Or she's a vegetarian and people who are vegetarians literally can get sick off of eating meat? Literally, the enzymes required to digest it properly have more than likely decreased so it would make her sick to eat it. Plus, her boyfriend should have been smarter and made sure to tell his family that she's a vegetarian. I doubt she was trying to purposefully offend anyone, but we don't know why she's a vegetarian. Regardless, her boyfriend should have had some respect for her, too.

Her boyfriend (as demonstrated by the text) does not respect her food choices enough to have told his parents what they would need to know to accommodate her. He must perceive her vegetarianism as a joke and it's incredibly insulting. I wouldn't break up with him over this, but I would certainly have words with him and make clear how disrespectful and hurtful it was.

Some of these women make things so complicated. If the man you are dating does not tell his family that you don't eat meat, then that is disrespectful to your taste and it makes a bad impression on his family. If he doesn't care enough to tell his family, then leave him.

Her answer to her question was in the text her boyfriend sent her. It would tell me to leave that relationship. He doesn't respect her choice and so therefore his family isn't going to respect her choice because he's not going to saying anything to them. I wouldn't want to deal with it. Eventually they'll end up breaking up anyway so why prolong it. Move on to someone who will respect your wishes.

I have been a missionary and been invited to dinner at some very poor people's homes. You don't ever turn down something someone has worked to offer you!
Although instead of drinking from a shared water bowl, we bought everyone a soda "to thank them for their hospitality"

There's a idiom in Chinese it's 如鄉隨俗 (rù xīang súi sú) literally means 'if you enter their village you need to follow their rules or eat and do anything they did.' Even if you're vegetarian or allergic to something.

I agree with everything you said. Personally I don't eat meat because I just don't like the taste of most meats (the only exceptions are chicken, turkey, and bacon or if I'm REALLY craving some red meat I will eat it, but for me to eat red meat is rare). And honestly, I don't want to be forced to eat meat. I know myself. If I've never tasted it before, am forced to eat it, and I don't like it, I won't eat the rest of it. If anything, I will throw it away when no one is looking, which to me, and a lot of other people, is a waste of food. So which would you rather: A. me not eat it and someone else can eat what I don't or B. me not eat it anyway and I throw it away where it's wasted? Most NORMAL people would say option A.

I'm a vegetarian and this has happened to me all the time but I come from a black family so I usually just put everything on my plate and cut it up and make it look like I ate some. Then when no one is looking, my boyfriend devours it or I give it to my dog. I'm also Hispanic so I just don't go over their house for the holidays. My boyfriend is so I take everything and go sit in another room and "eat," because Hispanics are always eating all over the house--the front yard, the backyard, inside the house with thr kids, the roof, etc.--so I don't really have to be seen eating.

I grew up in India, my whole community has been vegetarian since the beginning.
It's within our culture. So I think its very disrespectful.
