      Filip Orvik The channel Red Letter Media does a fake parody show making fun of "geek culture" podcasts and shows. The catch phrase is "very cool," hence Max Landis's shirt.

    • @filiporvik2782
      @filiporvik2782 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But why is it written about 8 times down the entire comment section? Is it because he said, very fun eight times in a row in the video?

    • @FLanklinBadge

      Filip Orvik It's repeated a lot in the parody, not a specific amount of times though.

    • @salehali9541
      @salehali9541 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      kingkusnacht it wasnt dependent, it had visual callbacks and similar beats but TFA didnt have the same actual plot of any of the OT movies, Starkiller base was completely unnecessary though and just stupid but I loved almost everything else about TFA

    • @kingkusnacht
      @kingkusnacht 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Saleh Ali I'm not only talking about TFA specifically. The prequels, R1, TFA, Clone Wars and Rebels all never really got past the Originals. I don't know, it's just like the studios don't trust that the Star Wars Universe could be good and interesting beyond them. They always have to connect everything to the OT.

    • @Di7manya
      @Di7manya 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. The SW universe has so much potential for new ideas, yet everything always comes down to "destroy the Death Star".
      There are also two things that I hate that are by now ingrained in SW through movies, shows and the EU and that is: they feel the need to show how every single aspect of everything happens, there is nothing left to the imagination. Young character X stories or this is how this part of the OT happened are very lazy storylines, considering you have an entire universe of stories and characters to visit. Related to that point, I hate the "everyone is related" trope. If Rey is Luke's daughter I'll be very disappointed. Why can't she just be some girl in some random planet? Why does the story have to revolve around the same characters ALL the time?

    • @NCMonefaith
      @NCMonefaith 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Di7manya because if Luke didn't have any kids that would be a huge slap in the face and the literal end of one of the most powerful force family users in star wars history. Personally I don't want her to be his daughter but if Luke has 0 children that's just a very bad move.

    • @salehali9541
      @salehali9541 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corey Lowe this is exactly why I dislike this fanbase, "if this guy is this or this woman is that Im gonna be pissed" tbh its not the story that I care about, they can have any story or any reveal or any twist, the presentation of the events, how they're acted, how its written, how its shot and edited and the use of music, showing restraint or taking risk with any of the aspects os what makes or breaks a movie because they give life to the story original or not, and for those reasons I enjoyed TFA because although not an "original story" they put a lot of effort into the presentation to make it stand out from the other movies in the saga

    I think the "problem" of the Force Awakens is the story is written in such a backwards way as to continue the "Rebels vs. Empire" aesthetic and background, thus making most of the exposition that doesn't involve Luke pointless and dumb, but the characters are so whole, and as they exist, their characters are informed based on how they differ from their counterparts. Rey doesn't have the physical weaknesses or lack of strong will Luke has (who jumps on the opportunity to become a Jedi thing that he just discovered while Rey clearly knows sometTHING of the Force), but she actually has emotional struggles and ties that make her infinitely more sympathetic and interesting. I love her characterization and Daisy's acting. I've seen the movie several times and that has remained consistent. Her and Kylo are the best things about this new trilogy post VII.

      Oh, so you just know? And I guess Mark Hamill gave it his best shot for Star Wars (1977) oh wait no he's said in several interviews he didn't try that hard... Daisy Ridley actually did rather well, had to communicate several emotions, all of which are believable unless you walk into these movies extremely cynical and the exact audience a freaking Star Wars space adventure is not intended for, and it sounds to me you have an opinion of such a person.

    I think the big Hollywood studios need Max Landis to just come up with random ideas for movies. He is so creative and thinks of original ideas that I want to see! They could benefit from him; even if they're not that good, people would still go see them because they're different.

    There's nothing more entertaining to watch than Max try to start going off on one, seeing his brain begin to hurtling forwards only to be met with these ridiculous deadpan suggestions than totally ruin what he was going to say. Please do this again

    I'd like to see a Star Wars movie that takes place on a planet in the universe. Gives us a feel for the politics of a singular world in the system and maybe how it operates within the galaxy as a whole. Then, right as the movie is hitting its stride and plot points begin to come together the planet, and all its characters, get vaporized. One of the problems, I've felt, with past movies is that the planets getting destroyed lacks weight. Show us that destruction, of people in the midst of living their lives, from this closer perspective and those actions would become terrifying and horrible again.

    I think it would be cool to have a movie about some young people being initiated into the sith, in the vein of a "joining a sorority" type of thing. Friendships would be tested, hearts would be broken, moral boundaries would be crossed, it would be dramatic stuff. Think The Social Network meets Degrassi meets any kind of High School or college sports movie Actually a netflix series with that kind of a premise would be cool too. Maybe two friends grow apart because one of them becomes a sith.
    Now I'm rambling lol.

    Max, the bit you're missing with Rey is her Origin Story. The movie we have didn't give her one; she just appeared on this planet out of nowhere. Personally, I think the second movie will reveal that she was a toddler hidden during the attack on Jakku. Her Mother/Father/both were killed in the attack, and she became "just another orphan" -- but her Mother either was a Jedi or was being trained by Luke, so the baby was tucked off in the corner during training sessions, and that (combined with her off-the-scale affinity for the Force) is how she's able to discover these Powers as she's exposed to them. She doesn't **know** the Powers, but somewhere in the back of her mind is a mess of information (stuff that doesn't teach her, but that has caused her brain to grow up thinking "in the right way") that helps her stumble through what's going on, and unlock the Powers by watching what someone else is doing as they're being used around her. The question in my mind is whether Luke recognizes her (the way Vader recognized Kenobi through the Force, just knowing he was somewhere nearby).

    Max pitches movies that would never work on the actual big screen, but it would have been fucking awesome to play toys with him as a kid. I'd let him choose our pretend every time.
