One important thing to remember when comparing Maradona to another player, is the fact that any defender tried to kill him when the ball was in their foots. Take a sharp look at any play, those bastards wanted to break his legs off and he managed to escape. And he has a level of enjoy hardly seen in some other player. Strength, speed, balance, tecnique, pride, enjoy, personality, love.

Yes. It's like they wanted to kill him. I don't think Pele is better than him in terms of dribbling and accuracy. Just Pele had more goals. It's hard to get the ball through more than 3 defenders willing to break your legs.
One more thing, when he fell, he went back up, not being a crybaby to draw the referee's attention.

Maradona cradling the world cup is the greatest sporting moment in history. When a player effectively won a team tournament on his own. His exclusion from the 78' WC squad and the failure of 82' was the reason this moment shows unbridled joy like few others. Hard to imagine what records he would break in modern football but we know how boring that would be. The most unique thing about Maradona is that all his skill is natural. He plays with passion. You can feel it when you watch it. Sometimes Ronaldo fakes and lets himself down on the ground. Sometimes Messi does it. But even it's a real big faul, Maradona continues to play. It's impossible to put him down. That talent comes from God. There is no other explanation about him.

Exactly. He was built like a small tank. A fucking fast and agile tank though :D It gave him fantastic balance, having a low centre of gravity and a somewhat stocky frame. Time and again you see him almost fall, but somehow regain his balance and continue.
One of a kind that guy. I shudder to think what he would have become with modern training techniques, modern nutrition, etc.

I do not think he will ever have any equal, If Mess I likes let him win 2 world cups and 5 champions leagues, if CR7 likes let him win 10 ballon Dors and score 1000 goals. When I see this game I am amazed, moved, delighted. I've never seen anyone play like this. It was impossible to take the ball away from him, they could only knock him down or hurt him with extreme anger. He could score from any corner of the pitch. Not wanting to ridicule all of his opponents, many considered themselves champions. For this he was special, brilliant, divine. Nice video, thanks for these pictures.

Barely trained? What is this BS? There are so many videos of him non stop physically and technically. Plus Messi and basically everyone today train technically and physically with dedication. Football was and is far different from then.
Zayn Shaikh my friend Maradona trained very hard after the destroyed his ankle ( which robbed him of 40 plus percent of his ability) then he started doing cocaine in 84 went to Napoli and he never trained as his teammate did ... I’m Italian and I remember his time a Napoli ... Maradona Is the greatest In any era ... we only seen ( I argue that you have) only little of what he could have done ..without vices and that terrible ankle injury ... Messi can only lick his boots
@@luislizard2626 This is a big misconception, Maradona did train, in Barcelona he actually had them replace the coach with Cesar Menotti as he didn't like early morning training. He still trained as much as his teammates, it's only later when his vices destroyed him did he start missing training. His ability on the ball was uncanny, but I have an issue with your whatever percentage of ankle mobility missing, I can't trust any sources I find on it but i think it was 20% lost, seems alot but if you look at him before an after, he was the same player, just less fluid. There's an idea that most of his talent was taken from us, what really was taken from us was a more fluid maradona.

I'd say that Pele is the greatest ever, but Maradona is the best ever!
Both all time top 10. That Brazilian team was ridiculous and both of those guys deserve the upmost of respect! But neither were on Diego's level. Come on, deep down you know it. This guy did too much on his own to be compared to anyone. Not only has his technical ability with a football never ever been reached, his leadership ability is arguable even greater, yet somehow seldom praised for some reason. That's why he will always come out on top in any and all comparisons for me. He entertained better than anyone ever has, he awed, and most of all... he led by example and won.
He is BY FAR, the best player the world has ever seen. Comparing Messi and Ronaldo to him is not only beyond short sighted, it's quite frankly, down right insulting.
