It's really sad because the director of this anime, Yasuhiro Takemoto, who also directed some of my other favorite animes like Hyouka and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. He passed away in a fire incident. May this legend rest in peace. I will always be grateful to this man.
It's phenomenal how much quality works KyoAni was releasing between the first decade of the 2000s, nothing has even nearly reached that level of commitment solely on animation at that time, this is some serious production. They set up a high standard for the whole slice of life anime production afterwards, they were the first to take the genre to the heart and legitimate it as a serious work of art, I'm so grateful for how much they made for animation.

For a show that is mostly comedy and an opening that is mostly comedic, this opening has some pretty awesome writing. The way it is totally silly and weird for most of it but then moves into a really well put together chorus then ends with more silliness really hits home with the idea of the show.
i remember being like 6 and seeing a bunch of 15 year old girls doing these 3 dances sequentially while singing this perfectly, i missed my opportunity of documenting it because no sane parent gived their 6 year old a phone.
