- "Live" report at Global Sources Consumer Electronics Show 13th April 2024!
Today we start off with a mission to meet 4 factories at Hall 2 which covers eSports equipment, gaming products and home entertainment. Global sources provided a complimentary free air ticket after having completed the mission. After which its tour of all gaming products. The gaming chair category looks on a hyper growth trajectory as almost all major front booths are snapped up in this area. New features like LED light, built in fan and massager are showcased by various factories as key differentiators. The keyboard market is evolved into a rise in mechanical keyboards. Some having new technologies like magnetic resistance with sensitive of each key as small as 1mm. The mouse category have also up their ante in showcasing 26,000 dpi and above capabilities.
Next we moved onto Hall 3, 5, 6 and 7 which showcase local China brands, ADAS and navigation, car audio and security, video, monitors, computer peripherals, networking, storage, bags and communication products.
Alot of familiar factories who have been in the show the last 10-20 years are still here signalling sustainability in Manufacturing business, albeit there's a sizeable section of the exhibition showcasing factories based in Vietnam. There are quite a handful of Asia buyers as we see from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia. The modus operandi of sticking to OEM/ODM business is still evident as factories ask for 3 to 5k minimum order quantity, some if negotiated fiercely may relent to 1k moq.
There's also quite a handful of local home grown brands moving up the ante in their product offerings. Investment in marketing and R&D have improved their image, product superiority and packaging. They are now pricing their products as high as international brands, 5 to 6 times their manufacturing costs. Thereby introducing some business opportunities for retailers and distributors.
We managed to clear most of the factories from Hall 3 to 7 before the closing @6pm.
