Absolute gem! I really enjoy his attitude towards the dead and heritage...Kevin asked him about being from a landed gentry position, and he answered very clearly, "it"s a just a matter of scale...we all have the same problems". I suppose, not really🤣
Wow wow wow. I never expected such an amazing result both externally and internally. It’s just stunning! It’s not all to my taste, but by god he has impressive taste and an incredible eye for detail. A huge congrats on the house and the wonderful new lady in your life!
Greetings from Kigali. Rwanda. In my 20 year construction experience across Eastern Africa, I have come across all flavours of clients ( type 1:curious but not interested to develop; type 2: well informed, know what they want; type 3: flip floppers). This guy would fall on extreme right of type 2. Congs to him
25:14: I can absolutely understand the consideration made by the council and families to be respectful at all times, but at the very same time, there's always the niggling suspicion they are actively going out of their way to make things difficult, because they either disapprove, think it's weird and creepy, or are just plain jealous. LOL
The contrast of the luxurious home and the graveyard reminds of the words of the gospel, something about building your treasures in heaven rather than on earth. Still love the home though, even though it seems spiritually at odds with its surroundings.
Will probably never be able to sell it, its beautiful but very few people will want to live next to a cemetary. He has to have known that he was going to cart his son off to boarding school eventually and wont really need something that big.
Great house. However, it does feel as though this man has more resources than he is letting on, and therefore, I don't think there was a hard and fast budget.
Is it just me or is anyone else staggered by the entitlement of this guy. Is anyone else thinking where this money is coming from. A captain in the army building a multi-million pound house...and still has the funds for a fully stocked wine cellar? Likely berry bros and not sainsburys wine as well! A bit more transparency on this show would make it all a bit more relatable to "normal" people.
he did a beautiful job but you must consider resale when it comes to restate and I don't know how this would sell with the dead and 4 to 5 million price tag...
This design strikes me as really daft and could only be taken on if you have inordinate amounts of money. The lack of foresight about his son's future educational needs screams privilege.
Every episode is full of unnecessary drama. Will they make it in time? Yes, they almost always do! The TV culture is making this otherwise lovely show a lot worse than what it could be.
While the rest of us little poor peasants are struggling with the financial cost of buying the next little piece of bread to feed ourselves. I really can’t watch lord posh git loads of money. Maybe his aunt couldn’t loan out a few dozen rooms of her little place in the sticks to some asylum seekers.
I agree. I tried not to dislike him for being a spoiled rich bastard, but I failed. Lying awake about how you xcan afford the private swimming pool in your basement... Thesec people were made rich by various kings andc warlords, as thanks for crushing the local resistance. I think it has been long enough.
A walking advert for a wealth tax - how exactly does this man and his son need a 4,800sqft house? What about the emissions from this vanity project? The veneration of wealth & class has long been the weakest part of this show.
Nope..... the original Victorian building is lovely and looks beautifully restored... the rest of this man's vision is predictable and frankly not all that interesting. Big glass, open plan kitchen, blah blah. Sorry but I think he's spoiled, entitled, rich and a bit bonkers! I would have loved to have seen just the restoration of the original building without all the ostentatious pomp and silliness.
What an epic build. And what a treat for us to be able to come along for the journey. Thank you to the show and to the owner.
this is my favourite house of the entire Grand Design show. I remember when this episode came out and I was blown away! I still am.
really🤔🤷🏻♂
Absolutely spoiling us with these!!

What a vision he had. It turned out excellent ❤

He is such an energetic guy!
I love this so much
Most wonderful place Well done Justin!!
Like the guy. He has that "up guards and at em" determination.
I would have built a secret entrance into the cemetery
😄😄
naughty boy! 😂😂
You crazy 🤣😂❤
I was thinking exactly that. Or a retractable ladder.
maybe he has....

Lesson learnt, don’t be boring.

I wish I could have that kind of money as well. Congratulation to an awesome home.

Wow 👌 👏

I mean his cousin is a Lady so he's obviously related to the aristocracy and he speaks very posh.

London. It would sell quite easily.
He is a risk taker, with his family's money. He's a mommy's boy, nothing more
Amazing absolutely beautiful
Something tells me the kitchen will be remodelled with the Chef girlfriend...
Beautifull house but I fear its just an investment to sell on to an arabic millionare and not a home... But still love the result
And grand designs offered him a 45mn ad
Imagine if they DID find corpses under what had been decades of public toilets! Gol.
The has guts ...
he is rich rich
Maybe he should have set his aspirations more reasonably

If you know anything about stately home you know they cost a fortune every year in upkeep, doubt his family is as wealthy as you think they are.
trrrraght
Living in a or nxt to a cemetery don't think it's a good idea
