We're showing you how to set it up with the Mi Home app from Play Store and how to connect your WiFi enabled PC or laptop to it while extending your home WiFi network.

Hi I need help mine doesn’t find device so I have to do it manually but when I do that it still doesn’t connect
Try repeating the proces, if it doesn't work there might have been some changes in the setup compared to the one we had. We had no issues connecting the device doing exactly what was shown in the video. The device automatically connected from first try, and that was recorded here.

Hello people! It came to my attention some of you have issues with signing in to the Mi Home app. There are several different options to do so, but I purposely left all of them except the Mi Account one.
This is the best way to do it as you won't give out any of your personal stuff like phone number or so, you'll need only your email address to create one, and you can do it following the link:
global.account.xiaomi.com/pass/register
Once you created your Mi account you can sign in to Mi home app using the details you selected for yourself(email and password).
I may may do a follow up on this in a video.

This is wifi extender in its simplest form, but on the packaging it said repeater aswell.

I am used it still 1 yrs. It's an amazing product. After the firmware update little bugs are gone. Right now no issue with this one. You can buy it.
I think they have updated the App. I cannot see the repeater if I use Chinese Mainland. But when I change it to my true location, it worked!

Hello, i have a problem. The app can't sense the device after i switched it to chinese mainland.
If i switch to Philippines server (which is my country) it can easily be detected. But when switch to chinese mainland it can't detect the device. When i use philippines server it says connection timed out or it says my wifi is too far from the device but it is just beside it. What should i do? Pls help me

Yes, you can change the SSID - you can put whatever you desire .
Hello. Thank you for video. One question please. Is there is a way to configure it maybe through the Xiaomi Home app when I am connected to the xiaomi extender and move inside to my home to the other room to automatically change the connection of WiFi from the my Asus router to the Xiaomi 300 Pro automatically as always to get the best signal possible ?? Sadly that depends on the device you want to connect to, some have that option, some don't.
I'm usually connected to the extender.
It didn't work. First u recommended select mainland China. I selected it. Then it can t configure. Asking me to use current location which is malaysia. After resetting it back. Then redo the process still can't connect to the extender.

I would use it in my first floor during the morning, but I need to move it to the second floor during my night.
yes, once its set up you can move it around. It just needs to be plugged in to the power outlet.
Hi, just wanna clarify if the password you input during setup is the same with the wifi password itself?
Yes the same password you have for your home router. This item serves just as an extender so it uses existing network stuff. Its not a standalone router which has its own passwords and stuff.
@@ZENBOXTech Thanks! So the router password is the same with the wifi password? I thought the router password is some kind of numbers on the small paper attached to the routers while the wifi password is another thing.
@@ZENBOXTech so let's say to access the wifi I need to input abcde to my phone, it is the same password for the extender set up right?
@@MaoMeow11111 You should have a small sticker on the bottom of your router, there should be 2 things: SSID( basically the name of the router) and the Password... That password is what you use to connect the extender to it and your phone to extender

What distance can this mi extender go from Router?
My repeater doesnt have a yellow light. Mine is orange and doesnt change even after reset. I just opened mine 30 mins ago. I set mainland china as region and allow location settings. I dont know whats wrong with light.
I have already that router,its already working i use more than 1 yr now its not work just i change place then the ligth is not coming blue still yellow what should i do pls help me thank you
Why always connecting to network always timed out?
That might be the issue in connection between the extender and the router. Try resetting both to factory settings and reinstall the app. That solves most issues.

I'm very pleased with it.It's been almost a year since I bought it and set it up. So far I had no issues with it. I managed to connect it in first try and that one was recorded and shown in this video. Signal is strong - I'm having almost the exact speed ( 20mbit is my maximum speed and trough this it pulls around 18 mbits) on WiFi as I do connected trough a cable. I'm not sure about the maximum distance it can cover but mine is around 10-15 meters, haven't measured it to be honest, just an estimation, from the router and 2 walls away.I have full signal both on my laptop and my smartphone. I'm not saying this is the best device out there but for the money it does what it needs to do. I've recommended it to a bunch of people I know in real life as well as online and it works okay. Some have managed to get it to work in first try some had some problems but after finally setting it up it just works.Only thing that might be a different version of the app used. I've not tried the new one with mine. I literally deleted the app when this was set up and it's been running no problem since.

The network on 3:30 is it the repeater or not?
No, its was my home network. The repeater was left with a same name with the _plus sufix (networkname_plus)
After configure the repeater on the phone can i uninstall the application after the configuration on mobile phone?

This extends and in same boosts your connection. The same connection can be used for your PC, laptop, or phone. As long as its connected to your router it will use the home wifi.

Is this can be used ? Coz our wifi onboard you need to register everyday to connect on the wifi coz cant reach in my room

Its exactly what this device is meant for. To extend your wifi network and make the wifi more stable in the remote parts of the house
Mine cannot connect to network so it didn't register to my MI home app. But the repeater extended the network. It works well but my issue is I cannot change the ssid nor the password because it didn't register on my Mihome app
I dont think you can change the password for it, to be honest I'm pretty sure you can't as it uses the same password as your master router.
If your region is phillipines will you pick the region China? I don't understand if you're region is phillipines you will pick phillipines not China?
China was before, because it wasn't available anywhere else, try your region now.
do you have to repeat the process of setting up each time you turn on the repeater or it will just automatically connect ?
Nope, once set up it will be like that till you decide to get it back to factory settings.
So no setting up each time :)

How far the distance it can connect on Main Wifi??
50meters is a bit much. Mine works with about 15m distance

@@rjrsumatra i've not tested it that far. Mine was originally around 15meters from the router worked okay, not great but okay. Now its around 5 meters away and this seems to be best. Thing is this isn't a sort of device that will give you a full coverage if you have a huge house, or your backyard or something like that. This is enough to give enough signal strenght in lets say a medium sized 3 bedroom apartment.

You can use it. Just connect it to your router. You have to have an active Internet connection to be able to use it. This is just an extender not a stand alone router.

It shows me internet connection problems and can't connect device with app.. i ve tried it 4 times. What can I do?
Only thing I can recommend. Try reseting it to factory settings then try again.
I extended it successfully but all devices cannot connect to the new wifi extender. Any help how to reset the device?
there should be an option within the app, if that were not the case the device should have a tiny button somewhere on it in order to reset it. I cant check now as I'm not close to it.
Hi! I can't connect my laptop to the wifi repeater. Well, technically it is already connected but it says no internet connection. When I diagnosed the problem, it says the "'Wi-Fi' doesn't have a valid IP configuration"

I actually followed this set up process, but it wasn't completed like in the video but the repeater was just set up.. I don't know what's wrong. It's working on my phone, but not for my laptop.
@@rhonastaana4032 Try to reset the repeater to the factory settings, and follow the steps. If the problem persists it might be a problem with your laptop, since your phone does connect to it.I recorded this in one try doing the steps just like in the video. Still had no problems with it so diagnosing without a problem is kind of hard :D
@ZENBOX I tried to search for some steps in the internet, and one told me to change some settings through the command prompt, and I think it worked. Now my laptop can already connect.
Now, my other concern is that when I was setting up the repeater, I wasn't able to complete the whole process but the repeater just showed up as a network with the same name to the original network +_plus on its name. Now, the repeater is working but it doesn't appear to be connected on my Mi Home app that's why I don't have any controls on it. 🤦
@@rhonastaana4032 theres not much control over it via app anyways. App is just used to set it up and get it going.

It should use the same password your router has, that's the only way to connect to it, as it doesn't have its own.
Well, the entire process should be done on the phone, only the initial plugging in to the power outlet is something done without it.
I cannot get it to work because it dies not recognize the router.

I heard alot of people have that issue with first or even 2nd time detecting it...I was lucky enough to get it in first try. Thing is that it really depends on the batch you get it from, sometimes it needs a few tries...Have you tried Philippines instead? Maybe it'll work?

Tha main problem i even use my sister/brother phone but still connection time out and fail to connect to wifi extended.

If you need authentication, isn't the password the way to authenticate?

Hey there. My device scan keeps failing at "Failed to obtain authentication information" even though I know I typed the correct password. Could you help a bit?
Only thing I can recommend you is to reset it to factory settings and reinstall the app and keep trying. Some people have issues trying to connect it for the first time.But once connected its rock solid.
Is there a possible that we can change the ip address of repeater pro or not? I just need to make it to static ip

The app is just used for set up. I still have the app on the phone but haven't used it in months. I didnt even update it in the longest time.

Thank you but I was suprised that setting up requires an email and activating the location for the device. What is the relation of these to networking? China really wants to know a lot of things about other people. pisses me off

I'm not sure how it's connected to the Internet and you cannot connect to it...I would do the following - try to reinstall the app, and return the extender to the factory settings. And to the entire process slowly from scratch.
I'm using wifi dongle on my desktop and It's about 10 meters away from my modem. Do you think it will work on desktop? Please let me know.
It will work, you connect to it same way as you do to your router.
Can I place this wifi repeater about 40-50 meters away from the router?
Nope, max I would put it away from the router would be 8-10 meters. But even that may be much, this is a consumer not commercial kind of a device.

I'm sorry I just saw your comment - somehow it got lost in the notifications. Yes, it's good, I'm using it since I made this video, and since the original setup I've not touched it. I even deleted the app after the initial setup as once that's done if you won't mess around with it in depth you don't really need it.

Not connecting with the router. Tried multiple times.. Device is close to the router as well.
Maybe a faulty device. Or some setting isnt properly done in the router.
What if you turn off the extender and your main wifi and you turn it ON again. Will it connect automatically? Or you have to connect it again using the app? Cause that would be such an hassle.
It depends really, some devices like phones autodetect stronger signals and connect to those. Some laptops require manual switching beforehand. In my case i just switch manually - literally 2 seconds for that.
You don't need to scan the QR Code? I'm unable to do that, and unable to use it.
Does it work with Free wifi ? Like, I have a free WiFi in our building with no password... Will it work on that ? Please advise
Yes it will, if the wifi is open and not password protected it should work no worries, you'll skip the password step in the setup.

I understand your problem. The only thing you can do is to try and start from scratch. Reset it to factory settings and reinstall the app. If that doesnt work, contact the seller, you might have gotten a defective unit. It happens sometimes.

Well that was suggested in the video :) I've done it myself during the setup process as when my country was chosen I couldn't see anything. But when China was chosen all sorts of stuff showed

It seems you'll have to go step by step again till it works. Some people have problems connecting for the first time. I've not tried it since i made the video. Maybe the app is somewhat different. But I'd recommend you to get it to factory settings and reinstall the app till ti works. I've connected mine first try and it worked flawlessly since.
How do i fix and prevent from the app saying the the device is offline? I do reset it and it fixes it, but i keep needing to do that when i need to change something
I have not had that issue before. To be honest i set it up once and never changed a thing. The only time i set it was the one in the video.

Well i have max theoretical speed of 20mbits, on this i have around 15-17 depending on how busy the network is. So yeah, close enough.
What do you do if the app keep crashing on your phone? Also when you create an account. Should be on ur country or China?
Try to reinstall the app. Thats about the only thing you can do. Mi account can be your country, but during the setup when you choose the country you should choose China.
Can you unplug the device then plug it in another socket will ito automatically connect again to the wifi & function as a repeater?
Yep, once configured it doesnt mattet what socket its in

It's a device used to extend your existing wifi network. For example if your router is located far from one of the rooms in the house or an apartment this can be plugged in to the power outlet and configured to extend the wifi network. It connects directly to the router in order to do so.

I've seen this happen. The only real fix is trying again. From the top, meaning reinstall the app, get the extender to factory settings and try again. Sometimes it doesn't go first try.

Is "mi home" and "xiaomi home" the same in play store? Yours is mi home only, i cant find mi home in playstore

Maybe they changed the name of the app. I deleted the app the day I set this up. Never had any problems.
Only got as far as the log in. Then asks for phone number, then verification ? Where can get verification ? Tried entering email address and askes for password. What password ? Password to my router ? Password to my Yahoo account ? Not at all clear !
You don't use your phone number at all...Nor any other option other than Mi Account. I've purposly left out any other sign in options because you'll need the Mi Account for the app anyways. You have to create the Mi account here:

Once you have the Mi Account you use the email you registered with and the password you selected for yourself to sign in to Mi Home App.
After that you follow the rest of the tutorial as it goes in the video.
The requirements and what you need to sign in to the app is mentioned from 1:39 and on.
Logical assumption when Mi Account is mentioned in the video, and you do not already have one is to go and create it.
I'll add that to the video's description so it doesn't confuse people.

None anymore, I uninstalled it same day iI set my extender up. I used it only for the purpose of this video.

yes you can, only thing you need is for your pc to have available wifi card
May I ask what a wifi card is? Do you have to buy that or does the computer already have that..?
@@lightcyanblue wifi card is a device used to connect your pc to a wifi network. Most desktop PCs come without it so you might have to buy it.

It means you are not close enough u have to be a few inches away from what I've experienced. I had the same problem

if u have a password on it and you should for a domestic use thats enough. It doesnt have any security features besides that

No its not, the phone is required only to set it up.
SHOULD WIFI REPEATER IS NEAR TO THE WIFI ROUTER?
It doesn't need to be very close. That defeats the purpose of extending the wifi. Place it in a suitable spot around half of the distance between the place and the router.
