My first encounter with Smith & Wesson came from an encounter with my Gysgt Dad’s M1917 revolver. In the 1950’s, the NRA sold them to civilians for around $50. Dad got his with a flap holster a box of ball ammo with half moon clips sent to him through the mail. It was a joy to shoot albeit a little loose. I have hd several M625’s since and one is a current Performance Center version. One of the advantages of the 45ACP revolver is bullet selection for the hand loader. Another is performance. I can load to near 44Mag velocities in 45AutoRim cases and keep them out of my 45ACP semi-auto pistols. These pistols have been used in development of 45Rowland and other “super” 45 calibers too. Love talking about these classic firearms. Love shooting them more! Haha Another great video HR!
Thanks! A couple of ours ago, I happened across one of the Heritage 1917's that S&W made 15 or so years ago. It was beautiful with a case hardened frame and highly polished blue barrel and cylinder. I amost bought it, but in the end opted for something else that is not nearly as pretty but I'll certainly shoot more. You will (hopefully) see that one in the near future.
I had mine re chambered by Clark to 460 Rowland. I use it like any of the other big bore revolvers. With 255 grain lead bullets and a charge of Red Dot it cuts cloverleafs at 25 yards. A nylon pouch carries 4 6 round clips for fast reloading. I also love it for snake shot, and I have full, half, and 1/3 moon clips for versatility. I now have over 700 Auto Rim cases too, and they are loaded with the 255 grain bullets in the 1100 fps range in AR cases. You failed to mention, even unaltered, it will shoot 45 GAP, 45 ACP, 45 Super, and 45 Glock using moon clips, and the 45 Auto Rim, and in my gun also 460 Rowland, and I know there are more variations with weird names that are used by the tac-tard community. The best revolver, no handgun, ever made, even in your handicapped 4 inch model. Thanks for high lighting it.
@@tomr3074 Bullet creep was only an issue in the Colt version of the M1917 revolver. Smith and Wesson head spaced their chambers allowing use without the half moon clips although a pencil was sometimes required to eject the rimless cases. The S & W Model 25-2 (1955 model) was my first handgun and it came with a 6.5" barrel and wide trigger. Very accurate with 230gr. FMG @ 100m and muzzle velocity 40 fps FASTER than a 1911. I could use a variety of ammo since there were no ejecting nor feeding problems. I loaded single rounds which I had to push out with a pencil, half moon clips, full moon clips, and speed loaders with .45 Auto Rim cartridges. Overall, a nice revolver with less recoil than a Model 29.
I don't know about it being THE dumbest. There are a lot of candidates in the running for that title. Still, it is certainly up there with the top contenders.

You're welcome. It sounds like you have a very well-thought-out system built around your 625. I hope it serves you well for years to come!
Neat revolver!
...and in 4-inch, thats kinda a rare bird in the old 625s
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I've always had a soft spot for the 4" 625's. They make a wonderful carry package, and they still pack a good punch.
I got the same gun but in a 5 inch love it
Great video, HR! I'm in your age group and your style of video is perfect for me!
Thank you! I'm glad you like them!
My 625 is laser etched on the barrel Model of 1989. The barrel is 5" and it came along when the bowling pin shooting game was a going thing.
Mine has the same marking, but it's engraved rather than being laser etched. Thanks for watching!
I just found this video. I. too, have a 625, but it is a 3 inch.
Treasure it. If your the guy I sold mine to, I want it back
Nice vid
Thanks!
It’s discontinued now. That’s a damn shame.
Too bad. I didn’t know that.
It is. They’re supposed to be making a run of 22-4’s, but I haven’t seen that yet either.
Is bullet creep a issue with 45 acp?
I've never noticed it.
Cool, I'm looking to complete my s&w revolver collection. A moon clip model is what I'm after next. Thanks for your videos and knowledge
@@tomr3074 You're welcome Tom!

A nice pre lock version. That single feature has lost more sales than anything else for S&W. The dumbest move by a firearms manufacturer.
