Cartoon Network (UK) adverts and promos - January 1998

- Pretty much the only thing that gives me that approx date is the 'Look Again' catalogue advert, spring/summer lines tend to be released in January. This is from a 3 hour tape of Thomas the Tank episodes all recorded off Cartoon Network and the only surviving advert break is this one. My mum was vigilant in pausing the recorder and thus chopping out all that priceless late 90's ephemera. This one probably slipped the net because of a phone call or boiled kettle. Whatever it was, thanks!
There are actually only two adverts and both contrast wildly, like they're from two totally disparate eras. The 'Fairy Liquid' advert has a 1983 vibe to it, then you get that aforementioned catalogue advert that piledrives you in the face with 1998
Months before it aired the post-1948 Warner Bros. cartoon shorts in the UK.

Hi Paul, I’m sorry if this irritates you, but do you still have those Thomas on Cartoon Network recordings? Mattel frustratingly blocked The Thomas TV Patrol’s compilations under copyright grounds, I understand if this comment gets no reply.
I do possess them, but what can I do? If it gets blocked, I can't do much with them

Hello, Paul. My apologies for reaching out like this. I come and as an archivist and a runner of a TH-cam channel dedicated to television airings of Thomas the Tank Engine. A friend had directed me to this video sometime ago, as your description states that the tape you recorded this advert break from contains about 3 hours of Thomas off Cartoon Network in the late 90's during its 2-3 year runtime on it. We are currently on the search for Thomas episodes from Cartoon Network from the first four seasons of the show, and while we've managed to obtain about over half of them from Sweden, we are currently still missing a decent chunk that we hope to recover. My aim as an archivist is to hopefully obtain the rest of the Second Season off the station, as they have a very strange anomaly to them that is very uncommon. They are known to fans as "Echoes" where two soundtracks play over the episode at the same time. And my other goal is to hopefully obtain as many more episodes as we can off Cartoon Network in general. Me and a group of friends run a TH-cam channel known as the "Thomas TV Patrol" where we solely dedicate uploads to Thomas' television history from 1984 to at least 2019. If you're interested, if we could get a list or a file of the Thomas episodes you have, we would be very happy to upload them to our channel with your permission to spotlight more of Thomas' time on Cartoon Network. @@BrandonHargus Okay I'm transferring a tape at the moment, either very late 1997 or very early 1998. Two episodes so far contain this effect - Percy and The Signal and Percy and Harold. Stay tuned!
