    This is an older man's song especially if you lived your time a bit wild and off center. You find yourself remembering, reflecting,regretting and so much more. There's a time when sickness and death is all around you and the memories come without bidding or welcome. I hope Mr Cash has found his peace. If he has, maybe the rest of us will as well.

    Johnny sang my life & in the process he saved my life....I regret the time I was in a boat on Henderson lake and we pulled up to Johnnys' dock....I was too afraid to go up and knock on his back door to tell him how much he meant to me....I wish I had. I hope to meet him in heaven someday....just to shake his hand.

    I've listened to a lot of music in my young life. I went to the rock n roll hall of fame because of AC/DC! I loved it. I waslked up stairs and this video was playing and the POWERFUL lyrics and pain in this song grabbed me. It is the most beautiful song and video I've ever seen. I'm currently reading a bio on Johnny cash. Just WOW. I'm so impressed. What a talented man!!! 👍❤

    Johnny Cash got my attention when I was about 5. My family didn't listen to country, but I heard it somewhere else. I would sing on my slide two of his songs. He made such an impression on a small child. I loved June & Johnny. They were what we call "good people!"

    He was a genuine troubadour, a bona fide minstrel, telling and re-telling the stories of our lives, what we wish were our lives or sometimes the stories that shouldn't be part of anyone's lives but become so due to our human nature and the choices we make. He fully embodied our human spirit, and we're richer for his life and what he has left behind. I only hope I to touch anyone the way his music has touched me.

    What a beautiful Man. Role model all my life. The talent, the truthfulness, the spiritual side. The ruggedness, just the soul you felt along with the humor. Just a beautiful portrait of how to be a man, for me growing up and watching him. He was my Dads best buddy...like an uncle...Out in the garage with my Dad and Johnny Cash playing all through my childhood. Molded my life. What an honor to live while he did.

    Anytime I/we watched Johnny Cash, we all smiled. Why? Because we knew that everything he did or said was from a very REAL place in his own life and in his heart. He was REAL. Period. He did not pretend to be anything but himself, warts and all, both good with the bad. He was HONEST and it came out through his music, in honesty of his own messes and pleasures in life, honest with injustice in the world, just plain honest...and real...always real. So many artist today, it seems, hide behind a facade of their or corporate making. He was the opposite. One of the most amazing and powerful artist I have ever seen and heard.

  • @Bregh
    @Bregh 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my tradition, today is the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed, and this video showed up in my recommended feed--an artist I grew up listening to as a boy, and as a man, and whose gifts I have been blessed to share with my children, the eldest of whom wasn't quite yet a year old when Johnny Cash passed into the rest and care of his God. His music has been with me and people important to me in good time and in bad. I am grateful to have encountered this part of his story today, told by the people who loved him, and to the God who thought enough of the rest of us to put Johnny here, and to Johnny for his courage in sharing some of the best part of himself with us as a result. Trent Reznor composed a powerful song from his place of personal darkness, and Johnny took that darkness, some part of which he shared or recognised, too, and didn't flinch from it, but instead dragged it out into the light and, by some measure, vanquished it. Maybe nobody else but him could've done that, but even if it were possible, I'm still glad he was the one who did. We remember those who served faithfully in their generation, and beg grace to follow in their steps.

    Hurt was very powerful and I am sure it means different things to people but some of the things it means to me are: John was willing to show his frail health and aged appearance to the world. Most celebrities would never do this. John had lived a life of wealth and fame but at the end of it none of that mattered much to him, God and family were much more important. John could take a song from a completely different genre of music and make it into his song. John knew his death was coming but he was willing to take it head on. Most people do not even want to think about their own mortality but he made a music video about it. His message was to stay true to yourself and what you know is right rather than chase money or fame because in the end none of that stuff will matter to you when your days are becoming short.

    Johnny understood regret, and why it's powerful and necessary. It is a teacher. It is a strengthener. Johnny was wise and strong because he felt that hurt. He made this song his because his life mirrored the words Trent wrote. Even approaching death, Johnny took inventory of his life and deeds, and he felt sorrow for the mistakes. This was song was his last confession. We need know no more. May he rest in eternity in peace.

    Like Barbara said, it's not the way she would like to remember Johnny, nor is it the way I or any other fan would like to remember him, but it is the truth and he expressed it so well.

    The very best song ever sung. We all face death in the end. I have faced it several times, it always sucks. But death brings rebirth, a next step in that journey. The man in black will never be "a single drop of rain".
