Apparently when filming this they couldn't get the girl playing Boo to sit still in the studios, so they followed her around the studio for a couple days and just recorded her playing with things which makes her dialog just that much CUTER.
4:15 The name of the restaurant, Harryhausen, was the name of a legend in stop-motion special effects; he was especially famous for animating monsters, like a Medusa in "Clash of the Titans" and a cyclops in "7th Voyage of Sinbad". Nice of Pixar to pay tribute to him in a movie about monsters
Nia Boo voiced by Mary Gibbs. Mary was about 3 or 4 years old when she was recorded with the help of her parents, Mary's reactions in scenarios as she runs around in the office of Pixar. Mary's father, Rob worked for Pixar as a director and story artist. Sadly, Rob passed away in 2020. Mary Gibbs has her own YT channel called Boo Grown Up.
Boo was voiced by an actual toddler and since she was too young to record proper lines or anything, they just played with her and followed her around the recording booth and used whatever she said in the film 😊 The streaming version seems to not always include the bloopers and bonuses that were always in the credits including the actual company play 'Put that thing back where it came from or so help me' which they did end up putting on
@@NiaMakiReacts I've noticed that with other reactors before. I don't know why it's not included on streaming. The bloopers/bonus scenes can easily be found on TH-cam 😊
Sulley fainting over and over again, is a reference to the Chuck Jones directed Merrie Melody short Feed the Kitty, where Marc-Anthony does the same reaction when she think his little kitten friend Pussyfoot is turned into a batch of cookies by his owner. Also Sulley scolding Boo and then highing her is also from the same cartoon when Marc-Anthony does the same to Pussyfoot.
Her little gurgle talking makes me cry everytime. The goodbye crushes me everytime. Cant wait until you watch the wild robot. Talk about parenting vibes.. .
I hope you watch the prequel *Monster's University.* The story centers around Mike more in that and how he and Sully met. I wasn't really a fan of this movie when it first came out and I can't remember why anymore. As I've grown and matured I can relate to Sully's bond with lil Boo now and this movie makes me cry. I have strong paternal emotions watching this
Funny how you can actually tell in the end that Boo's voice is definitely a little older. She's still clearly young enough to remember him, but not the babbling toddler anymore.
3:24 - The screams are the means in which they can produce electricity in that world. Their version of a nuclear plant, electric dam, wind turbine, or coal plant.
The scene where Boo is caught in the factory machinery is a copy of the classic Looney Tunes cartoon of the big bulldog babysitting a little kitten. I just looked them up and they were named Mark Antony and.... Pussyfoot. Sorry, it was the 1950s, they called her Pussyfoot.
At the time Pussy was always first and foremost associated with a cat, as in Pussycat - or 'putty-tat' if you are Tweety Bird - the association to a piece of female anatomy came much later.
These movies are made to pull at your heartstrings. I've watched so many reactions to these movies and they still make me tear up. Having emotions and showing them is a good thing, in my opinion, so don't apologize for crying.
I actually saw this movie in real time when I was little and still afraid of monsters. Once I watched it and saw that the monsters were afraid of humans, I slept better at night lol
Harry Hausen's, the club - in case you don't know - is a callback to Mr. Ray Harryhausen, a very famous (in animation circles, natch) special effects artist known especially for his stop-motion work in films from the 40s right up to his final film, 1981's Clash of the Titans. He was the creator of a specific form of stop-motion model animation known as Dynamation. Mighty Joe Young, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, and Jason and the Argonauts are some other more well-known films featuring his work.
I love that duet between Billy Crystal and John Goodman. The song "If I Didn't Have You" is fantastic. Also, if you don't recognize the voice of Mike's girlfriend Celia, that's Jennifer Tilly, best known as Tiffany, the love interest of the iconic serial killer doll Chucky.
Even if they learned kid weren't toxic they still would care. Scaring them was one thing, harming them is another. The monsters are just like regular people. With the obvious exception of Randall and Waternoose, no one did what they did with malice but simply because it was they job. That is what makes the movie deep: how many unethical things we as a society contribute to while not even realizing or caring about it simply because it is how things are and always were. It took getting attached to a kid for Sullivan a compassionate and decent man (or monster) to realize what he did every single day was wrong and emotionally hurt children.
Originally, Harryhausens was going to be blown up but then the 9/11 Attack happened and to not remind victims of the World Trade Center catastrophe, it was changed to being covered in a force field. Other movies that had to alter scenes due to 9/11 was Lilo & Stitch and Spider-Man.
@NiaMakiReacts Yeah, originally Stitch, Jumba, Pleakley and Nani would have hijacked a Boeng 747 to chase after Captain Gantu after he accidentally kidnapped Lilo when he caught Stitch. The whole chase took place in the capital of Kauaʻi. Because of 9/11, the Boeing 747 was changed into Jumba's ship and the setting changed to the mountains of Kauaʻi with the gang go to Jumba's ship after he begrudgingly agrees to help Stitch save Lilo.
Keanu is trying to become an internet star. I'm glad you watched The Big Lebowski, so now you know the voices of Sully (John Goodman/Walter) and Randall (Steve Buscemi/Donny).
Don’t remember if true but I heard that instead of a force field on the restaurant it was supposed to be an explosion but then 9-11 happened and they had to change it
Question? have you ever considered watching / reacting to the LOST series 🤔 Even after all these years and countless rewatches, it's still my favorite TV series ❤ and I think you'd enjoy it 😉
Interestingly, your cousin's sister doesn't have to also be your cousin. For exmaple, I have a cousin's brother who isn't my cousin. This cousin was a teenage pregnancy on my mothers side, and mom's brother had no part in raising her (although the rest of our family did) as he's just not a great guy. He ran off when my cousin was born, which means her mother was never legally my aunt and her half-brother has no blood relation to me.
So this is your first time watching monsters inc and the things that cross your mind are other ways to make people scream in their bedrooms and if medusa's have to feed their hair... I would like to ask you about your childhood but I would probably need a psychiatrist first.. And after
@@NiaMakiReacts little fun fact about the girl Boo.. That girl is really a perfect copy of the daughter of one of the producers. She looks exactly like the girl in real life. I seriously doubt it's the mere sounds of screams or laughter that makes the energy or you could have actually recorded the sound of laughter and be used over and over again to power up something but if you did that there wouldn't have been any energy crises. It seems like they're somehow sucked from the door and into canister and they seem to be like a kind of gas that then gets processed and somehow is used as energy.
