Matt Walsh is a popular writer, speaker, and one of the Conservative Movement’s most influential voices. He is the host of Daily Wire's “The Matt Walsh Show,” and author of the best-selling children’s book Johnny the Walrus. His documentary “What is a Woman?” has become a cultural phenomenon and one of the most talked-about documentaries of 2022.
I watched “What is a Woman?” with my apolitical sister a few weeks back. She said to me “you should be glad mom and dad weren’t woke.” I agreed but it struck me odd she would say that. She then reminded me that when I was young I wanted to be girl. I had forgotten that. It was because my two older sisters were terrible bullies. My dad told me to never hit girls so I didn’t. But in my 6 yr old mind if I was a girl I could beat my sisters up. Obviously I outgrew it. I do wonder how innocently it starts out for some of these kids and then encouraged by the parents.

Exactly, like these kids aren’t thinking about actual genders-their simple, immature logic goes more along lines of “oh, I’m told boys can’t do this thing? Well I want to do the thing, therefore I don’t want to be a boy”. Same as in playing “boys shouldn’t bark at the table, only dogs do? Well I want to bark, so I’m gonna say I’m a dog”. It has nothing to do with “deep down I know I’m a girl, so I’m going to do all these things that society has told me girls do so that I come across as one”. Woke parents are switching the 2 things around.. they’re claiming the visible result (acting like a girl) is the reason, not that the reason (wanting to do something he can’t) manifests the visible result (acting like a girl) if that makes sense

And then they’re praised for their bravery, and their “chosen identity” is affirmed by almost everybody around them. When the odd person disagrees, that person is called ignorant and mean. To the child, they like being praised, and everybody except “mean” people is telling them that they aren’t the sex that they actually are, so it must be true. And even if the child changes his or her mind, many adults would discourage that, either because they assume that the child is giving in to pressure (when it’s actually the opposite) or because the parent too loses the praise that goes along with “being brave and supportive of their child.”

I graduated from U of I in 2012, and at that time, the fringe elements of politics like this had yet to take over the entire campus. I truly respect students today who stand up for the truth and for the validity of varying political opinions that goes against psycho leftism. You guys and gals are truly brave

I'm from Liverpool in the UK. I wanna say how much I love DW, especially Matt. He's a true inspiration....and a REAL MAN!!! His wife and him are a perfect example of how different MEN and WOMEN are, but how perfectly they can work in harmony. Their children are extremely lucky to have a mum and dad like them!!

He is certainly on point on this topic but a few times he has said stuff and I was like WTF. Some good advice I got on preachers/pastors before was "take the good/truth they say and disregard the rest." That is good advice for all people who are spreading a message. When your job is speaking to an audience you are at some point going to say something that is not correct. The hero worship will make you blind to that if not careful.

Okay the girl at 32:13 seemed so sweet and adorable! I don’t blame her for being nervous in front of everyone-she was being vulnerable too admitting she used to be trans. Plus, if you try to tie in how women are nurturing and caring and more emotional and motherly etc etc (which are all true of course) many opposing would bring up the fact “well some men are on average more emotional, some men are very nurturing” or even “women are raised that way cuz of society” and so on, invalidating that point. The BIGGEST problem with Neo-gender ideology is the LANGUAGE used. Transitioning" and "de-transitioning" and "trans" all are terms that describe something that does NOT exist, BUT infer that you can change your sex/gender. which you CANNOT.
Saying “biological male/female” infers there is something DIFFERENT than just male/female, which there is not. It is essentially a pleonasm since by definition male is a biological term, so adding biological to the word male is redundant. Calling Men “she/her” and women “him/his/he” perpetuate this problem so stop using the Neo-gender ideology language.
Too many people that speak out against Neo-gender ideology CONTINUE to use the language of that ideology, thus perpetuating this nonsense.
'Gender-affirming' means 'gender-erasing', and vice versa in the leftists' vocabulary.
Some of us put these words in inverted commas, and use other terms, such as "reality-believer" or "trans-deluded".

I think that in Matt's answer to the last question about staying sane and keeping calm, what he's saying is you need a support system of good, grounded, sane people who you can turn to, who can encourage you and remind you to fight the good fight in the right way. People who will remind you what matters most and of the best ways to handle these crazy situations. You need strong people to help keep you strong and in return you can also help them when they are feeling overwhelmed. As a Christian, I would say church is the best place to find that and praying for the "crazy people" is the best way to help you find the love and patience God wants us to show others.

I can't believe this is a topic that needs to be discussed at any level.
The definition of a woman is adult human female.
It has nothing to do with virtues or role in society or purpose/teleos.
If we add righteousness to the definition of a woman then we're saying that unrighteous women aren't really women and that would be false.
I understand Matt being self deprecating and humble at times. He talks about how he only has a high school diploma, but he has a level of intelligence and competence (along with good character) that is needed to have the influence that he is having. Also, the grace and providence of God. Actually, that last part is foremost.

The important part is the trans language and confusion, his preferred mythology is irrelevant
There are 3 main forces behind gender ideology, and they all have a long history of taking any opportunities they get.
1. Financially predatory corporations. The major players are big pharma, the cosmetic surgery industry, and the sex industry (prostitution and pornography). Big pharma deliberately created the opioid epidemic. The cosmetic surgery industry has always preyed on people with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), as well as riding any other form of societal bias. These predatory industries mine people for money and don't really care what happens to their slag heaps. There are also the secondary industries whose success is dependent on predatory industries. For example, the advertising industry makes most of their money from pharmaceutical ads, and Big Tech makes most of their money from the sex industry.
2. Individual predators. These are the narcissists, psychopaths, and pedophiles, among others. Human beings are one of the few species that will prey on our own kind. Predators want to harm others without consequence. Always have, always will. Gender Ideology is particularly attractive to pedophiles, because if they encourage their victims to identify as trans, all symptoms of sexual abuse will be interpreted as gender dysphoria or a response to transphobia. This drastically reduces the likelihood of prosecution. Also, many trans identifying teens and young adults appear prepubescent long after the normal age of puberty.
3. World destroying religious fanatics. There is a surprising diversity of religious fanatics and ideological purists who believe that destruction of the present world will allow a utopian ideal to emerge spontaneously from the "clean slate". Gnostic religious fanatics have been trying to free souls from bodies (and reality) for thousands of years. Transhumanists want people to renounce their own humanity and bring about a post-human world. With minor variations, libertarians and anarchists both believe that a world without rules will self-organize into perfection. Marxist/Leninist/Maoist approaches involve massive destruction of cultural history. Critical theory pedagogy, as developed by Paulo Freire, is explicitly and exclusively about destruction. Even *thinking* about what might come next will contaminate it with the "oppressions" of this culture.
These 3 groups are always around, and they will always take advantage of any openings available to achieve their goals. It's largely coincidence that their interests dovetail nicely in gender ideology.
There are several innocent groups who have accidentally provided openings for the interests of this "dark alliance" to converge in a way we call Gender Ideology. The goal of the innocent groups was to re-examine the boundaries placed in society and change the ones that were nonsensical or harmful.
The "dark alliance" moved in and planted the idea that boundaries themselves are harmful, and that it's a moral obligation to permit the violation of any and all boundaries. Note the way "gatekeeping" has been turned into a slur and an accusation. Without clear boundaries, the players I describe above will ALWAYS come in and wreak havoc. Every single time.
Fighting back effectively will require a broad alliance that crosses old political divides. The dark alliance has money, power, deception, and ruthlessness on their side.
We have numbers and reality on our side, but we must stay united. Stand up, fight back. We must win this, for the survival of our species.

I remember kids questioning, “Who am I ?” back in the late 60’s. This always puzzled me. We had none of todays foolishness regarding basic biology. Most grew out of their self identity questioning in a short time. I cannot imagine how bad it is for young people today when they are being pushed mercilessly from evil “educators”.

Thankfull to see this happen at my Alma Mater. I had no idea it was going on. Honestly I am a little shocked they allowed it though I am glad they did. Yes i am conservative and have long thought now that if I ever had kids I wouldn't want them to attend a public school. This is a great and historical University. We need to work together and allow all viewpoints no matter how much you may disagree.

I want to share a few experiences I've had this year, I hope it helps someone in need.
As a transgender female, it took me 50 years to fight agakns my feelings. I troed every treatment under the sun to try to fix me. It took me three years living as a female to understand myself better and make a valid decision how I want to express my self. Completely understand that my body will always be that of a man, but I also understand that I have the freedom to express how I chose. I do agree however, that in order to find truth you have to ask questions and Matt helps me in my journey.
"Three years living as a female"- stop right there. Having two X chromosomes is not a lifestyle, not a self-expression. You are not an actor in a theater.
I hope you will start to find good therapists, psychiatrists to help to treat your possible gender dysphoria.

"Your body will be that of a man" - why, your soul, whatever else, became a biological female? No. You are your body, every cell in you says you are a male, no woman-costume will make you an actual one.

I have not been to the university since 3 years after Matt was born, since leaving in 1989 after graduating from law school. I’d have been horrified at the time at the prospect of attending a conservative event, but now?!? No longer young, but I’d love to have done so.
So much has since changed, and all for the worse imo. I’d never survive in today’s workplace. At least there are young ppl who can see beyond the delusion and authoritarianism of the movement about which he is speaking.

It's amazing to me that so many parents and others have no idea this and more insanity has been happening for a long time now in their own kid's schools. I guess it proves how busy most people are trying to get the American dream and we are losing America in the process.
I am from San Francisco and I have always been on the liberal libertarian side of things. When I was in high school I repeated the socially liberal, fiscally conservative phrase.
I am not alt-right at all or consecutive and I wouldn't ever consider being a republican but rational thought seems to be void. It's really sickening that the party I used to trust and watch advocate for things that were right and logical has turned this bad. Gavin Newsom used to be a hero to me. Now he is almost as bad as Justin Trudeau. Both, I am sure would make excuses for what san francisco has become or Portland.
Why are we talking about this when the world is crumbling and transgenders are not burning it.
I respect Matt and LGBT but does anyone see that the more the left gets extreme and make up problems the right counter acts and becomes more extreme. Does anyone recognize that BLM poured gasoline on the alt-right and visa versa.
It's history! 50s consecutive lead the 60s and 70s hippos and revolution which lead to 80s yuppies, Gordon geckos and burn outs. You can go on and on. Can't anyone figure out this out.
You can support transgenders and not need teachers to jam sexuality down kids throat. You can be open to people's life styles and supportive to your kids with out castration them.
I have an 8th grader who had 2 teachers. 1 non-bionary and they other over the top supportive. Other than a different suffix (Mx. Blah blah). She had an explanation day one and then was just another teacher. Actually one of the best. On the other hand her friend and supportive teacher. Could not stop talking about. Monitoring the kids tone and chats and flying off the handle if they even snickered. She spent the entire year harping on equality and even cut out homework and a school trip for equity. (Becauee some kids MIGHT not have access to internet or a comfortable safe space at home for homework). My daughter barley got an education. 98% of the class got over a 3.5. The only subject that seemed to get any attention was social studies. Accepted late work with no penalty and replaced elective with study hall. Where they only watched and discussed current events about social activism.
It was nuts

So true. I think the safe solution could be supporting the people and organisations that have dedicated their time and resources to such causes. Support could be as simple as subscribing to their services.

It seems to be different here in Scotland (UK). Its not all leftists, its right wing conservatives that deny biological facts too. Ive came to conclusion that its not all about politics, it seems to be a majority of people who have gay or trans friends, some generation x with gen z kids, and alot of millennials with gen z kids that are woke. My cousin is a millennial, conservative, just married his younger girlfriend, no kids, but all of a sudden has his pronouns on instagram!

I've toured college campuses lecturing on controversial topics. I think Matt might agree with me that it is heartening to encounter the many intelligent, sincere, and deeply thoughtful young people. They don't always get the attention but they are out there, as we're seeing on Matt's tour. I find that hopeful!
As a child I dreamt of being Dr Julius Sumnermiller, a horse, a cat, and heavens know how many more identities…thankfully my parents let me grow out of it gracefully without taking it any further….
My thoughts...
1) Removing the words "man and woman" from our vocabulary is transphobic. Without these two words, what will trans people identify as?
2) Medical and surgical transitioning are transphobic. If gender is between the ears, an internal feeling and a social construct, then forcing people to cross over into an opposite sex is forcing trans people into a rigid binary system. Gender is infinite, not binary male/female.
3) Pronouns are transphobic. They enforce a rigid binary system on an infinite gender construct. As there are an infinite number of genders, using the white oppressive system of grammar rules, such as pronouns, on trans people denies them their existence. Do not use any pronouns when referring to a trans person. Simply grunt or point your finger at them instead. That will be sufficient to let someone else know you are referring to them.
4) All Transsexuals are transgender but not all transgenders are transsexuals. Transgender is an umbrella term for people with gender dysphoria. People who have only socially transitioned are called transgender. People who have medically and surgically transitioned are called transsexual. Transsexual is an actual medical term used by doctors. So, please make sure you use the correct words otherwise you are transphobic.
5) Calling someone transphobic is transphobic. When you do this you are agreeing that the binary system exists. You are acknowledging that binary of male and female exist, otherwise why would you care if someone was being transphobic? You care because you agree that binary sex exists.
My son and his wife don't want kids currently as they don't want to bring a child into this world to immediately have evil all around them. Completely agree. Sad but understand.
That's sad but honestly . They shouldn't base there family on the outside world. If there goog people there kids will be good people! I know because we have raised a beautiful daughter and 6 other kids not ours! And they all turned out beautifully! It takes more then love but that's what you get with kids!
