  • The concept of the immortality of the soul and life after death is central to many religious teachings. These beliefs often include the idea of rewards and punishments based on one's actions during life, depicted through concepts like paradise and hell. The Bahá'í faith teaches that the soul continues after death, until it attains the presence of God. Its progress and condition is something we cannot comprehend on this earthly plane, but we are given some understanding. Like the child needs to develop the physical attributes in the womb that are needed here, we strive to develop the spiritual attributes we need there.
    Dr. Rodney Clarken is professor emeritus from Northern Michigan University where he served as head of the School of Education. His early experience in Native American and Tanzania schools influenced his outlook. For more than 40 years, he has worked in education with a focus on developing human potential. He served at the Bahai World Centre from 2012 to 2019 and is currently a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Virgin Islands.
