@@theartofphotography Practicing street photography in Zürich (or any other German-speaking place) is much different from doing street photography in the United States. I guess Marcel agrees. Having been in Zürich on numerous business trips over the years, I never had the feeling I could do street photography there. Probably because I am from Germany, where privacy laws pretty much ban you from photographing random people in the streets without their permission. And I think it is worth pointing out where those privacy concerns come from - we have experienced two dictatorships in the last century where privacy was constantly at threat.
John Blakemore calls it sequencing, he rarely consider an image, but rather a storey through a sequence of images. I have found this approach useful when thinking about my project work, one day I’ll make a zine and one day I’ll send it to Ted.
Can you explain that part about changing the viewpoint with different focal lengths being a problem? I thought it was based in documentary photography principles: trying to cover the scene in 2-3 shots. P.S. Your channel and contributors are truly amazing.
