作詞者約瑟梅德利科特史克文（1819 - 1886）在經歷過兩次結婚前未婚妻離世的遭遇，痛不欲生，在他極度悲傷時有恩友耶穌安慰了他，自此他將生命、財產、光陰全獻給主。在1855年他寫下了這首詩去安慰病重的母親。此詩往後也安慰鼓勵了無數的人。
Joseph Medlicott Scriven (1819 - 1886) experienced twice the death of his future wife right before the wedding. Heartbroken, he found comfort in Jesus and gave up all he had to help people in need. In 1855, he penned the words to this poem to comfort his mother who was very ill in Ireland. It has since comforted, encouraged, and uplifted generations!
何等恩友慈仁救主，負我罪愆擔我憂！
What a Friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear!
何等權利能將萬事，來到耶穌座前求！
What a privilege to carry, Everything to God in prayer!
多少平安我們失去，多少痛苦冤枉受；
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear;
都是因為未將萬事，來到耶穌座前求！
All because we do not carry, Everything to God in prayer!
我們有無試探引誘？有無難過苦關頭？
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
不要灰心不要喪胆；來到耶穌座前求！
We should never be discouraged; Take it to the Lord in prayer!
何處得這忠心朋友，分擔一切苦與愁？
Can we find a Friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share?
我們弱點主都知道；放心到主座前求！
Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer!
主是我們永恆不變的良友，我們可以隨時隨地向祂傾吐心聲而蒙垂聽。〜荒漠甘泉樂侶〜
我們是否軟弱多愁，煩惱重擔壓肩頭？
Are we weak and heavy laden, Cumbered with a load of care?
主仍是我避難處所，來到耶穌座前求！
Precious Saviour, Still our refuge, Take it to the Lord in prayer!
你若正逢友叛親離？快到耶穌座前求！
Do your friends despise, Forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
到祂懷中祂必保護；與主同在永無憂。
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; You will find a solace there.
