This is, by far, my favorite episode! Not only does it shatter all stereotypes and prejudices we have about incarcerated individuals, but it puts on the table an issue that we need to discuss openly now. We cannot revolt or speak of an uprising without dismantling the prison system! Thank you, Ali, for sharing your personal experience and advocating for the rights of people who are trapped in this judicial system. You speak truth to power - in EVER SINGLE WORD you uttered in this episode
From a man who went through a similar situation to another, I salute your positivity. To this day, I live in the trauma caused by the Lebanese system. The description of "heaviness" on the chest and hardship of being able to do the simplest tasks really got to me. No one can understand this. I wish you the best of luck in everything you do, Ali.
Ayman I feel you man, it was even harder when you first get out...no one prepares you for getting back into society. If you ever need to talk please reach out to me, I'm a good listener
This is the best sarde yet, Ali had me sitting for 2 hours wanting to know more and I can stay for another 2 listening to this man. Great job Medea and Mouin and I hope we can see more of Ali
I never comment on this platform. But to both Medea and Mouin I would like to commend your efforts in effecting change through this channel. To Ali, I can say you have my utmost respect. People like you are the ones that still give me hope in this country. Kudos for not allowing hate to cloud your thoughts!
Ali, get yourself a podcast! you are a fabulous storyteller. You give us insight into a hidden world and a forgotten people. As Mouin rightly said at the end, "everyone deserves a second chance". Everyone deserves to be viewed thru the lense of humanity and circumstance. Keep up your amazing work. And Mouin, Medea - keep bringing on these inspiring guests
Our country needs more free thinkers like Ali! Is there anywhere we can follow him on social media? His voice needs to be amplified! We can all learn more from his wisdom and experiences!
I remember Ali Baroudi. We were classmates in middle school. My family left the country after 7arb Tammouz, & I never kept in touch with anyone from my alma matter. But seeing him here tell his story after so many years is wild! What a transformation.
This was really interesting. Ali you need to write a book about Roumieh, about your experience there and how you developed on a personal level. we need a part 2 where Ali talks about why inmates are conditioned to go back to prison because of the corrupt system and shed more lights on this matter. A real sarde on the corruption.
