I watched Rashida's documentary about her father, Quincy Jones. Fascinating man! He knows where all the bodies are buried, LOL. Love those Brando stories!
I have found all of the recent commentary regarding Jones's "blackness" etc. to be hilarious. Jones is the daughter of showbiz royalty; rich; Ivy League educated; a successful actor, writer, producer and now director; she's part of at least two classic TV dynasties; she wrote and produced a wonderful documentary about her dad; slapped down Tupac for dissing her father; etc. etc. With all of that some commentators and randos on the internet question her blackness and sense of self? How funny is that? I don't know her and obviously can't speak for her, but I think it is likely that Rashida Jones does not give a flying @&^% about her haters. She has been living her best life since Quincy and Peggy brought her home from the hospital.
She's not black despite her father. She's cool, but she's not black. If you have to tell everyone you are black because they assume you are white, you are not black. With the same logic, her child is not black. At a certain point, black people have to hold the line and reconsider this one drop nonsense.

It amazes me how some people in these comments are really rallying up against Rashida Jones. Y’all have a problem with her identify with her blackness when she’s been black all her life. For those who said she played roles that were mainly “white”, she actually played mixed women and/or characters that never had her ethnicity mentioned. And tell that to the casting directors who she auditioned for in the past saying she was too ambiguous to play black characters..... so Kidada has the same mother as her and y’all aren’t yapping about how she’s not black enough. And Rashida has always been for black people until she was told she couldn’t represent for black people and she wasn’t black enough. This happened when she pledged into a black sorority. I find it funny how some of y’all be the ones to police mixed black people from claiming/loving/owning their blackness and go around wanting to have babies with white people( i.e. “Give me a white king! Fuck black men” and “White queens are it, fuck dark skin black women”).... And y’all are the same people who was saying Meghan Markle was black and she was a black princess.... I understand that there are some mixed people who claim blackness for opportunities and when it’s convenient for them in terms of racial profiling and other racist or prejudice that happens to them. They also claim it for sick reasons like to appeal to white people for exoticism. However, when someone is coming into their own and accepting their blackness and loving it, who are you to say “you’re not black enough”? Nobody said any of y’all are the black police. So LEAVE RASHIDA ALONE. Rashida IS BLACK and always will be. P.S. not every black person has the same experiences. We all have a common factor which is trying to dismantle white supremacy and trying to be seen as human beings. But for the rest, black people come in all shades, hair textures, sizes, etc. And for y’all to say Quincy Jones isn’t black because he has 34% white in him, that’s stupid as fuck. Black people have 25-30+ percent of white in them due to slavery. Just because some of y’alls ancestors were not descendants of slavery, doesn’t mean that people who do have that in their bloodline isn’t black or black enough to your liking.
