As someone who's absolutely jaded about celebrities, I gotta say that Andrew Garfield is a surprisingly very genuine. Personal opinion, but I think he's what everyone thinks Tom Hanks is.

From what I've read, it was more like he was called out by Gervais for not being able to take a joke (which everyone at the ceremony knew Gervais was there to deliver). Although, I read what he said, and I'd say I would also have gone "Whoa... That's a bit much," coz that was actually tad disrespectful to Hanks' co-presenter and the type of joke that should've been reserved for a Comedy Central Roast or something like that.

That would be AWESOME if he were to win. Personally, he's a shoo-in for that and every award going. I would be more certain of him winning if Adam Driver's performance in 'House of Gucci' did not exist. Will Smith in 'King Richard' also looks strong but Andrew Garfield is THE ONLY REASON this awards season has any interest for me.

@@CJJC42 Ah...!! Denzel in 'Macbeth.' That is another performance. I do think he might just struggle against Adam Driver, Will Smith and Andrew Garfield for one reason: although all 4 of them play real life people, the others can be verified to see how well they embodied their characters in a way Denzel cannot. As awesome as his performance may be, if any of the others gives the Oscar voters the feeling that they are looking at a ghost that pretty much ties it. That feeling got Bradley Cooper a nomination for his turn in American Sniper. In any other year he would have had much better chances. But that year he was up against the likes of Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking and Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing. Two very capable actors that also give the feeling of seeing a ghost.
The other thing is that Denzel's performance in 'Macbeth' is very reminiscent of that given by Orson Welles. That's not Denzel's fault. There are very few ways to play a man on the verge of insanity. However, if the voters get the feeling of having seen this before, they might look elsewhere.
The only thing with Will Smith's portrayal is that while he embodies Richard Williams, he doesn't quite look like him. Had Mahershala Ali turned in exactly the same performance, I would be more inclined to think he was going to win.
All that said, I thought 1917 would win the Oscar for Best Picture so what do I know?

I love how super excited he is when it is William and Ralph talking. You can see the child in him coming out. The new generation is cool, but Daniel and Johnny really are the core of all this franchise. I know he would cry if Pat Morita would still be there.

I think you'd be surprised...That's the stereotype of celebrities, but not the norm.
Many times that have tp separate themselves from non-famous people, because they get swarmed, they have zero privacy. To them it's just a job but. can be dangerous. People like Aaron Paul, Keanu Reeves, Ethan Hawk and even Charlize Theron are incredibly humble in public

To be honest Cobra Kai has been done exceptionally well. Anyone that grew up on the originals just gets the same nostalgic dopamine kicks they got when they were children, and the new generation can enjoy a multi-generational story that has decades of word-building and history to back it up in various layers.

Aw. When Andrew Garfield says "that was one of the best moments in my life", you can feel the self-depracating sincerity. It's truly lovely to see such a gracious humble talented actor appreciate other's work. The fact that he gets so much enjoyment from obscure stuff is great. I remember hilarious cartoons such as She-Ra, He-Man and Thundercats. I appreciate his love of fantasy. Cobra Kai is great as it really depicts the "good" vs "evil"/dark vs. light trope. I hear you, Andrew. I had such a crush on Ralph Macchio when I was 12. The Karate Kid was my absolute favorite! And years later, I got to see Ralph perform on stage in a production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which was awesome. Partway through the show, my older sister leaned over and teasingly said, "Still have a crush on him?" I watched Ralph for another 10 seconds and then said, "Yeah. Shut up. Yeah, I do." Lol! Those things from our childhood just don't go away, do they? ❤️
