I used to think as a kid that Masquerade won because Hydranoid was stronger. But really it was because Masquerade played the game smarter. Dan shouldn't have activated his last ability card. With the gate card, Drago was already strong enough to beat Hydranoid. But Dan chose to go with overwhelming power, which allowed Masquerade to respond appropiately by shutting down his gate card. If Dan had kept back his ability card, Masquerade would've used that fusion ability card (either the one we know of or something else) and Dan would've responded with a better ability card that would've counteract it. He made the same mistake Drago tried to warn about in their first fight with Masquerade. And it cost him.
on the contrary in season 1 each player had 3 ability cards to play in a battle.masquerade used one before his hydranoid lost its head,meanwhile dan used 2 before the final brawl.Masquerade was in advantage over him with 2 ability cards(a fusion and another ability card)while dan only had his delta dragonoid ability card.The fight was lost from the start by both Maquerade playing him dirt with joker's wild and quick sand freeze and also by hydranoid being more powerful than drago.Dan took on a challenge he couldnt won either way.If he used same tactics as Masquerade the outcome would have been different.Delta Dragonoid with all of his ability cards active is more powerful than Dual Hydranoid.
Everytime I watched this Battle I always think about how Dan Misplayed. If you think about it. Masquerade never threw down an ability card Until his ace came into play. But when Energy Merge came into play Dan wasted a ability card which Masquerade knew that he would do. So When he set Joker's Wild and threw in Lazerman it's a way to let Dan Know that He wasted a precious resource so he gets penalized for it.
masquerade also misplayed, jokers wild card states that if the darkus bakugan wins unconditionaly, he could have activated it when pyrus dragonoid was on the field and take out dans ace with no contest
But he wanted to make sure that Dan would suffer. Also since Drago was strong it can help it get stronger per battle. Then if you also look at the way the gate cards were set It was made sure that they wouldn't gang up on him.
I personally think that this series is way better than the newly rebooted series version!!Mainly because of the awesome action theme music that is in this whole series!!Plus there are lots of adventures that I just love to see again like in the final episode of Bakugan mechtanium surge!!
I'd love to take this moment to comment on the immaculate composition of this shoe's soundtrack, it has a very heavy basis in hard rock but it blends it with some very fluid synths that definitely date the show but also sound distinctly 2000s anime.

I can relate. Masquerade lost but with grace. I have never seen a show give so much respect to the main antagonist. I guess you could say that in the end the antagonist is destined to lose but the way the writers made it, he lost with prestige, almost as if he didn't lose at all. True. I mean we all heard of the quote "the good guys always win and the bad guys always lose" but that not the chase in Well written franchises like you said. If the good guys wins and the bad guys lose all the time the what's the point. Heck even greater protagonists like superman and captain America loses alot of battles against their antagonists but they always pull through. And the losses that the protagonists gained through the stories can learn and improve so when they win against the antagonists it will be sweeter to see. After all no one is perfect.
Something that i've always thought about is when Destruction Impact nullifies Drago's character card, couldn't Dan have just used his Fusion Ability Card? They show in later episodes he can use Fusion Ability so why not here when Drago is in danger?

Daniel used 2 exclusive Dragonoid cards. the delta attack (which add drago 200G) And the wall burst (which reflects/cancel the bonus opponent ability) He had 3 Bakugan and had to beat another 3. facing an unpredictable rival, who also had an evolved bakugan, think that if dan used 3 exclusive ability cards for drago... griffon and saurus would have been unprotected. In addition, the fusion power can only be used in combination with another exclusive character ability card. So if drago is beated fast, you have 2 ability that u cant use for the rest of the team masquerade used a strategy based on 3 ability cards to dual hydranoid. But he used 3 gate cards to finish secondary fights fast, like the one he used with griffon and saurus. that why in the fight with Drago he generated numerical advantage of cards. Dan gate cards wasnt so destructive like masquerade cards because dan and his mayority numbers of gate cards are pyrus boost. Dan knowing that masquerade would try to cancel his cards or debilitate drago, prefered to include the wall burst to reflect that strategy instead of the fusion card

He only took down Alice, i agree that it was plot armor, but even with that there's no way in hell shadow would have defeated masquerade (no disrespect to Alice)

Hydranoid is a powerful Bakugan but the battler is what's most important, Shadow Prove is even more of a goof than Dan so Masq solos
If Dual Hydranoid didn't have the built in ability to allow its user to end the battle in a draw by sacrificing an ability card and paying 300 hsp, Dan would have won. Speaking of the ability card sacrifice... Masquarade used 3 abilities anyway, which wouldn't be possible unless he sacrificed the Dual Gazer he used already. However, the wiki does not state that the ability card being sacrificed had to be unused. The question is this: is that cheating or galaxy brain loophole abuse ?
Best guess: That card did not count as an Ability Card according to the game's established rules, much like how the Doom Card doesn't, because it didn't increase the strength of the Bakugan, it didn't affect the battle in any way and the HSP of the Bakugan being restored went down. It was probably a card that acted like a doctor (excuse the metaphor, because I can't think of anything better) to solely heal the Bakugan rather than improve the game past Hydranoid's innate abilities.

I mean, it gave Masquarade the same amount of hsp that he lost when Hydranoid's head regenerated. He only took down Alice, i agree that it was plot armor, but even with that there's no way in hell shadow would have defeated masquerade (no disrespect to Alice)
@@arturoandrereyarteaga4504 since spectra battles like dan team brute force, masqurade being the exact opposite of anxious alice, and in general a smarter battler than dan means better than spectra as well. Hydranoid is a powerful Bakugan but the battler is what's most important, Shadow Prove is even more of a goof than Dan so Masq solos
If Dual Hydranoid didn't have the built in ability to allow its user to end the battle in a draw by sacrificing an ability card and paying 300 hsp, Dan would have won. Speaking of the ability card sacrifice... Masquarade used 3 abilities anyway, which wouldn't be possible unless he sacrificed the Dual Gazer he used already. However, the wiki does not state that the ability card being sacrificed had to be unused. The question is this: is that cheating or galaxy brain loophole abuse ?
Probably idk sacraficed a gate card and won afterwards with dan being unable to battle due to a lack of bakugan
Best guess: That card did not count as an Ability Card according to the game's established rules, much like how the Doom Card doesn't, because it didn't increase the strength of the Bakugan, it didn't affect the battle in any way and the HSP of the Bakugan being restored went down. It was probably a card that acted like a doctor (excuse the metaphor, because I can't think of anything better) to solely heal the Bakugan rather than improve the game past Hydranoid's innate abilities.
Well, you know? Drago after evolution has 450 g, and was 340. The hydranoid had 450, and became 480. It's kind of unfair here. So, you can forgive how he sacrificed the card to restore the hydra's head)

@@spacebar9653 On another video of this battle I'm thinking a possible gate card that could have been sacrificed is joker's wild. I mean, it gave Masquarade the same amount of hsp that he lost when Hydranoid's head regenerated. It's hard to tell if what card it is due to us only seeing the backing, but that's at least a good possibility, yes?

For example in the justice leagues two parter the savage times, immortal supervillain vandal savage sent back future weapon plans with a computer while his past self decided to lead the nazis to victory in world war 2.
