Some people from my family are very far away from me. But when l listen to this song I see that one day in my imagination, when we all meet again, on earth and one day even in Heaven. First, some of the best, old fashioned Southern Gospel songs are kept alive as the old ways of gathering, like campmeeting and the singing onvention are preserved. Also, some of the pioneers of Southern Gospel, who served as both itinerant preachers and entertainers spreading the Gospel through music are featured and honored, as well as the generational contributions of these well-travelled families. Areas of the country and the world far away from Southern culture were introduced to artists like Jake Hess, Howard and Vestal Goodman, The Imperials, The Statesmen, The Cathedrals, The Blackwood Brothers and dozens more through these videos. Anybody else choke up on this one? First, because of what icons like James Blackwood brought and continued to bring to this type of music, and then when he sang here next to his son and namesake Jimmy Blackwood and nephew Terry Blackwood, himself a renown Gospel artist. The closer I get to that heavenly home the more dear this song seems to my heart. I’ve buried a lot of loved ones over the past 5 years and it never gets easier, but the thought of seeing them again some day makes me smile and rejoice in the good times we had, but in the better days to come.
