As someone born on the Lawe Top who has followed Shields from being a boy, I must admit to a huge sense of disappointment at the way the club was portrayed as being almost without any history. Nobody mentioned that Shields was ever a league club, and one of our own (Warney Cresswell) was capped for England whilst still playing for Shields. The whole programme was big on froth, but low on substance. Any publicity is welcome, but please don't portray us a bunch of country yokels. Overall it was a bit underwhelming.
