Should have covered pawn takes knight on f6 also then knight to f7+, if queen takes then white queen takes rook with check, black queen must defend, white queen takes black queen then pawn promotes. If King moves after knight to f7 then queen simply takes rook.
@7:22 in the hypothetical line, couldn't he bring the rook back instead of taking the knight?? Both knights would then be attacked, which would still allow the capture the following turn, except your rook is controlling the back rank soon to be up a full piece
The thumbnail being a sideline instead of the actual pause the video moment solution did actually mess me up, I kept trying to think of ways to force Nf7# but I only saw it as a sideline and so didn't actually calculate Nf6 all the way through. the 3 option; pawn takes knight F6 (6.55mins) is a sweet line that results in a forced queen sacrifice and total destruction :-)
QxR, QxQ, Nf7 forks king and queen and you're up 2 pawns with a winning end game. One of the best games I've ever seen.
Haha. Wow! This reminds me of why I fell in love with chess when I was a kid. It's because of games like this.
Hello! I think 2 or 3 decades ago you said you were gonna do a Steinitz Saga. What’s up with that? Great videos of your games by the way, love them.
