Definitely not plenty of environmental science positions. Degree in environmental science here and unemployed still.

Oof so sorry to hear that! Keep at it - the job market is very competitive right now but sustainability is one of the better industries to be in in terms of demand. If you have any specific questions let me know! I'd be happy to help out :)

“specialist” and “technician” are not entry level unless our economy has changed what we consider skilled labor

As someone who realized late in their undergrad/early in their post grad career that environmental science and policy was their passion, how would you suggest breaking back into sustainability?
I spent a couple years struggling in Mechanical Engineering courses before I made a switch to Political Science, focusing on environmental policy and sustainability. I've spent the last 4 years working on conservation corps through Americorps and on trail crews, but I'm finding it to be the time to switch to lighter, more technical work. Hopefully there's room for a late bloomer!

Thank you for watching! It is definitely not too late to break into sustainability. It sounds like you might have already made some good connections through your corps work - that is definitely going to help! I would recommend first reaching out to those connections, perhaps crew leaders, and seeing if they know of any open positions. You'll likely be very successful applying to local or state government positions, as they tend to really value time spent in the corps. I wish you all the best and so glad you're getting into sustainability!

Hi Maddy, thank you for the informative video. I have a degree in Urban Planning and would like to maybe get insight on short courses or certifications you would recommend for me to do that would assist me in breaking into sustainability?

This website has a good list of certifications that I would start with: www.greenbiz.com/article/33-sustainability-certifications-you-need-know. I wish you the best of luck!
