John Fath where are the mutes? I'm not sure if I see them but are they clear and cut to only partially cover the tonefield? I've seen magnetic mutes before but I don't see what you're talking about... it sounds to me like the technique is just speed, light touch, multiple fingers and him muting the notes.
gregvalou he does a similar technique at :30 in th-cam.com/video/-kDojIxAhNI/w-d-xo.html (it looks to me like it's from his touch, speed, using all the fingers of each hand and possibly combining with palm mutes) and he also does the 'flick roll, which is explained at 4:00 here th-cam.com/video/kFqMQ7UKlsg/w-d-xo.html ; this is also an excellent tutorial th-cam.com/video/tgr7LaHms24/w-d-xo.html
