Truly the most entertaining World Cup I’ve ever watched. If only Shauna Coxsey also commentated, then we could have learned as much as we laugh.

The last comment about the expenses was brilliant. I appreciate Matt being honest about that. I mean this stuff is public knowledge but to just say it on the official broadcast is not nothing.
Alex’s commentary was the most fun I’ve had watching IFSC in a long time. I usually skip through to the sends but this is one of the few times I watched and enjoyed every minute. Unfortunately, I hope his last comment about prize money doesn’t get him banned from future commentary, not sure if IFSC likes getting called out publicly on broadcast like that, as warranted as it was.
Yes, public knowledge, but it's surprisingly hard to find actual figures. They're publicly available, but you have to really dig to find them on the IFSC website.
Matt definitely sounded uncomfortable with the question to me, and only answered because Alex's direct style and follow-up questions gave him no choice.
Don't get me wrong, I like Matt's commentary overall, but his extreme reluctance to say anything negative about the IFSC is notorious.

Alex was the highlight of the comp lol. Not sure they're going to ever re-invite him, he's probably too wild for the boring corporate types.
He was commentating the comp because he wanted practice for commentating the upcoming Olympics. The corporate type love Honnold lol, he's the biggest name in rock climbing by far.

Just telling as he sees it. I dont think he gives to much weight wether people share his opinion or not. The man is set for life why would he care. I found it very amusing how he made Matt Groom uncomfortable by talking about climbers pay on life TV.

Alex: "I know I dropped out of college so I could go solo 5.10 and you are kinda like.. what was I doing.."
Matt: "I think it worked out all right for you though."
Alex: "I mean yeah I get to do commentary that's cool."
God I hope alex continues to do commentary.
