In contemporary America, holding automotive competitions through city streets is extremely rare.
The 7th Annual Coatesville 2023 Grand Prix began at 9:30 it was a beautiful sunny 82-degree day at the end of the summer. The drivers and owners of more than 50 vintage cars dating from 1900 to 1975, and vintage motorcycles from 1930 to 1975 started to rev up their engines. The driving course, spanned 2 miles set up for time trial competition, not wheel to wheel racing driving through the city streets of Coatesville, PA.
The thrill of more than 50 vintage autos and motorcycles charging through the heart of historic Coatesville, gave spectators a flashback to what the early days of American motorsports looked like. Along the duration of the course, drivers faced challenges like having to navigate through obstacles on the streets such as a score of old-style straw bales.
Trophies were awarded for best overall performance in each of five divisions, with the coveted Brian Hoskins Trophy awarded to the top competitor who best exemplifies sportsmanship, skill, and safety on the course.
