- Out for another solo hike and camp. For this adventure I head into the Kaimai ranges to find another backcountry hut.
Upon reaching Mangamuka Hut I get dinner prepped and set up my tent for the night.
After a great night spent in the bush I hike the shorter section of the loop track out.
It was a great trip and I hope you guys enjoy!

Thanks heaps Sarah! I might do a pack rundown at some point, still dialing it in 😊
Love the cloud formation - too often people forget to look up and see the beauty in the sky. Thanks for the video.
It definitely pays to look up every now and again 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it.
Cheers
Yet another lovely spot to visit, even if for me it is only via your video. Thanks for taking us along with you. Such beautiful scenery as usual.
Thanks heaps Jennylee. I'm glad you can live vicariously through my videos 🙂.

Beautiful clouds and overall scenery. Those cows were snubbing you maybe they were camera shy lol. Thanks for taking us along. I have enjoyed the progression of your trips it’s been great to watch, on to the next, I am at 5 months ago so getting close to current 😊
Thank you Jeanette.
Your getting through them! I appreciate it.
Cheers

I’ll bet it was warm Zeb. It’s been really hot in the North island. Thanks for getting out in it.

Great adventure video mate!
I appreciate it Aaron! Thanks alot man.

I got 4 x Back Country Cuisine packs for Christmas. On a recent solo overnighter, I found 1 pack (beef teriyaki) to be way too much (volume wise), ended up being dinner, breakfast and lunch. Still I did enjoy it, very flavorsome.
Cheers for the comment Philip. Yeah they are quite huge portions, I struggled to finish this one.
I hope your overnighter was a good one.
Thanks
Fantastic adventuring areas for sure...hope to one day even be able to get to New Zealand myself! Lots of snow still here in Nova Scotia! Take good care out there...Bruce and Otis
Nova Scotia! Now that's a place that would be amazing to visit. I hope you can make it over here one day.
Thanks for watching!
Cheers
First
Thanks heaps as always Jason!
A much better video quality! Did u get a new toy? :))
Thanks man, nah still using the same camera. Maybe I'm just getting better at filming haha.
Cheers mate
Great trek and track Zeb. 13.56 minutes, is that a foxglove? The purple flowered plant. I love these kind of videos deep in the Bush taking a look at the huts. One day Zeb someone will read the intentions book 'improvised hammock from tarp, bowdrill fire & wild foraging' and they'll think who is this guy😎.
Those meals sure are handy though, heat through with minimal dishes, perfect for a trip like that, loved the way you filmed it all, cheers Chris.
Thanks alot Chris.
Yeah I'm pretty sure it is foxglove.
Haha I always enjoy having a good read of the intentions book, there are some interesting comments to be found.
Glad you enjoyed it mate.
Cheers
You are the angles master.
Given that it looked like you had the hut to yourself, why did you pitch tent, do you avoid people in huts?
I appreciate the compliment Dave. Cheers.
I dunno aye, I just like sleeping in my tent. Haha I don't really know why I do it, it's fun I suppose. A bit weird I know.
You set a brisk pace on your hikes. Have you had a bad experience while hiking solo and using a hut rather than your tent when others have arrived?
Hey TJ,
Thanks man, I don't always walk quickly but when I get a late start I move a bit quicker haha.
Nah I haven't had any bad experiences yet, I have had to bail, like that time in the kaimanawas.
But no I haven't had to seek out shelter or anything... yet haha.
Cheers mate.
