Yes, but we can't take everybody - there's millions of people who want to come and we don't have the resources to absorb that many people - we already have 100's coming in daily and also illegals - I think the US allows a million people per year and to win green cards to work in the US- we can't have overwhelmed schools and hospitals , it's not fair to the people who live in the US, most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck - there are many countries people can go to as refugees - the US is just one
@@jreifsnyder2225 Agree but it also just kinda show our own hypocrisy. Why are Ukrainians okay to come as they please? We even see families open their homes to these refugees, which is amazing and I love it! Yet thousands of migrants fleeing dictatorships and gangs in Latin America aren't? Middle East is a different story altogether as a good portion of nations there are hostile or negative to the US. Is it that the Ukrainians are white? I'm not sure but it seems very convincing to me. And the portion about paycheck to paycheck and how its unfair to us Americans, the US already has thousands of seasonal migrant workers that cross to help with crop harvesting and many other high labor jobs that many Americans aren't willing to do anymore, yet they must leave at the end of the season back across the border and not permitted to stay and build their own lives here. The more people we have, the more demand there is, ending in more jobs... its always been that way and its still true now. Also not saying these migrants should become a new cheap labor class in America, but at least give their hard work a chance at a new life.
I know that we cannot take on all people. Who are giving them jobs to be able to work here? There are companies and corporations that hire illegals for less money than US citizens that is a problem also, why not levy larger fines on the companies that hire them without documentation. I am annoyed also that I am on a fixed income. A lot of low to middle income people taxes are higher than corporations.
Not all of them want to leave that area, a lot have relatives in the surrounding countries, some have relatives here. At least they aren't trapped in Ukraine and had options.
I’m glad we’re helping Ukrainian refugees. But can you imagine the impact we’d have in our own backyards if we did the same with our neighbors in need? If we sponsored the neighborhood kid in need of nourishment. The neighborhood mom that’s been abused. The runaway teen who ends up in prostitution. Or, heck, even to our fellow Americans from Latin America escaping violence and poverty and political persecution. It’s beyond me why we will only help certain individuals and not others. Even the news reporting on Ukraine has been near constant yet I never once saw this level of coverage for other wars happening outside of European soil. We are the human race. Let’s act like it. As for these people, I hope with the support they are receiving that they are able to integrate into their new life a little bit more seamlessly. Immigration is hard as it is when it’s a voluntary choice. But thrown into a new country with a different language and new customs when it was not your choice, it’s hard. Good luck.
I feel that any of the refugees who comes to the United States will never go back. They will get caught up in the traditional immigrant/opportunity vortex and become Americanized. Refugees who came over around 2014 from Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine are still here, for example. That is one reason why it is preferred that European countries take them in, it improves their chances of one day returning to their homeland.
As long as they are productive and law-abiding citizens, why is it a problem? People coming here from everywhere in the world for an opportunity is the American way.
@@saurabhshah1538 because typically it isn't really the plan and the parents regret the decision when the children become Americanized, they love their country and heritage but if you stay too long you can't go back easily.
Ukraine is considered one of the poorest country in Europe by nominal GDP per capita, attributed with corruption. Most of the population is middle class or lower (that live in villages).
