@@rockie307 RCBS made a statement that they were struggling to get any dies to work. They said it takes them roughly 12 passes to get them back to SAMMI specs. Not impossible, just very improbable. Also, hard metal, mouths keep cracking.
@buckdown1658 Have to wait and see but I bet they get it figured out. Might take some new equipment or something. If they make a 30 cal like this I'll probably get one find a factory load it likes and stock up. I don't need but 10 or 20 rounds a year for a big game rifle I have others much cheaper and more practical to practice with.
I know the whole draw of this cartridge is to shoot high velocities out of short barrels, but I’m someone who would love to see more rifle manufacturers chamber this in guns with 22-24in barrels to really get all the velocity potential out of it!
No one. They basically made a round that's not practical to reload that blows the primers out of factory ammo, isn't accurate out of a custom rifle and will be too expensive to actually buy factory to train with😂
@@ajdube9967 it’s the same price as factory federal ammo in everyone’s new favorite “innovative” 7prc lol everyone is so bent out of shape about “not being reloadsble” yet these same people don’t even reload and if they did they stick to book specs and don’t push any envelopes. @@T-ROY_69 yeah I hear ya I have been shooting both short and long for many years and don't really feel it much when working the bolt. I'll bet you they will do a short action cartridge soon.
Heeeeeey, that hurt my feelings! The 338 Federal is a marvelous cartridge. Would love to see that one come back, it's to bad it died. Even Federals partner, Savage Arms, doesn't even offer it anymore. It's sad
@hedgeapplehomestead2816 Beating there power out of a 4" shorter barrel in a standard action and standard bolt with a extra round in the mag. Its better in every way besides ammo availability and cost. This is the future most likely and the biggest advancement in 100 years. That doesn't mean older cartridges are no good and no longer work. It is impressive matching 7mm ultra mag out of a 280 case. I'll hold out for a 30 cal version I'm sure it's on the way.
AT $118/box (US cost exchanged to Cdn $), thanks, but no thanks. That will be a hard pass for me. Another Gucci-priced ammunition to do a job that Federal Premium in .30-06 Sprg at about 1/2 the price will do just fine for me. It's an interesting concept, though. I just wish that Federal would not try to recover its R&D costs so abruptly through the Gucci-level pricing. Federal would likely get even more uptake across the market if the ammunition were more competitively priced.
Huge waste of money and time if it can't be reloaded or the prices aren't much cheaper than brass !! Because I can push high-quality brass to 80,000 psi and reload it over 20 times. Ultimate Reloader TH-cam channel has 2 videos doing that !!
@@nmelkhunter1 Unfortunately, no one yet. RCBS is apparently in the works right now, but they are having a crap of a time. I guess they have to do it over 10 times to make it finally within SAMMI specs. So, for factory ammo shooters, this is revolutionary. To handloaders like us, we'll have to pass.
You do know that the powder used in those ultimate reloader videos at some point the pressure flattens out and is probably (actually more than likely) not getting the pressures they say they are. Kind of funny how they use "calculated" pressures and don't actually shoot the ammunition through actually P&V barrels.
Awesome, what about rifle primers?
To bad we can't reload it. Sounding really awesome at first!
You can reload it
Who says you cant?

@rockie307 True, I'd honestly jump on board if a 338-06 variant hit the market, too.
Sounds like one could "backcountry" all the existing cartridges... If so that would be fantastic.

Seekins has it in 22. Seems like a nice length for performance vs length.
Actual innovation. BZ!
Heck yes! This is going to make suppressed hunting WAY easier with shorter barrels!!!
Who is making the dies as well as the “brass”? I think this won’t be competitive in the market place if it can’t be reloaded.
I am sure RCBS or someone will be making them soon. I'm also sure that they'll come one with unprimed cases for sale

The big sell on the shorter barrel… but in a long action. That peak alloy case in a 7prcw woulda been perfect.

Sorry to be a pain, but doesn't there need to be a rifle to go with the ammo...?
there are some custom rifle makers who already have a hundred or more 7bc rifles out the door. factory rifles will be coming out soon.
