I love how you messed up the first blank and didn’t mention it. Where’d the sharpie mark go? You’re making this look easy, but not because you’re good, but because of video editing.
Who needs indicators close counts. Setup needs a sharp tap and a stiffer setup. Very smart application, just minor improvement need, low speed only lol
The runout and centering is VERY important with forged pieces, even if re-facing the entire piece because of the grain structure. Always square, level, plumb & even when building or making anything.
Try centering that 2nd piece that you thought we didn't notice. That's why it ran so wobbly- you didn't center it and if this is for any kind of precision mount, like a telescope or such, it will NOT be a good piece because you skipped basic steps to create a true precision part.
My grandfather passed away 3 years ago. He was a machinist just like this. I had heard a story of how a neighbor down the road needed a crankshaft for his his car and requested that he make one. He said no and they did go out and bought on instead and it fit and worked perfectly. I was astounded and proud as this sounded difficult and later when I finished school I then knew how difficult it must actually have been. But this is the first time I'm seeing how it could have been done even with older tools. Fascinating.
if you use an indexing head or rotary table first to score the worm wheel so it has the correct number of teeth the tap will follow those. It's really the only way to ensure you get the correct number of teeth on the worm wheel if that's critical for what your making. Cutting the radius in the worm ahead of time isn't necessary for finer pitch taps, it can make the process more diffucult and less accurate in a lot of cases.
Only one way these clowns can tighten a chuck. ALL THEIR MIGHT WITH A CHEATER BAR ON THE KEY. Thats why everything in their shop is smashed and welded up.
love how they pressing bearings
Looking at the condition of the live centre and the tailstock quill I've never seen anything bastardized to that level.

Harsh but fair! All too hit and miss! Clever but rough and wouldn’t last too long! Hey ho! Cheers
A 4 year apprenticeship should not be underestimated .

How is this brass stock piece so far out of round? The runout is like 3 to 4 mm !!!!
It is not brass stock. It is a bronze casting and the runout is quite good.

@@petergoose8164 Runout is quite good? What video are you talking about because it surely ain't this one.
Good work 👍👍
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS ON HARDEN STEEL!

Earlier Generations had lot of hands on skills, with computerization dependency is increasing.
So your neighbor bought a part for his car and it fit. Why are you telling this to the world?
Why are you posting same Grandpa story every where??
this video gives me anxiety, measuring with the spindle turning xD
What is this part for? I can't see how it could drive anything?
This part is for getting clicks on youtube.

Very nice videos

The two bearings are not square with each other, or the body because you didn’t do a full bore from the one side.

Это зубчатое колесо червячной пары. (Червяком будет выступать шпилька с резьбой как на метчике, которым нарезал колесо).
good job
This is amateur level over all
Good job
How both bearing run concentric??

En vez de golpear con ese útil de hierro lo más normal como buen tornero sería utilizar comparador, base magnética y martillo de cobre….👎🏻👎🏻
