  • There are two PID instructions in Rockwell Automation's CCW for the Allen Bradley Micro850/810/820/830/870 PLC. one is PID other is PID. we're going to talk about the basic configuration of the PID instruction.
The term PID stands for proportional integral derivative and it is one kind of device used to control different process variables like pressure, flow, temperature, and speed in industrial applications. In this controller, a control loop feedback device is used to regulate all the process variables.
1- Proportional Action tuning : involves correcting a target proportional to the difference. Thus, the target value is never achieved because as the difference approaches zero, so too does the applied correction.
2- Integral Action tuning: attempts to remedy this by effectively cumulating the error result from the "P" action to increase the correction factor. For example, if the oven remained below temperature, “I” would act to increase the head delivered. However, rather than stop heating when the target is reached, "I" attempts to drive the cumulative error to zero, resulting in an overshoot.
3- Derivative Action tuning: attempts to minimize this overshoot by slowing the correction factor applied as the target is approached.
