After that the well was too deep to seal off with conventional methods because of the water pressure at that depth so the well kept spewing hundreds and thousands of gallons a day for something like weeks before they capped the well. Biggest ecological disaster of my generation because they wanted this well up and running before they had even created a safety plan to cap the well and then the poured the well wrong and blew it up.
