    As a teacher I just gotta say that Mango is a fucking incredible instructor. Perfect balance of critique and praise, relaxed and serious, concrete and abstract. Of course his brand is being a goofball, but that can mask just how damn smart the guy is.

      I'm also a teacher, and I noticed the exact same thing. He's really good at giving feedback and comprehensive input. He also excellsat bringing his knowledge (which one would asume most of this is just natural stuff to him at this point) down to very basic, understandable concepts. I do think he uses too much time talking himself rather than asking scar's for how he feels about the stuff he's doing. But other than that, he's pretty damn good at coaching.

      These Scar training videos have a lot of knowledge that can be transferred to things outside of Melee and even video games in general.
      It's dope that it seemed he played Melee at just the right age when he was still in his formative years (compared to people who begin at age 18 or so), and even though he was a poor student, it seems that he was still amassing a ton of knowledge (not specific to Melee) subconsciously.

    This is so great content. I learn something from every video and see myself improving by keeping that in mind. I’ve got one question: is sdi needed for Falco Pillars? What was the major difference when mango showed scar how to di the shine? Angles or also sdi?

    • @bcan5512
      @bcan5512 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sdi is definitely important for pillar combos. Mango was focusing more on scar's DI, or angles. You usually want to di shines away to make it harder for the falco to followup. So if you get hit by the right side of falcons shine, hold away and you'll travel the most distance away from him
      The mixup comes when falco can switch up what side of the shine he hits you with. If falco hits you with the left side of shine while you are holding "away" expecting the right side, now you are DIing in and he can get a follow-up. It's a bit hard to visualize, but you can use ikneedata.com/calculator to see what these angles look like. Choose falcos shine from the left side, and play with the joystick on the right to see what di's look like.
      SDI is more commonly used against the dair. You can sdi away from the dair, and gain enough distance where a shine doesn't connect. You can also use sdi during pillaring. Depending on your position when a falco dairs you in the air, you may want to sdi down to reach the ground before him, or sdi up to jump out

    the slideoff stuff is mental, I can't believe that you can know exactly based off your stage position and your percent for every stage in every location where you are going to be able to slide off. you just understand DI trajectories at every percent so well that you can just analogue CHOOSE to get a slideoff? • @AlexRoseGames
      @AlexRoseGames 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mac_McBride can't tell if this is a troll, but just in case your comment is genuine: once you enter hitstun you have no control over your trajectory. the only time you can choose when your character launches is when you input your DI during hitstop when an attack connects. you are tied to your parabola until you get hit again or until hitstun ends (then you can aerial drift)
      if hitstun ends then you wouldn't need to slide-off because you can air dodge, shine, aerial, wiggle out. to hit the platform in hitstun you have to perfectly aim your stick BEFORE YOU ARE LAUNCHED to modify the parabola with the dot product of your launch trajectory and your stick input, which entirely changes depending on your % too

    • @Mac_McBride
      @Mac_McBride 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexRoseGames its a good thing combos are more than 1 hit and you have plenty of time to anticipate the trajectory of the next moves. You get it a lot by accident while DI'ing combos away lol.
