I have an idea for splatoon 3 dlc that changes the outcome based on customization. It also involves the two agents (4 and 8). One agent disappears and one joins your adventure. For example, if your character is an Inkling, then the agent that goes on your adventure is 8 and 4 disappears. And vice versa.
Or maybe like the final splatfest for splatoon 2 changes what goes first for Splatoon 3. For example, we see the chaos theme for the first part, but what about order for the second? What if there’s new opportunities to explore like a corporatacracy or a corruptive business connected to Grizzco? The possibilities are endless!
the last one really hit. I mean, I knew about it but still.... 7 years.... I basicly started with 3 but that dosn't change my path. I decended into darkness, was dragged out of it by alot of great youtubers, saw most of their primetimes/times end, was backstabed into the darkness once more, had my final clash with school and went into the void of not finding the right job for me. And now all I do is being the only responsible adult of the SMG4 wiki (yes it still exists. still a little bit policestate and mostly lifesentences tho) and storywriter/Producer (with no expirience at this point). (speaking of the meme man, that's where my splatoon 3 name is from. only tipp: an octoling. (but with a shirt of an inkling in my case))
The age part has really gotten to me. Lots of time passed before we all knew it. I was 11 when splatoon came out and never had a Wii U but always watched yt videos. Rn I’m 18 I’m focusing on having a driver’s license, balancing work and college, along with spending time with my love ones. Truly a franchise everyone grew up with no matter when you started as a child or an adult. What a milestone
Omg it’s the exact same for me, 11-18 with this game. I remember being in 6th grade and being so excited to come home to play splatoon. Man, time really passes
Bro same i was obsessed with splatoon 1 and i was only 12 years old. Splatoon 2 came out when i was in highschool turning 15. And now im in college about to turn 20 tomorrow . 😢
I was in 9th grade when the first game came out and I was obsessed. Still like the series but life calls for other responsibilities. Kinda crazy how much time has passed and how much I've grown since that first game
I love that you put emphasis on how crazy Shiver is. She's a goofy silly wild girl. I love her. In my opinion, and based on how clumsy and flustered she gets during the boss battle (and how she's so quick to fake cry and is generally very dramatic), she really isn't as cold and cool as she pretends to be. And I love it. That paired with her beautiful and unique (Japanese traditional inspired) design, and her enka singing; Shiver is just one of the best fictional characters around right now. Nintendo is so good at designing characters.
@@sherbertshortkake6649 I see it in her. She reminds me of a mix between the wisest but most fun and personable elder and a LARPer who takes their craft really seriously and just has unbothered fun with it. Just, a great blend of both ironically and unironically cool as a person.
8:38 the reason why Shiver’s Spanish name is Megan is because it’s a shark reference, specifically to a Megalodon. 9:14 Frye’s is a reference as well, Angie being taken from the word “anguila” that translates to eel. 10:05 Big Man’s name is simpler, it’s a play on the name Ryan and Mantarraya (manta ray), since the ‘raya’ part sounds just like the name Ryan
Also I find the German names of Deep Cut to be quite fun aswell - Shiver is named Mako after a Mako Shark, Frye is named Muri after a german term for a type of eel and Big Man is called Mantaro after the german term Mantarochen for a manta ray!
The bit about the Dynamo Roller's origins is more than just a neat line to add worldbuilding, that's actually how you unlock it in Splatoon 1. Each boss fight contained a sunken scroll of weapon blueprints made by Sheldon's grandfather. The Dynamo Roller was one of two completely original weapons from these blueprints, the other being the Aerospray
Okay I’m a Splatoon super fan. I’m genuinely known by people irl as “The person who won’t shut up about Splatoon”. This is a very in depth and well made video, but I will correct a few things if I see them. 27:10 The band is known as Front *Roe*-it’s a pun! (Roe being a fish egg-the type that the power eggs are actually based on) 28:19 Crusty Sean was the shoe shop owner from Splatoon 1 and sold drinks and snacks in Splatoon 2! He’s been there ever since the beginning 47:02 You can also change the Captains “gender” in the crater area by interacting with a drawing found in Craig’s little hideout area 56:02 The theory presented is interesting however the songs are confirmed by the devs to actually just be named after their “vibe”. She actually canonically chose to be sanitized to become completely dedicated to her music. 1:23:38 Splatoon 1 and 2s Inkfish are the same age- at 14 years old- but the guys from 3 definitely look (key word look) a bit older. It could just be graphical improvements though. 1:25:54 Another non-issue but this sign can’t stop me because I can’t read! Aka, I don’t think my love for this game will ever become a distant memory. I mean…it’s such a giant part of my life. I know pretty much everything about it, and I don’t think that the game will ever leave my life.
There was a Splatoon 2 interview that said that in the new game, a new group of 14 year olds will step up to the plate. This is presumably what it’s like for splatoon 3, since it’s what we have closest to a confirmed age. So it’s probably just updated graphics. Or maybe they are sixteen this time, though that doesn’t make as much sense. I highly doubt they are any older then that tho
Fun fact: You can’t actually change the Captain’s gender, you just change their hairstyle. In dialogue with Callie and Marie, Captain is referred to by They/Them pronouns regardless of the hairstyle you choose
I got into Splatoon 2 at the end of my 8th grade year. I loved the colorful characters and the appeal for the game. And now, I’m a Senior in high school. I’m about to go to college. Splatoon has had such a big impact on my life. I’ve met so many friends who love the game. I’ve had so many memories playing with them. And now, I’m about to graduate, moving on in my life. And this game still has a big impact on me, all these years later.
I'm not sure how you can argue that the Chaos vs Order splatfest in Splatoon 2 didn't really determine anything when the changes you mentioned add up to far more than how the Callie vs Marie splatfest affected Splatoon 2, all while citing the latter as a positive example. Callie vs Marie is relevant to the story mode of Splatoon 2 and nothing else. Chaos vs order permeates the entirety of Splatoon 3. The wasteland, the style of the new music, Splatsville's mesh of old and new buildings, multiculturalism being Deep Cut's defining trait, the loudest splatfests yet, crazier normal salmon run shifts alongside King Salmonids and Big Run, and some smaller details I'm likely forgetting all contribute to the chaos theming of Splatoon 3, with Alterna providing a nice, contrasting slice of order in it's setting. Hell, I'd argue that this game's multiplayer design and balance philosophy was influenced by the final splatfest. All of the maps in this game are smaller, have fewer flanking routes and less cover to hide behind than the ones in the first two games. This forces more direct confrontations out in the open, and more chaotic firefights
100% agree and for the most part I absolutely love and see the chaos theme everywhere in this game - That said, god do I hope the bad map designs aren't intentionally the way they are because "chaos" lol. Lack of flank routes causing everyone to funnel into mid and essentially creating another Quick Respawn meta is the only huge problem I have with the game and I do honestly hope it's something the devs aren't doing on purpose for the theming
@@MistKitten The new design philosophy is pretty contentious, so while I don't mind it that much I wouldn't be surprised if the devs remodeled the stages at some point once enough people complain. The tricolor changes made for version 2.0 give me faith that the devs are willing to put their initial vision in the backseat if it messes with the game's quality
@@skylarmclean8239 That's is also true. I'm glad they didn't go only in the edgy, lawless desert apocalypse direction for this game. Splatoon 3's interpretation of chaos is a refreshingly positive one
I feel like the idols and whole story plays into the chaos. i have seen speculation that if order won the idols would be different. changing the story mode pretty drastically. the little effect it had pearl and marina was also felt by the residents of the games. wanting more chaos they moved to a more chaos area. but thats my take
About the Spanish names Megan probably is derived from "megalodón" an extincted ancient species of sharks Angie is a feminine name derivated from "anguila" (eel in Spanish) And Rayan comes from "mantarraya" (manta ray in Spanish) hence the name "mantarRAYAN" What I like the most is, those are common names that people can use in some Spanish speaking countries, those sound really natural, specially "Rayan"
2:00 The fact that there’s an official map, this makes me wish there were other areas we can hang out in, besides Splatsville 8:38-8:41 I wonder if that’s where Master Mega got his name, as it sounds very similar and the pun is similar. Like how Pearl’s stage name, “MC Princess” most likely comes from her Japanese name, “Hime” I also can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I like their Spanish names even more than their English names In fact, I have a theory, what if their names, Shiver, Frye and Big Man are actually just musical alter egos or stage names and their Spanish names are actually their real names
45:23 when you first start story mode in that area, the wall is completely fixed. However, after you shoot the rocket through the sky, a hole is left behind :)
That last part, it hit hard. I have grown up with Splatoon, and I mean actually grown up with it. No, I’m not going to give actual ages but, during Splatoon 1’s release I didn’t play the game, my brother did. I grew up sitting on a beanbag in my basement watching him play turf wars. By the time of the second game I had gotten my very own Switch and played it nonstop. Sadly, there was only one game card in our house, so I missed most Splatfests and couldn’t play alongside my brother. I could hardly remember anything from the 1st game, but there’s still this sense of nostalgia seeing it. When playing the second game I can tell you for years I sucked. Even when Splatoon three was announced I was still scared of Anarchy, hardly touched the story mode, but loving salmon run. I mained one weapon and couldn’t figure out how to use the others. Finally though, during the summer right before Splatoon three I stepped up, I completed the story mode, made a deadline to return to the play and play the DLC, used some new weapons and got obsessed. And in September Splatoon three dropped. I was new person. I still didn’t know anyone (outside of my brother) who played the game, but I loved it. I played with new weapons, got more used to them, completed the story mode in around a week. I did the postgame, I beat my hours on the second quickly, I continued to push through salmon run, I still sucked at anarchy, and two game cards were bought. Once the game came out I crushed my brother in everything. I grew. It’s a one of a kind experience to be able to see yourself grow through a game. But, no matter what, I loved the franchise. And I’m always so proud to say I truly grew up with it.
I’m guessing with salmon run it’s a lot harder because of the more extreme conditions of the splat lands in general. The reason there’s not a lot of maps might also be because Inkopolis’ salmon run was just more popular, probably being the main work space for the business so grizz could be farther away and not arouse suspicion. Then when he noticed more inklings and octolings moving towards splatsville he decided to begin cleaning up some of the salmon run stages there to extend his business and also hoping that nobody was suspecting him enough to go searching around and stumble upon alterna or something
That last section hit hard. I was 7(i think) when splat 1 released. I was gifted splat 1 from my aunt on a whim for my 8th birth day. Splatoons 1 update cycle was long gone at that point and splatoon 2 was done adding weapons. I liked it so much it made me want a switch for christmas. I actually got splatoon 2 before christmas(The game was equivalent to a months allowance).Since then ive finished elementary and all of middle school. Now im a freshman in highschool. Its strange to think splatoon has been an ever increasing part of my life for so long. Also clash blaster and bloblobber are L crutch weapons that impead you from getting better.
The age part hits especially hard for me because I was 14 when the first Splatoon came out, the same age as the inklings are in that game and as such I grew up right alongside them. I've also been playing Splatoon since 2015 and it's so hard to believe 7 years have passed since then. It's insane how much time seems to speed up as you age
I’ve heard it said this map lines up with a part of Japan, right down to how far the Splatlands are from a City. Considering the size of the Japanese Home Islands to the rest of the world, I do look forward to seeing what some other parts of the world look like.
Actually, the Stringers have a bit more too em too! The Reef-Lux has parts of a milk-yogurt drink (most visible at the nozzle), and the Tri-Stringer is made up of a bunch of fishing rod parts. I love Splatoon weapon design lol Anyway, nice video overall!! In particular the editing, especially on the intro & transitions, was great
The Grizz reveal was super fun because even if you assumed he was a bear, he seemed to… not be one anymore. Because come on, how many species of bears do you think can do what he does and move like he does??
Started playing splatoon since splat 2, some things have changed, but my love for the games never goes away, and I hope that it stays like that for a long time
That aging entry kinda hit me hard man like 7 years ago I was 9 years old and ironically the day you release this video I turn 16 and I feel like this series is the one I've Grown up with throughout my life and it feels special to me because of that and like I just love the way you put that in the end you are an amazing writer you really know how to make me laugh or even feel sad I truly hope you continue to have a great youtube career
44:24 / 44:45 I assume that the hole we see in alterna's skybox is where the player's character fell through after the first part of the story mode were we defeated Octavio, I always thought that's what is was anyways.
1:01:25 you forgot the other MariGold who works at Grizzco. This one gives you the rewards or let you redeem fish scales at the counter inside Grizzco's building. You can hear it's MariGolds voice talking to you Edit: oh wait lol I see you mentioned it in 1:06:58
i like the splatoon aging. splatoon 1 : you're in your early 10's, all kid and joy and innocent. splatoon 2 : you're around 14-15, being cool is a main aspect of your life, and you have more responsabilities than before (salmon run). splatoon 3 : you're around 16-17, much more mature than before, taller, you still have fun but your interests has also changed. your tastes in clothes are more developped, and you have a unique vue of the world. you've grown up but still find fun is the same things you did at 10. idk why but i love to imagine this way of evolution for the splatoon series and chara designs :)
Now that I think about it your right about Splatoon growing up with it's players. I remember when the first Splatoon game came out and I was still a little kid that thought that there were no problems with the Wii U, when Splatoon 2 came out I was around 10 and its crazy that it's already been more than 5 years since that game came out. I'm 16 now and I've grown so much in the last year, I started a TH-cam channel, I've matured, I started becoming self aware and started thinking for myself. It's crazy how fast time flies and how things from only a few years ago could feel so nostalgic. I love how Splatoon is growing with it's players cause it makes the games unique, Mario will always be the 30 year old plummer and Link will always be the young hero but Splatoon is trying to grow up with its players and there's something about that that I love, I like seeing the characters and games changing and evolving the same way we as people change and evolve over time.
The last part caught me so off guard- I remember the day I got Splatoon 1 not long after it was released. I was a little kid then and I was so excited to try the game out. I was absolutely captured by it, playing non stop turf wars but ironically too scared to try story mode. Years passed and I took a massive break from the game and dove into Splatoon 2 right as the final fest ended. Then Splatoon 3 was announced and, much to my surprise, came out on my birthday as I turned 15. From being barely able to bring my cowardly self to a story mode mission to beating the final boss of Splatoon 3, I can confidently say I’ve learned a lot since then. What a wild ride this has been, I don’t think this game will ever be forgotten. Heck, if we die out and a new intelligence arises, I can bet Splatoon will be borrowed from our culture and forever engraved in theirs. Damn I love this game…
Fun facts about the spanish translations!! Frye is called Angie, because it sounds similar to anguila (eel) Shiver is called Megan because of the shark species "megalodon" Big man is rayan because Manta Ray, Manta Rayan
Honestly tho, really great video man, youre editing skills are really great! They've improved a ton! The iceberg was really interesting and ill be keeping more up to date on your stuff from now on. Rock on ;D (Also cant believe you included some of those terrible outtakes ahahhaahah)
1:23:53 the fact that I was I also in high school when splat1 came out and now here in 2022 getting closer to graduating college in May of this year shows that a lot has changed over 7 years. Who would have imagined a 20 year old would still be playing nintendo games like splatoon, Pokémon, Zelda, and Kirby? Goes to show the staying power nintendo has. I’m playing yo-Kai Watch 1 while watching this iceberg. 7 years since splat1 and hoping for splat3 and PS/PV dual pack for Christmas and I got my switch with a copy of splat2, undertale, and batim for Christmas 2018. Time sure does feel like it not going by when it is. Boy I remember 7 years ago watching splatoon lore videos and here I am watching a splatoon 3 iceberg and being upset at nintendo for choosing a big bad for splat3’s hero mode THAT EVERYONE was calling thus making it predictable. I hate predictable bad guys or you being able to predict who the bad guy is without it being said but solely due to in-game evidence. Makes me wonder, when will lil’ Judd be the villain of hero mode?
18:00 another one being the arospray is based off of air spray brushes, the Iwata brand looks quite Simmilar to the ones In game, funny how it's called Iwata and the late president of Nintendo Iwata.
Man this gave me actual chills The end to this seriously just puts me into perspective of how long it’s been, 7 years is a long time when you’re a young person
Splatoon started in the year I graduated high school. I never could play it till a couple months ago. I got into it watching Chuggaaconroy Let's Play it in 2016. From that LP I had chosen my weapon, the octobrush and promised that the next game, I would get it and play it. I think that was also the year I met my boyfriend and he's fine listening to me gush about this little ink series. And in 2017 I did, and when I did I managed to find a group of people to play with. We grew, we tried playing in tournaments to disastrous results, inviting many people we met, had some problems, and shrunk, but the core people involved stayed. We participated Splatfest to Splatfest. I became the tactition, examining maps, what weapons people tend to play, work around that. I was the distraction, the one that sneaks behind the entire team and make a mess, or the one who kills everyone on the other side the most. I played the Octobrush the most but also picked up the Sploosh. Makes sneaking and running away easier. I made it a goal to reach X rank when it arrived and I reached it several times despite the matching. In reality, I'd probably broken many Octobrushes along the way and paid Sheldon a lot for replacements. By the time 3 came round, I promised I'd try to reach X again one last time in Splatoon 2 to wish it goodbye and all the memories made. Lots of things happened, Covid sure, parents getting a divorced, money becoming tight. Having to make choices, like not getting paid to save our business from becoming broke. Sort of resolve from this is to get up the motivation to continue part 3 of my series despite how tired and unfocused I am. I owe it to the people who give life to my characters. Goals now? I suppose be the best Octobrush user I can and reach X again. Strangely I picked up the Luna Blaster, I'd say I'm decent at it. The Clan is still together, maybe not too many people, but we're always looking for recruits. Of course there's still work to do. Though the world seems to want to burn itself up, I think things are going to get better despite all the chaos and sadness that has arrived in my life, and maybe in yours too. Things will change. For the better.
fun fact: you can change Captain 3's look in splatoon 3 by going back to the crater. You can do this by walking up to the zap fish plush in Alterna. When ur in the crater you can go to the tent on the right to change the Captain's look.
I’ve been invested in splatoon horror ever since the start. And this is feeding my splatoon 3 horror needs! It even has some facts and lore which is very interesting. You deserve a sub my guy!
1:16:41 Honestly, if Hideki was the music producer for Splatoon 3, it would actually make me care about the soundtrack. Been a fan of him since Sonic Rush Also, that last entry kinda hit. I first discovered Splatoon when I was still in elementary school. Now I’m 19 going on 20 years old in community college and still care about this series. Great vid, man.
the biblical inspirations for splatoon lore… man THAT’s something you dont expect from a kids game edit: my hc for the captain is that they use sign language. marie speaks for them bc callie didn’t bother to learn it and doesn’t REALLY need to
When you’re talking about wanting to have more chaos clothes and stuff, small frys amiibo gear is revolving around chaos. The gear is literally called chaos helm, chaos commander suit and chaos kicks. That’s literally all the chaos clothes we get unfortunately 😢
In my personal opinion, Splatoon 2 Hero Mode felt like "final splatfest related subplot" while Octo Expansion felt like "The main story" This is reinforced by Octo Expansion featuring Craig and the current idols, just like how the Splatoon 1 Hero Mode features Craig and the current idols, and Splatoon 3 Alterna features Craig and the current idols. While the DLC for Splatoon 3 seems to so far have no Craig and the idols from the previous game, something surprisingly in common with splatoon 2 hero mode because that one also has no Craig and the idols from the previous game, which makes me feel like it's almost already confirmed that the splatfest will affect the DLC more.
A thing to consider with the results of the final Splatfest in Splatoon 2 is that how Chaos got defined in Splatoon 3. While in the video you state the Chaos is defined as a sort Mad Max style thing there is a minor amount of that with the Splatlands be a barren wastland of sorts but the devs have taken a unique approach with the term chaos, i think Chaos is defined as a freedom of expression. Look at the the mix of cultures in Deep Cut, they are the representatives of the Splatlands and each of the three couldn't be different from one another despite being from the same place. Also a nod to the Chaos vs Order Splatfest is that every Inkling and Octoling has the colours of gold and silver of the teams on the tips of there hair.
Dude, i was 9 years old when splatoon came out, i had a huge different way of living, i remember watching the tv adds while telling my dad that i wanted a wii u to play Splatoon with him and he just keep telling me "when that guy pays me I'll get you one", as the years passed, deception by deception made me sad and started to not ask my dad for nothing, by the time Splatoon 2 came out, i knew i wasn't gonna get anything so i didn't even mentioned it, but in 2015 my dad sued the company that neglected many payments to him indirectly causing heavy monetary problems like i had just a bread for birthday or imagine how heartbreaking was to get 1 shirt for Christmas for years while our cousins recieved toys and videogame consoles, so, in the middle of 2019, the sue finally ended, he ended up getting more money because of the 4 year gap (in which every Christmas or birthday my dad also promised me wonders that ended up in nothing) so one day, going back from college only my dad and bigger brother were in the house, when i went in my dad hugged me strongly, at the moment i didn't knew he got the money so it was strange, he accompanied me to my room where a black bag was in my bed and he said that he got the money, i went to the bag and there it was!! a shirt... i almost collapsed in tears but when i turned around my dad had a switch in his hands!! I really cannot describe the mix of feeling i had, and he even gave it to me with splatoon 2 and a pro controller, it was one of my best moments in my whole life and even now im in tears even after 4 years, by the date i write this in November 4rth of 2023, my life has changed drastically in those 4 years, 2 of my cats left this world, I've lost a lot of material stuff, my family is broken in 2 pieces because my sister had a stroke and even though she is fine she became more aggressive not letting anyone visit or even communicate with her hugely insulting my mom who actually saved her life when she had the stroke
this is such a sad story I'm so sorry you had to deal with that hurt and disappointment for so long, I'm so happy to hear you did get the switch after so long but im even more sorry to hear about your family situation. Have a beautiful Christmas and a safe new year❤ Keep your chin up
although shiver's name in spanish is megan, it's a pun for "megalodonte" (megalodon shark), same for frye/angie, "anguila" which is eel. same for big man, rayan , which comes from the word "mantaraya"
1:25:39 I've changed since the first splatoon game. I was 5 now I'm 12. I've gone through 1 depression and still in my second. I've grown up a lot. I've made new friends and done new things. And I to have lost someone. So to answer your question. Yes. I have changed since the first splatoon game.
As a spanish person, i think i know the reason behind their names Megan, just straight up sounds like Megalodon Angie, not sure what its supposed to represent, i like it though and Rayan, is because we call Manta´s Manta Rayas so ig it comes from Rayas idk man
58:38 I love how for frisk they drew two flowers with a face with yellow pedals which in the game undertale is there a flower with a face with yellow pedals and the character you play as is named frisk now idk if this was intentional or not but if it is NICE
Tw. God you just made me spiral into something at the end there…these last seven years have not been the best to me. Sure, I’ve had some good times, I met my fiancé, finished secondary school and sixth form, but I’m not as good as I was. I feel like a shell of myself, like all the joy was sucked out of me. I’ve been abused, abandoned, and gone through a lot of mental health shit…stuff I’m still recovering from. My dad left, I dropped out of Uni, and my mum thinks I’m a spirit medium due to the voices in my head. I struggle to go out of the house, I have no job, and I’ve basically cut off every friend I had because I didn’t want them to see the husk of what I used to be. I used to be bright and bubbly, and I can be, but the anxiety, the whispers, the depression, everything just comes down on me so much it hurts. I’m shaky all the time, eating one, maybe two meals a day that I usually get someone else to make because I can’t be bothered to do that for me. I don’t even brush my hair or teeth anymore, there’s no point. I’ve gained so much weight, lost so much energy, and I just feel like there’s not much left that can be taken, apart from my family, and even then that’s being destroyed. My sisters been abused too, self harming as a result and having a disorder that causes her brain to short circuit during stress and her to just collapse. My mum does nothing but work, cater to my sister (she can’t get home from school by herself), or drink and smoke weed to “help her sleep”. She spends at least one or two times a week now at her mates house, and all they do is give her drugs and alcohol and deal with the breakdown that comes with it. Then when she gets home she breaks down again. I don’t want to have to be the strong one anymore. I don’t want to have to push down my own problems and pretend I’m just being lazy so everyone else can have validation. They deserve validation, but I do too. I’m on a cocktail of antidepressants and supplements to help my diet, no 19 year old should have a full pill box and be excited to fill it every month. And even then they don’t work how I want them to. This isn’t causation depression. I wake up without the energy to even pick up my phone, wishing I could just be erased. My mum bought me an art shed so that I wouldn’t make a mess in the house, and I spend no time out there purely because the effort going into plugging in the electrics, going out there, warming it up, and actually working on something is too much for me. It doesn’t sound like a lot…and it’s not to most people, but to me it feels like I climbed a mountain when I go outside or make myself a meal. The antidepressants help, but not to the degree I want them to. I’ve tried a therapist…but I studied psychology and therefore felt like I was being talked down to when they explained basic terms, even though they knew I did psychology. I felt a level of condescension, and ended up just ghosting her. It’s not her fault, I’m sure she was a good therapist, but the process didn’t gel with my mental state. Wow that was a lot of dumping. Don’t feel pressured to say anything or even finish this…it’s kinda nice just to vent sometimes. I’m working on bettering myself…I mean when you’re at rock bottom, there’s nowhere else to go but up I guess :).
Hey dude, I watched your video of creepy ads and PSAs. And in this part, you talked about the "Stairs domestic abuse PSA" where you brought up that at the end of the PSA there is a Pizza Hut ad placement. I actually looked and watch the PSA on many videos, and most of them (expect only one which is fake) don't have the Pizza Hut placement. And honestly, it was most likely that it was edited to have the Pizza Hut logo at the end. Also, I notice that during the Pizza Hut placement, it has a very slightly different shade of black then before. And the one with Chis Cunningham, it was the name of the director and the "Mental Wealth" ad was actually meant to promote for the PS1 in 1999. Chris has also made other commercials and a bunch of music videos for Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, and Bjork. I recommended to you to watch "Come to Daddy", "Windowlicker", and "Rubber Johnny" by Aphex Twin, you can (almost) understand the style that Chris has.
IMO, the final splatfest for Splatoon 2 shouldve just been Pearl VS Marina, and the minor chaos elements could be there without the idea of it being truly CHAOTIC.
Pretty sure marigolds secret identity in the sunken scrolls are just revealing what breed of goldfish she is, it says nishiyo ORANDA which is a phat lil adorable goldfish with a dorsal fin and it also says RANCHI YU which is a play on ranchu who are also phat adorable fellas ( i actually have 2 they get massive)
Thanks for watching! 🦑🐙🐟

Sunflower, can you please please please do an EarthBound/Mother Trilogy Iceberg? I would love to see that
I have an idea for splatoon 3 dlc that changes the outcome based on customization.
1:14:44 This ost isn't Laura from Silent Hill 2
The age part has really gotten to me. Lots of time passed before we all knew it. I was 11 when splatoon came out and never had a Wii U but always watched yt videos. Rn I’m 18 I’m focusing on having a driver’s license, balancing work and college, along with spending time with my love ones. Truly a franchise everyone grew up with no matter when you started as a child or an adult. What a milestone
Omg it’s the exact same for me, 11-18 with this game. I remember being in 6th grade and being so excited to come home to play splatoon. Man, time really passes
literally the same for me!
Holy shit. I'm not the only one with the almost exact same history with it...
Since she's also inspired by Japanese storytellers she's supposed to be pretty expressive.
@@sherbertshortkake6649 Yes! Expressive is the word I was looking for. Truly she's wonderful. :3
Shiver my beloved
@@sherbertshortkake6649 I see it in her. She reminds me of a mix between the wisest but most fun and personable elder and a LARPer who takes their craft really seriously and just has unbothered fun with it.
Just, a great blend of both ironically and unironically cool as a person.
8:38 the reason why Shiver’s Spanish name is Megan is because it’s a shark reference, specifically to a Megalodon.
9:14 Frye’s is a reference as well, Angie being taken from the word “anguila” that translates to eel.
10:05 Big Man’s name is simpler, it’s a play on the name Ryan and Mantarraya (manta ray), since the ‘raya’ part sounds just like the name Ryan
they're still sad as hell though
Actually Big Man's spanish name is not Ryan, it's "Rayan", from Mantarraya
@@zeoxdragon it is Rayan! I just mentioned that the pun comes from the name Ryan and mantarraya together
@@Shxnon aha, but what you didnt expect was my lack of brain to properly read your comment in the first place!
Lol sorry
Frye is also named Angie in the french version, in french, eel is "anguille", so yeah it's basically the same reason as Spanish
Also I find the German names of Deep Cut to be quite fun aswell - Shiver is named Mako after a Mako Shark, Frye is named Muri after a german term for a type of eel and Big Man is called Mantaro after the german term Mantarochen for a manta ray!
Mantarō is also the Japanese name which works out very neatly!
m&m's but its the uncanny deutsch version
The bit about the Dynamo Roller's origins is more than just a neat line to add worldbuilding, that's actually how you unlock it in Splatoon 1. Each boss fight contained a sunken scroll of weapon blueprints made by Sheldon's grandfather. The Dynamo Roller was one of two completely original weapons from these blueprints, the other being the Aerospray
Still love the fact that the only language where Big Man doesnt speak in Ays and actually talks normally is Portuguese
proof that big man is from brazil:
BRAZILIAN BIG MAN!!!
Okay I’m a Splatoon super fan. I’m genuinely known by people irl as “The person who won’t shut up about Splatoon”. This is a very in depth and well made video, but I will correct a few things if I see them.
27:10 The band is known as Front *Roe*-it’s a pun! (Roe being a fish egg-the type that the power eggs are actually based on)
28:19 Crusty Sean was the shoe shop owner from Splatoon 1 and sold drinks and snacks in Splatoon 2! He’s been there ever since the beginning
47:02 You can also change the Captains “gender” in the crater area by interacting with a drawing found in Craig’s little hideout area
56:02 The theory presented is interesting however the songs are confirmed by the devs to actually just be named after their “vibe”.
I highly doubt they are any older then that tho
im knowm as that person aswell -_-
Fun fact: You can’t actually change the Captain’s gender, you just change their hairstyle. In dialogue with Callie and Marie, Captain is referred to by They/Them pronouns regardless of the hairstyle you choose
@@BigOlGooberr Yeah, that’s why “gender” is in quotes but you’re right-probably should’ve specified lol
@@Fryeisgod Yeah, probably. Just threw the fact that they look older out there (like I said I do think that graphical improvements are the cause)
Yet again THANK YOU!!! This came out great after 3 hard months! Im proud of my part I did with dedf1sh! Need anything in the future you got me!
🤓 Um actually *buffs
I live in like a roller coaster but it’s OK I guess I’m getting there thank you for❤
I'm not sure how you can argue that the Chaos vs Order splatfest in Splatoon 2 didn't really determine anything when the changes you mentioned add up to far more than how the Callie vs Marie splatfest affected Splatoon 2, all while citing the latter as a positive example.
Also, actual chaos isn't easily created through code, and it would become edgy for no real reason.
@@skylarmclean8239 That's is also true. I'm glad they didn't go only in the edgy, lawless desert apocalypse direction for this game. Splatoon 3's interpretation of chaos is a refreshingly positive one
I feel like the idols and whole story plays into the chaos. i have seen speculation that if order won the idols would be different. changing the story mode pretty drastically. the little effect it had pearl and marina was also felt by the residents of the games. wanting more chaos they moved to a more chaos area. but thats my take
About the Spanish names
Megan probably is derived from "megalodón" an extincted ancient species of sharks
Angie is a feminine name derivated from "anguila" (eel in Spanish)
And Rayan comes from "mantarraya" (manta ray in Spanish) hence the name "mantarRAYAN"
What I like the most is, those are common names that people can use in some Spanish speaking countries, those sound really natural, specially "Rayan"
2:00 The fact that there’s an official map, this makes me wish there were other areas we can hang out in, besides Splatsville
8:38-8:41 I wonder if that’s where Master Mega got his name, as it sounds very similar and the pun is similar. Like how Pearl’s stage name, “MC Princess” most likely comes from her Japanese name, “Hime”
I also can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I like their Spanish names even more than their English names
In fact, I have a theory, what if their names, Shiver, Frye and Big Man are actually just musical alter egos or stage names and their Spanish names are actually their real names
DLC... World Tour... Off the Hook...
"And if you're spanish, you get:"
*M E G A N .*
Also clash blaster and bloblobber are L crutch weapons that impead you from getting better.
if bad why fun to play 🤔🤔
I was 1
The age part hits especially hard for me because I was 14 when the first Splatoon came out, the same age as the inklings are in that game and as such I grew up right alongside them. I've also been playing Splatoon since 2015 and it's so hard to believe 7 years have passed since then. It's insane how much time seems to speed up as you age
2:51 what’s funny is that this map is only a very tiny bit of the splatoon world
I’ve heard it said this map lines up with a part of Japan, right down to how far the Splatlands are from a City. Considering the size of the Japanese Home Islands to the rest of the world, I do look forward to seeing what some other parts of the world look like.
Fun fact: big man’s name in French is raimi. A reference to the name "Rémi" and "raie" is ray in French.
Rayatouille
Disney Rat
Big man under your hat
Big man shaped hat
Actually, the Stringers have a bit more too em too! The Reef-Lux has parts of a milk-yogurt drink (most visible at the nozzle), and the Tri-Stringer is made up of a bunch of fishing rod parts.
I love Splatoon weapon design lol
Anyway, nice video overall!! In particular the editing, especially on the intro & transitions, was great
They look like some kind of crude, guerilla-made weaponry. I like it :)
The Grizz reveal was super fun because even if you assumed he was a bear, he seemed to… not be one anymore. Because come on, how many species of bears do you think can do what he does and move like he does??
Oh wow, that Dedfish and Aging Entry are so touching for me, especially in the last entry that Splatoon 1 to 3’s aging reflects real life.
Same that shit hit me hard it reminds me of the times I'd come home from school and just ignoring homework for a couple hours to just play splatoon
This Video touched my heart.
I love how important music is in Splatoon, it really delivers messages so well.
Rewatched the full first iceberg just yesterday, the timing is impeccable and I'm ready for another banger
This was amazing. I was expecting the last tier to be something scary or something else but not uplifting, thank for the awesome video
You can hear it's MariGolds voice talking to you
Edit: oh wait lol I see you mentioned it in 1:06:58
Around the 45 minute mark, the first ‘anomaly’ is the hole left by the rocket launching into space. You can’t see it until story mode is complete.
i like the splatoon aging. splatoon 1 : you're in your early 10's, all kid and joy and innocent. splatoon 2 : you're around 14-15, being cool is a main aspect of your life, and you have more responsabilities than before (salmon run). splatoon 3 : you're around 16-17, much more mature than before, taller, you still have fun but your interests has also changed. your tastes in clothes are more developped, and you have a unique vue of the world. you've grown up but still find fun is the same things you did at 10.
idk why but i love to imagine this way of evolution for the splatoon series and chara designs :)
Frye is called Angie, because it sounds similar to anguila (eel)
Shiver is called Megan because of the shark species "megalodon"
Big man is rayan because Manta Ray, Manta Rayan
Aint no way!!! The GOAT dropping another BANGER!!! You gotta stop man im gonna be out of a job soon enough!
Honestly tho, really great video man, youre editing skills are really great! They've improved a ton! The iceberg was really interesting and ill be keeping more up to date on your stuff from now on. Rock on ;D (Also cant believe you included some of those terrible outtakes ahahhaahah)
DUUUDE, you have no idea how much I missed you, not just your content, but YOU. Glad to know you're doing good 😊
1:23:53 the fact that I was I also in high school when splat1 came out and now here in 2022 getting closer to graduating college in May of this year shows that a lot has changed over 7 years.
Man, I just watched the Splatoon iceberg yesterday, and now this comes out?! Thanks for giving me more videos to check out, lol
Splatoon 3 iceberg already? That was fast!
18:00 another one being the arospray is based off of air spray brushes, the Iwata brand looks quite Simmilar to the ones In game, funny how it's called Iwata and the late president of Nintendo Iwata.
something important about lil judd and grizzco, is that they have to be connected as lil judd only gains his earpiece after you beat mr grizz
Splatoon 1 came out when I was like nine.
I was a brat.
But I've changed.
Thanks, Spoon.
I subscribed for the first Splatoon Icebergs, stayed for the amazing content, very excited to see this! Keep up the excellent work!
Man this gave me actual chills
The end to this seriously just puts me into perspective of how long it’s been, 7 years is a long time when you’re a young person
Bro, you deserve SO many more views. You put so much effort in your videos like, goddamn!
I've been always waiting for this video
Heck yeah! I’ve been waiting for this since the game came out!

YES! I was waiting for this!
an iceberg video where the thumbnail isn't just iceberg.png and some creepypasta fanart 🥶🔥💯
1:16:41 Honestly, if Hideki was the music producer for Splatoon 3, it would actually make me care about the soundtrack. Been a fan of him since Sonic Rush
Also, that last entry kinda hit. I first discovered Splatoon when I was still in elementary school. Now I’m 19 going on 20 years old in community college and still care about this series. Great vid, man.
the biblical inspirations for splatoon lore… man THAT’s something you dont expect from a kids game
edit: my hc for the captain is that they use sign language. marie speaks for them bc callie didn’t bother to learn it and doesn’t REALLY need to
Man you have no idea how much I love your icebergs lmao, they’re so good and detailed
When you’re talking about wanting to have more chaos clothes and stuff, small frys amiibo gear is revolving around chaos. The gear is literally called chaos helm, chaos commander suit and chaos kicks. That’s literally all the chaos clothes we get unfortunately 😢
45:23 That’s where agent 3 fell through to get to alterna when the ground collapsed after the Octavio battle
In my personal opinion, Splatoon 2 Hero Mode felt like "final splatfest related subplot" while Octo Expansion felt like "The main story"
This is reinforced by Octo Expansion featuring Craig and the current idols, just like how the Splatoon 1 Hero Mode features Craig and the current idols, and Splatoon 3 Alterna features Craig and the current idols.
44:46 I thought that was the hole you make when you get past the Crater and fall into Alterna
Thank God your back
Watching the splatfest part after the
Tri color Pokémon event I am absolutely flabbergasted
44:49 thats where you fall into alterna in the start of the story mode
Have a beautiful Christmas and a safe new year❤ Keep your chin up
Fun fact!! You can change the way captain 3 looks in the crater if you go to Cuttlefish’s tent and look at a photo of the captain! :>
although shiver's name in spanish is megan, it's a pun for "megalodonte" (megalodon shark), same for frye/angie, "anguila" which is eel. same for big man, rayan , which comes from the word "mantaraya"
After ages you finally have done it I’m proud this is an amazing video :)
Tricolor Sturgeon actually favors the 4-team, because of the ability to do sneaky base raids all the way to the 2-teams' spawn! 😁
LOL Dj xD
44:46, that anomaly is assumed to be the spot where you and captain cuttlefish fell in from :)
I'm so glad this iceberg didn't have any of those bs theories about the idols, just straight facts and story mode secrets, very well done.
Except that part where a guest with a bad mic was brought in to lay out a debunked bs theory lol....
@@rivetsquid8887 Reeeeee
@@jg_ultra5133 lmao just saying...
@@rivetsquid8887 what part was it again?
@@rivetsquid8887 Quick question, what debunks it??
Hell yea I waited for this
24:46 TOUHOU HIJACK LOL
1:25:39 I've changed since the first splatoon game. I was 5 now I'm 12. I've gone through 1 depression and still in my second. I've grown up a lot. I've made new friends and done new things. And I to have lost someone. So to answer your question. Yes. I have changed since the first splatoon game.
I’m pretty sure the glitched spot in Alterna is just the place we fell in from
Thank you for shouting out the game Jet Set Radio, it felt great seeing people acknowledge even after 22 years :D
Sunflower will always be my 2nd favorite iceberg “talker”
Right behind wendigoon
As a spanish person, i think i know the reason behind their names Megan, just straight up sounds like Megalodon Angie, not sure what its supposed to represent, i like it though and Rayan, is because we call Manta´s Manta Rayas so ig it comes from Rayas idk man
Angie viene de anguila
Megan is a cute name for her. But Fuuka and Shiver are definitely my preferred.
Crusty Sean is the shoe store owner from splatoon 1 and food vendor in splatoon 2
About "Electric Toothbrush", that song it's from a band called "Toronto".
45:26
That hole in the projectors is the hole Agent 3 fell in from to enter Alterna.
got @'d on twitter with a time stamp of 24:46 cause my touhou post appeared in the video 😭 loool
vid is interesting! stuck around for it, learnt alot
58:38 I love how for frisk they drew two flowers with a face with yellow pedals which in the game undertale is there a flower with a face with yellow pedals and the character you play as is named frisk now idk if this was intentional or not but if it is NICE
1:18:50 oh, that’s where LSmark got his season episodes rank music.
Awesome (giant tornado should be renamed to salmonado)
44:45 I believe this shows up after you beat the story mode and is from the rocket crashing through the ceiling correct me if I’m wrong tho
Wow, didn't expect the video to go deep at the end lol
45:00 that’s the hole you made, when you fall at the beginning of the campaign
IMO, the final splatfest for Splatoon 2 shouldve just been Pearl VS Marina, and the minor chaos elements could be there without the idea of it being truly CHAOTIC.
The Iceberg King returns.
Oof the "tricolor is rigged" didn't age so well with water winning everything
Pretty sure marigolds secret identity in the sunken scrolls are just revealing what breed of goldfish she is, it says nishiyo ORANDA which is a phat lil adorable goldfish with a dorsal fin and it also says RANCHI YU which is a play on ranchu who are also phat adorable fellas ( i actually have 2 they get massive)
Thank you for reminding me that calamari inkantation 3mix exists. I’m not kidding when I say it always gives me chills 😭
This was very deep and I almost cried and the end. Thank you
9:43 Man I didn't know that big man's fight was literally a reference to Super Mario Sunshine
