for umbrella, I gotta go with that Caligula set for packaging...tons of extras, huge boxset, 5 versions of the movie, posters, magazine replicas, all kinds of stuff
With regards to the Mexico/Mariachi Trilogy, this is my preferred packaging for box sets, sturdy box with separate cases for each film with the original artwork. Can't be beaten.
I liked the Vinegar Syndrome releases for The Prophecy and China O Brian 1 and 2 for their box sets. And the 4k box set of Bruiser in 4k by George Romero. Kickboxer release was awesome too!
"The Tenant" film review is far over due 😂...Director of your favorite film " China Town" so though u already reviewed it but realise yeah it was one those packaging box review 😂.
Yes the Neverending Story was a great release & I kept the movie out cuz I didn't wanna fight with the plastic slipcover protector. As of right now it sits in storage because I don't have any room to put it because of how big it is. However I did keep the movie on my shelf so I can watch it whenever I want. Also that Paramount scares vol. 2 is a great set to own in if they do a number three this year I will be picking that up as well
My Neverending Story is shipping. I wasn't going to get it until I saw the actual set on this channel. Ken's worse than a drug dealer when it comes to costing me money. 😂
I have a confession. If I have a choice between the movie with great packaging at $39.99 or a standard edition with no packaging for $24.99, I'm going no packaging every time
@ No, where did you get that from? You said if you had a choice between paying for great packaging or not you choose not to. I get the nice collectible editions hence opposite.
@ColoradoKid303 my fault I am talking to someone in another thread who was talking about the quality of the films and I got mixed up with you. I pick and choose which movies I get with fancy packaging. If I bought every nice flashy set I'd be out of money quickly. Take Wicked for example. If it comes with some flashy box set for $39.99 or a standard edition for $19.99 I'm going $19.99 all day since I didn't care for the film. Now if they came out with a flashy packaging for something like Casino which is one of my favorite movies ever then I'll spring for the $39.99. My thing is the flashy packaging is nice for a few minutes as you admire it when it arrives. But after that it sits on my shelf. So I guess I'm just a little pickier
Good list. I have just received what I suspect will be a contender for best packaging for 2025, Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter. This was produced by Hammer films itself and contains 5 discs in wonderful packaging. I am not aware of any other film companies that have done 4K remasters and of these own films. Packaging is spectacular - looking forward to future Hammer’s own 4K releases. I agree with most of your choices though Thank you.🎉🎉🎉
Love all the VSU from Vinegar Syndrome. A Blade in the Dark packaging was so cool. I would have a hard time picking out which is my favorite out of all the ones I have. Wanted the Hell House set, but it was just too much.
Artwork aside, Twister was probably my favorite release this last year. The sequel was meh… but the original delivered on 4k uhd. Going green in the best way. Cheers
@user-friendly-b6q agree with you 100%. It wasn't until I started joining Facebook groups that I realized how many people will buy shit movies just because of the packaging. I never knew of that mentality and to this day I still think it's strange for something that will sit on your shelf 99% of the time
Goood video, Strage The Hitcher was not there, never heard of the Tenant , theres 2 on ebay currently best price is £40 plus post, but i would need to see it first, i liked the raid set you have, but just found it too violent, heres 1 for ya Oceans 11 on 4k steelbook got this for less than £25 from Amazon france, think you made a mistake there this or the boxset if you have it should of been in your top 10 , but really i never bought enough to give you a chart like yours.
I prefer the original artwork on the Mexico trilogy set. I didn't like the new floating head artwork. I kept all the original artwork on the three cases.
I buy movies you might consider crappy for an upgrade in picture or audio quality. The cool packaging is merely a bonus. But it is nice if you have a collection, to see the deluxe packaging on the shelf. Its not the primary reason to have a collection, but a component. Like fashion, music, film, or pop culture, sometimes prevailing opinions become fact and consensus. But contrary to current day popular opinion, collections of blurays, uhd 4ks, vinyl, cds, books and more are not a waste of space for those of us who value them. If you want to own nothing, good for you. If having a collection means clutter to you, no worries. You just arent one of us. And thats ok. Cheers and have a great weekend.
@midlevelmedia true. But let's take something that everyone agrees is universally bad. The Acolyte. Would you buy that series with fancy packaging for lets say $99.99? Or a standard for $59.99? Or skip?

Great set. Need to check it out
Great film also brave of a director exploring that area of history.
With regards to the Mexico/Mariachi Trilogy, this is my preferred packaging for box sets, sturdy box with separate cases for each film with the original artwork. Can't be beaten.
I really like that too. May seem simple and basic to some, but that’s why it’s one of my favorites

Should I buy no country for old men criterion 4k

I’m the opposite.
Everybody’s different
@@ColoradoKid303 so you'll buy a shitty movie just because of nice packaging?

My favorite release of the year was Haxan from Radiance … first time watch as well.

No slips for the hellhouse movies? Wouldn't make my list just for a lenticular cover
Just had captain Kronos 4k special edition collector's set on hammer films 🎥 uk 🇬🇧 😊😊😊

My number overall release of 2024!
If the movie is crap, I will not buy it, no way, I don't care if the packaging is extraordinary, contents over continent , always !!

I didn’t think the Mexico trilogy packaging was all that, what about The Hitcher? Columbia classics Vol 5 is the last one no more after that.
Hitcher was in my top 10 overall. Mexico Trilogy was standard packaging sure, but the overall Boxset was great.
I vote for Super Mario Bros. and Paramount Scares Vol 2
I prefer the original artwork on the Mexico trilogy set. I didn't like the new floating head artwork. I kept all the original artwork on the three cases.
A serious film like The Tenant treated like a silly blockbuster just to sell a fancy package.
Do people actually just buy crappy movies for the packaging?
Ken does!

What’s crap is all opinion.

Yes, they do. They may watch the movie one time to justify the price paid. LOL
The never ending story set is ridiculous. Nobody should have ever bought that.
18th!
