    My friends and I go from crawfordsville to the Wabash on Sugar Creek every year. It is about 40 miles. We do it in 3 days and 2 nights. The weekend of May 5th in remembrance of a friend who passed. There is a good-sized group of us heading out this weekend. All are invited

      Thanks for the invite! I definitely want to know more information on this stretch. Can you hit me up on Instagram or Facebook? Just search “clay provines” there’s not many of us.

    I finally got over there in April last year ,4/28 by my phone records. Where your friend sat in his canvas canoe was a foot above river level. There was no more than 14 inches of water at the deepest if you were to wade across from the parking area. An unusual low river for that time of year,looking back. Like many things local to me,I had put off visiting there thinking maybe later. Glad I saw it. Neat place!

      The river was definitely low. We walked a lot. If possible I recommend visiting it by water the first time seeing it. It’s breathtaking seeing it as you come around the bend in the river.

    I'm from peru sadly but I really enjoy paddling. Maybe we should float or do a trip sometime. Just went from Logansport to Delphi on the wabash a couple weeks ago. 27 mile trip.

      Its unfortunate that the towns of our reservoirs don't reflect the spirit of beauty that our forests and rivers provide!! It's sacred land here in Indiana once you weed through all the developments of society and get to the essentials of nature

    On that road above the pillars, there’s a small place to pull over and you can look down through a hole that is fenced off, but you can look down between a couple of the pillars.

    I’ve gone canoeing in Indiana before. It’s very fun. Like you I even wore trunks and a t-shirt but I wore sandals instead of sneakers. It’s quite a workout canoeing and you wonder how far you’ll go. Indiana is such a nice state. Do you plan to do it again?

      It was a good paddle. I plan to make videos of other places before I go back there.

    You guys should look for arrowheads on the sand bars. And why does he have a canvas kayak?

    • @clayprovines4808
      @clayprovines4808  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Next time I’ll look for arrowheads. He has a canvas kayak because he builds them. We didn’t realize how shallow it was going to be. He now has a plastic yak for shallow water.

      Thanks! The Saint Joseph river is nice if you stay out of town. I haven’t kayaked it but I’ve been on stretches of it up there.

    In peru theres a trail called riverwalk trail, we take our kids on it often. Theres lot of entertrances to the wabash, which runs completely east to west of indiana btw. And connects to the great Mississippi!

      Did you watch the whole thing? It’s super shallow and rocky in places. Idk about mini jets but I definitely won’t be taking my outboard let there.

    How long was that float?

    • @clayprovines4808
      @clayprovines4808  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was quite the float. If I remember right, it took about eight hours but we took some breaks and had to drag the kayaks a lot. If the water is up, I could see it going a lot faster.

    Just curious about logistics - Who dropped you and your Kayak upstream? Or did someone brought your ride downstream?

      There are definitely cool places hidden between the corn fields in Indiana.
