thanks for showing me how the dump rake works. and I think I know why it sat for so long waiting for the day when using it was better than losing the hay.
Yea, just was a long time-consuming process with these dump rakes. They did do a really great job raking, but the evolution of the wheel rakes just outperforms it by a long shot.
Lol we kinda had the same problem last year we had got in a slue that we haven't been in in 12 years and we got all it cut and baled without getting stuck but then we got that rain where we got 4 inches and we had 150 bales then sitting in 4 inches to a foot of water we went in and got them one by one with the single bale fork
Brooks you are setting a huge pond of water and if I were a betting individual the soil is floating on top of it. It would be nice to know if that is what it doing go in scrap the top soil off to see if my thinking is correct.
water that close to the top an your crops are burning up. i got to see a dump rake work after 56 years thank you Brooks.
Desperate times call for desperate measures to save the day, but at the very least, you have lots of good cattle food to show for your efforts!
Glad you got some bales

Everything looks a little greener than it has been
Things did green up a bit with that 1" of total rain 2 weeks ago, but everything is back to its same old look again.
More than one way to skin a cat.
Not every body can say they bale hay in a marsh/swamp.....
...and it isn't fun either.
Drug alot of meadow hay out of the swamps so could get it with hay sweeps
