Hey Jake, we had a similar issue, had my birthday on the 18th July & found a broken front right shock on my BT50. Had it repaired at Top End Motors in Seisia. We also ran into Lance & his wife at Babinda Boulders & Josephine Falls - Lovely people
Thanks Lance. I busted a torsion bar adjuster just before Bramwell. Lucky somebody warned me they can break on 100 series Cruisers so I had spares. Scary when you realise where you really are. 😅
Why is it necessary to go into that hole? I mean it's going to break something right? Just drive around it and move on for crying out loud. When driving on corrugation, get your speed up to 80kmh and the vehicle will float over the rough. Any slower you will wreck your vehicle.
But it’s all for a bit of fun!! Wouldn’t change a thing, it’s just the risk you take! Exactly what we aim to do on corrugations but it’s not always so easy when you regularly get stuck behind other slower vehicles.

Why did you not get one of the on lookers to hook you up on the rear and slowly winch you down into it. This is my backyard literally and I see so many cars destroyed before they even start after Palm Creek. Its the new Gunshot. on that note we traverse the Old Tele from North to South for fun which is more hair raising. Imagine going up it vertically ?
Just why 😀 Why risk your rig doing this on a round Aussie trip. We fried our Diesel Smart chip and have a buggered the solenoid on the fuel pump doing the same track. We limped back to Cairns and are waiting to see a mechanic on Monday 😯
geez those shocks are not meant to be adjusted under load. why not drop the shock make life a million times easier. also the reason that top bush blew out us your preload is too high. spring rate is too stiff now. alternatively drop tyre pressures so the sidewall cops the flex rather than the shock tower
Hey mate, we did all we could as we didn't have a spring compressor. Strange you think pre load is too high when it's at factory settings. Anyways, thanks for watching legend.
@lilandjake yeah dobinsons wind them up to achieve the desired lift, often to the detriment of the ride and spring rate for a vehicle. They aren't set by factory as such, a technician cranks them up to get the 50mm. they don't set them for your bar weight or anything like that, they go for lift height over everything else. it's all good though, just something to keep in mind.
