This still remains as one of my top 2 Band-Maid songs. It might not be the one that slaps the hardest, cuz they have some fantastic new songs, but from how well it's put together from start to end, it's just a fantastic song. The intro riff and outro riff are opposites of each other, so they act as bookends. The music video?! Well played, sir. Excellent. “Blooming” is one of several Band Maid songs that are best served by OMV. I enjoyed every one of your stops and restarts. Glad you didn’t hold back. Your commentary was both intelligent and fun. From what I’ve read, “Blooming” was the result of Kanami being a bit cross with the rest of the girls. During the making of the ’Conqueror’ album, she was doing all the writing and arrangement and felt the other members needed to contribute more. So she gave them all homework. They each returned to submit their musical contributions to Kanami-sensei. The intro/outro chord progression was MISA. The galloping tom work before the solo was Akane. I’m still hunting for the rest of the story. My guess would be those epic vocal harmonies in the bridge might’ve been Saiki. In any case, I’ve already submitted my request for Mondays off for the foreseeable future. 👍🏽
Agree! This song got some serious tongue gymnastics, and I believe they were forced to slow it down a bit in some of the most "busy" parts, so Saiki didn't by accident tie a knot on the tongue... so to speak. Though it's good live, it's still some of their finest studio work.. If not the finest IMO.
Yeah, I do enjoy that brogue talking about our ladies. Thank you for doing this one, it's my fave. Most of the time we get just a taste of Kanami's guitar unleashed, but on this one she just let's loose 3 times.
If i was allowed to discuss it i'd say Kanami has become a rather good guitarist....but i'm not allowed so i won't. Or mention Addictone sounding better :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 Certainly I wouldn't discuss how her sound is far more affected by the peddles she uses than the instrument, so I think you probably prefer it back when she didn't mess with her tone so much. Not that I'd ever say that. ;)
"Blooming" was heavily featured in Band-Maid's "10 Ant Tour" set rotation; it's a banger! About finding a "bad" Band-Maid song: there really aren't any. I can only think of two Band-Maid songs that I find mildly dissapointing in minor ways, mostly because I find the music videos for them annoying.
Some Japanese bands, old and new. Take your pick: BAND-MAID [All their songs... really!], LOVEBITES [Break the Wall, Raise some Hell, and all the other songs], BABYMETAL [All their songs, because they are all different], MAXIMUM THE HORMONE [Yoshu Fukushu], DEXCORE [Earthworm], CROSSFAITH [Catastrophe], SiM [Killing Me], NINGEN ISU [Heartless Scat], UNLUCKY MORPHEUS [Black Pentagram], YOUSEI TEIKOKU [Astral Dogma, Patriot Anthem (Live)] and their other band: DenKare [Detonator], COLDRAIN [Die Tomorrow], CRYSTAL LAKE [The Circle], GIVEN BY THE FLAMES [Ronove], LONESOME_BLUE [Face the Fear], ANGRY FROG REBIRTH [2Step Syndrome], SILENTLY SHOOTING TRAITORS [Manipulate], ALDIOUS [Dominator], TRiDENT [Ambivalent, Spoopy], BRIDEAR [Light in the Dark], CINQ ELEMENT [Destiny], MARY'S BLOOD [Marionette], GRAUPEL [Bereavement], DOLL$BOXX [Take my Chance], SOKONINARU [Tenohira De Odoru], HELLO SLEEPWALKERS [Flying Saucer], TELECiDE [Tied up Memories], NEKO [Ghost on a Record], MARDELAS [G-Metal], MERGINGMOON [Greyen], ROTTENGRAFFTY [Hallelujah], JILUKA [Mephisto, Overkill], BROKEN BY THE SCREAM [Emotion Cross-Counter], FATE GEAR [Unbreakable Wings], LYNCH [Devil], GACHARIC SPIN [Mindset], DIR EN GREY [Ningen wo Kaburu], X JAPAN [Kurenai], DAZZLE VISION [Second], DEVILOOF [Torture], JUPITER [My Enemy], NOKUTO [Life of Desire], GALNERYUS [Angel of Salvation], SAISEIGA [Ride On], BLOOD STAIN CHILD [Del-Sol], NEMOPHILA [Rise, Hypnosis], DADAROMA [Lucid Dream], JILUKA [Overkill, Lluvia, or Venom], HANABIE [We Love Sweets, Be the GAL], ZEILE [Deathside], A CROWD OF REBELLION [Re:Create of the Re:d], PALEDUSK [Area PD], POLKADOT STINGRAY [any song], MUTANT MONSTERS [Abnormal], BLACKLAB [Insanity], ASTERISM [Fiction, Rising Moon, Unravel, or Church], NOISEMAKER [Hunter or Prey], BiSH [The Night When Stars Twinkle], SCANDAL [A.M.D.K.J.], DEEP GIRL [I kill], Mrs. GREEN APPLE [Inferno], BRATS [Doudatte Yokatta], THE ORAL CIGARETTES [Frenzy Hey Kids!!], GIRUGAMESH [Drain], LiLiHoLi [From Darkness to Light], THE DEVIL’S KILLING MERRY-GO-ROUND [Diabolos], OTOBOKE BEAVER [Don't Light My Fire, Love is Short], and many many more...
Didn't have time to hear this one these last couple days (I was on a friend's birthday party on Monday and got my free time hijacked by my brother yesterday). And I'm really regretting it, because I absolutely LOVE it. Would fit quite well in a sci-fi anime opening, like Noein or Revisions. ^_^
As for the "Best" solo, I think you need to hear the solo in "Unfair Game" THEN tell me which is the better one. Unfair Game is available as the studio release on their channel under the "Releases" tab in the "YOLO" playlist. As for a "Bad" Band-Maid song? As of yet, there doesn't exist one or any BAD songs by these Ladies. What you should do is take a day and just watch/react to nothing but Band-Maid and save them individually. You can easily get an entire YEARS worth of Reactions done in 14-16 hours.
You were right to choose the OMV for this one. The same for 'Rinne'. Though it's grainy and washed out because it was shot on 8mm film like the Japanese Horror Movie of the same name. I find the performance superior to the LIVE version, which is rare for BAND-MAID. Not really feeling a lot of genre blending in this one, with the exception of Saiki's rap. Yeah, there's some 70's guitar influence, but to me it's a Power Pop Masterpiece, which is very much in like with their Anime Theme Songs. I'm surprised this isn't one. With very few exceptions, most all Anime Theme Songs seem like Power Pop or Pop Punk to me, with a few traditional Japanese and ballads mixed in there.
To me they just took all the good ingredients from the rock genre and made their own formula out of it and that's Band-Maid. Pretty much their own genre.
I’m going to be the heretic in the room and say that, for the most part, the MV is the best way to experience the song first. There are a few exceptions where the Live is vastly superior, usually because they’ve stuck in an extended section that is fantastic. The “Live Only” crowd has steered reactors wrong so many times that in fear of the “live version is better” they’ll watch fan cams over mv’s and then we’ve just reached insanity.
Are they the Beatles of this generation? Hear me out first. Lead Bass playing during compositions, check. Synchronized spot on drumming with constant change ups during fills, check. Magical harmonies singing meaningful lyrics, check. Short memorable killer rifts and solos in songs that move you, check. Trend setting, breaking through barriers, fans know every member by name, feels like family and most importantly, have their own cartoons. check
I wonder how many songs would simultaneously occupy your top 5 spots in time to come. Why, I know some people who have 50 songs within their top 5, all at the same time.... 😉 Thank goodness I don't have to teach Maths to those folks....
This song is bloody phenomenal. God-tier BM. And you're right, definitely one of Kanami's best solos. (PS You were right to pick the video in this instance! It's a case-by-case thing... sorry.)
"Well fck me with a spoon" 😂😂 perhaps it could be wise to apply some specificity to that comment as I'm thinking the pain pleasure ratio could vary significantly from small teaspoon to large soup ladle. No such specificity needed for B-M, always an aural and visual splendor. Hmmm I was going to make a coffee but I dont think I can look at the spoon just yet, righto a beer it is then. What a fcken band Po 👍🎼🥁🎸🎤🍻
IMO there's only a few MVs that are better than the live performances. Dice, Rinne, Choose Me, Daydreaming, Sense, Blooming and maaaybe Alone. The rest of the songs have live performances with quality post-production for watching it on blu-ray, so you can still hear the instruments well. You can't go wrong either way, but I feel like there's something so crisp about the MVs in these songs that isn't replicated live.
Yeah... Experience shows that Band-Maid is best live... almost always. Except some tracks, where the video is really good and/or they don't quite have a live version that beats it. "Blooming" is one, so might be "Dice", so might be "Rinne"... It's just that you are dealing with an audience for this that just KNOWS the Band-Maid catalogue. As for "bad" songs go... - well positively one of the more songs in their catalogue is "Start Over", with a proper MV. Penned some years ago, back when Kanami was apparently toying with the idea of trying to write an honest to goodness radio hit, meaning it had to be pretty darn soft. Otoh they kind of undercut that themselves with the lyrics of the song - singular feature in it making it 100% unplayable at least on US public radio. :)
I like Start Over. The single F bomb used is not out of place. Certainly pales next to many modern pop/rap/hip hop. And Kanami's idea of simple is way beyond the normal. Plus we get two piano interludes featuring Kanami!
"Is it the best Band-Maid song? Possibly." Exactly. A useful phrase to copy and paste. I think the general preference order goes Official Live > Official MV > Unofficial Live, but unfortunately Band-Maid fans don't have a hive-mind and there are exceptions like Sense, so people will complain whatever you do. Personally I was good with the live version for Rinne. Since you've got a list of Band-Maid reactions ready and don't want more recommendations for them, I'm going to suggest you give an instrumental band called Asterism a try. My choice would be a fancam to "Dawn": th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html . I figure that's okay considering how you discovered Band-Maid, but an official alternative is "Church": th-cam.com/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/w-d-xo.html
This is possibly the only number where they totally slayed it in the studio. One of the few songs they wrote together based on just an outline from kanami. Although I think she cracked the whip over them, she's a monster in the studio apparently.
Kanami is prpobably the one who got the most prominent future. She has already proved her musicianship, but she has quite an extensive education into the studio process. Knowing mostly every part. Even economics. So whatever happens to Band-maid in the future, she always has something to fall back on. Can it be one of the reasons why she shares the music-credits with all other members?
@@andreaspedersen3952 they all are massively qualified individually. MISA also studied PA (live mixing) in uni. Miku is an all round genius, her cluppo side project got her an EP and an anime theme, she's vice champion of Japan at speed poker, she's a brilliant business negotiator. Akane is as qualified a musician as kanami. Saiki is also an actriz and fashion model and does all their graphic design and merch. They basically have very few other people in the loop. Their project is very secure anyway. Miku has negotiated a great contract from what I understand and seems to have Live Nation eating out of her hand. Did you see the coach they got at the beginning of the year when even big names had to cancel tours for lack of even a sketchy one? They run a very lean ship.
I think official Music Videos have the best audio. Live shows can have audio that ranges from "very bad" to "professionally mixed". Lollapalooza the audio was not very good, so nice video, but the audio was not the best considering that it was made for Hulu.
Oh just asking : are you into Metal-Core like Stuff maybe ? Mixing different Stuff ? Insane ? If so check out Jiluka - Venom. That will NOT be a safe Reacion. One of my favorite " heavier " Bands from Japan.

Nice comment, Mike.👍
Aw thank you!!
Agree! This song got some serious tongue gymnastics, and I believe they were forced to slow it down a bit in some of the most "busy" parts, so Saiki didn't by accident tie a knot on the tongue... so to speak. Though it's good live, it's still some of their finest studio work.. If not the finest IMO.
Such fun. Thanks!
I'm really hoping for the Christmas ones..... 🤣 Oh, and "Blooming" is easily in my top three. Thanks Mark! 🕊
Man.......we just like watching the Maids " Play, " live. Oooops, I did it, slipped in a song request 😮
😏❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Now you know why it's my favourite !
Yeah, I do enjoy that brogue talking about our ladies. Thank you for doing this one, it's my fave. Most of the time we get just a taste of Kanami's guitar unleashed, but on this one she just let's loose 3 times.
You’re welcome!
Not that I'd ever say that. ;)
@@crabuki1273 And i'm glad you didn't say anything or i'd have to agree :)
Best bandmaid song ??? Best song ever!!!
The answer is to watch the live and the music video, obviously 😋
What simultaneously?🤭
@@GaryHolloway-810 I mean, if someone posted a simultaneous reaction, I'd watch it. Probably in two separate windows. 😯

I enjoyed this reaction. And it is one of their bests.
Thank you very much! I enjoyed making it! ☺️
Commenting to say I enjoyed your analysis of this song as requested. May bass be with you.
Thank you!!
Hahahahah! Dude, do what you want! 👍🏽
It's been fun to watch you go from "what do they do"? to "what can't they do"? Enjoying your reactions 👍
Thank you!!
I knew the reaction was monday but i did want to know the time 😁🤟🤟

thank you!
I agree, if this isn't Kanami's best solo, it's way way up there.
And F youze 2! 🥄
Sugoi! The opening of this song fills the heart; it is the best expression of pure joy I've ever heard.
Arigatou! 🤘🤘 #SurrenderLove #LetsDance
When I heard Kanami's guitar tone in this song it reminded my of The Arctic Monkeys song "Do I wanna know"
Nice wee comment here. Be sure to clean your spoon before you use it for food. This song has one of my favourite Kanami solos...

Coincidentally, Christmas falls on a Monday this year. I expect the promised Christmas video to come out on Christmas.
All part of the plan…
Do the music video, then the live. That's the correct order. Sometimes they change up the arrangements in the live versions
The music vid is good. 😊
If only I had an entire day to spare…
Maid monday huh? I'll be have to adjust my schedule now...👍
You were right to choose the OMV for this one.
🤘
To me they just took all the good ingredients from the rock genre and made their own formula out of it and that's Band-Maid. Pretty much their own genre.
I’d agree with that, it’s some special sauce!
I pledge to only do fan cams from now on 😂
You monster! 😮

I wonder how many songs would simultaneously occupy your top 5 spots in time to come. Why, I know some people who have 50 songs within their top 5, all at the same time.... 😉

This song is bloody phenomenal. God-tier BM. And you're right, definitely one of Kanami's best solos.
(PS You were right to pick the video in this instance! It's a case-by-case thing... sorry.)
It’s all good haha, if I pick the wrong one everyone shouts at me which kinda boosts the video anyway 😂
Honestly it was more a ladle i was thinking of, but the word escaped me in the heat of the moment ☺️

@@brunobryant4846 Haha. In years to come in my BAND-MAID memoirs there'll be a chapter called "Bruno and the Spoon".😬🥄
If you want to do a band maid song that will not be universally loved, add Dragon Cries to the list. That’s the divisive one. (It’s still good)
I might have already put it on the list 😉😉
@@markabusireactions But find the live version - DONT do the MV !!
@@technopsychobedlam too late 😂
What’s the lyric??
Nah start over is bloody gud, akanes jazzy drumming, misas bass work and kanamis clean guitar, anyway saiki doesn't give a fck.🤟🤟
I like Start Over. The single F bomb used is not out of place. Certainly pales next to many modern pop/rap/hip hop. And Kanami's idea of simple is way beyond the normal. Plus we get two piano interludes featuring Kanami!
It would be really great if you could do the Christmas concert or Sayonakidori!!! 👍 /s
Yes, till the next one!
I'm not suggesting a song. But I'm curious. Does he know about Band-Maiko?
He does!
Nobody's waiting for you to find a bad Band-Maid song because one doesn't exist.
They are in discord 😂
They can all suck a butt. You won't find one.@@markabusireactions

Pillar-san is a different animal altogether. You will be introduced to Pillar-san somewhere along your journey, Po.
I like Weezer, but listen to Weezer, then listen to Band-Maid. It’s like stepping out of a Volkswagon Beetle 1969, and stepping in to Cameron Fry’s dad’s car.
I dunno who that is, and I only meant Pinkerton Weezer. And I don’t mean in technical ability, I mean in how the music feels. Which I absolutely stand by.
