It's so wrong, but you've got to giggle as you drive one! Great fun, with an awsome 5 cylinder exhaust note. We've got a Defender 90 down to 7.6 seconds 0-60mph now, and there's more to come yet.
They look pretty decent machines I have to say. I like the defender at 49 seconds into the video. Looks quite fast. Which tuning companies would you recommend for diesel defenders?
do you do engine conversions for more performance? seen a seriously nice 5.9 cummins engine conversion, that enine can haul a 3 ton truck down the quarter faster than a bugatti veyron , and its diesel!!!
The Defender at 49 seconds into the clip was our 'Rat Bag' Td5 90. This car produced 232.9bhp back then in 2009, and has since made even more with a bigger turbo. For Land Rover Tuning, there is only one place to go, and that's Alive Tuning!
@HotHeadCJ yes and no - obviously the stupid looking trucks with the overly large wheels will be restricted like wise the trucks with the lowered suspestion will be hampered compared to a standard 90. would have been interesting to see the difference in off road performance as well
@chargedlover - After speaking to JE, it transpires the Zulu was't running right on the day. Some might say that's a poor excuse, but there's going to be another one of these events later this year, so JE will have chance to show it's true colours then. Personally, I cannot wait to kick some V8 ass! We're not through with the Td5 yet! lol
do you get rich snobby farmers laughing at you because you have no towbar? ive got a l reg defender on the rebuild atm and everytime i come to look for some kind of inspiration all i see is TWISTED or some other poor mans GWagon bollocks. spend your money on a BMW M3 if you want speed. what made this trend some about???
I think you might be surprised at how quick I can make a Freelander 2. Have you seen our tuned Evoque video? That has the same engine as your Freelander 2!
The emissions test was going to be a tie breaker, should there be a draw, and their very nearly was! My car was trailered there, and back, and had a tune on which I would obviously not use on the road. I have two switchable maps anyway, so that base was well covered! lol While on the subject of emissions, Kevs 90 on the Santa Pod video was smoking badly! Ian drove that there did he not? Just an observation. ;-)
@chunkyfecalbreakfast Most of us own performance cars too, but don't you think there is something just a little bit cheeky, having a Defender that can do this? Some of these diesels are producing well over 200bhp (122bhp in standard trim). People just don't expect them to go like they do. The traffic light grand prix has never been such fun!
@DefenderRocks With a couple of hours work to change the Springs, Dampers, Wheels, and remove the roll bars, most of these would be awesome off road beasts too, as they have trick diffs etc!
nope, but will have a look. The Freelander is not bad, get about 200kph out with a back wind. Dealer says WTF though. But I do have a nice big fat V12 coupe when I really want to give the beans over here in de vaterland ;-)
I believe the stig once said the most terrifying thing he had ever driven these look very stable hard springs and shocks hopeless for normal road use would think still lovely
200 BHP. And what mpg probably much less than a 300bhp 5.0ltr rover v8. Which would cost you a fraction of all this diesel tuning. And the engine would last much longer. If my V8 spewed all that crap out of the exhaust I would be horrified.

They sound EPIC!!!!!

Alive Tuning is the place - Give us a call!

are they still offroad capable
I am located in sydney Australia.
it looks like you are in the uk?
lol that tires . . .
Awesome
I would definately take a ferrari rallying if I could afford it
The Stig drives Land Rovers these days.

I don't get this, if you want something fast surely start with a vehicle that doesnt have a ladder frame.
I think you might be surprised at how quick I can make a Freelander 2. Have you seen our tuned Evoque video? That has the same engine as your Freelander 2!
just seems wrong lol
2min 55 sec best. V8 supercharged beauty
This is so weirdly amazing - I'm seeing a Landrover but I'm hearing something that sounds exactly like my old 5 pot ST Focus.
maybe a TD5...
No smoke no poke
Some seriously dirty remaps in that lot.

Are the diffs and half shafts strong enough to handle this power?
Cheers

Limited ultimately by the high centre of gravity of a Land Rover?
You can only get round a corner so fast in a truck!
I believe the stig once said the most terrifying thing he had ever driven these look very stable hard springs and shocks hopeless for normal road use would think still lovely
This was 3 years ago. We're making them much better now!
Interesting but they should have got an Impreza if they wanna do that!
@rossdawson93 I also wanna know!! It's like diesel porn!!! And I'm a V8 Land Rover type of guy
wtf! rapid lannys!
Those TD5's do sound nice, that was a fun day
can any one tell me how or where to tune 2009 freelander 2 td4?
This is brilliant. I want one. No - I want ALL of them.
Respect. Makes my Freelander 2 a righ slug.
WoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW
love that
ahh, But can they still go off road? ;)
Got to get my hands on one of them...
How long does those Td5s last???
OMW look at them pull!!!:D:D:D
Nice
what engines are they using?? td5 or 200/300 tdi???
terry mardy obviously td5
0-60?

They all remind me of the G-Class.
