4:54 if you want to jump straight into it. I wanted to preface a few things before diving in, especially for those who are not too familiar with this system!
Girl, TRUTH. We didn’t choose the spooky life, the spooky life chose us with all these Nickelodeon and other TV shows. We read Goosebumps, watched Are You Afraid of the Dark…x-Files…. Tales from the Crypt…. Scream…Charmed…The Craft…Queen of the damned….Blade…We were doomed to love Halloween 🖤🧡💜
This is the best journaling video I’ve seen in a long time. I watched it before but lost it and I’m so glad it randomly showed up in my feed again. Perfect for 2025 pre-planning.
I’ve never felt more seen!! I’m 36, and I love all things spooky! Also, this is a great idea! My OCD always prevents me from traditional journaling. I get caught up with filling pages, my writing style-just the pressure I place on myself to make it look like Amelia’s Notebook or something. I need something stress free and fun 🍒
This really was such a nostalgic video! I LOVED all the spooky we had in the 90s. You hit me in the straight feels with So Weird and Are You Afraid of the Dark! I loved this concept for journaling so much. Thanks for the inspiration!
omg! I’m so happy to know someone else liked that movie! I had a huge crush on the guy 🤣 I don’t remember his name but he was about to turn into the boogeyman.
this is awesome! I absolutely love this idea. been getting into common place recently but this form of archiving sounds so fun! what a perfect way to reflect on all of my special interests.
Thank you for sharing! I love the concept of re-using a calendar as an index - how clever! Like 90% of bullet journaling eliminated by using a calendar! As a 90’s kid myself, I can also affirm it was the era of “spooky”. Now I think spooky is a lifestyle which I totally live 😂 Lastly, what is your favorite printer to use? Inkjet vs. laser vs. zinc etc.? Would love to know how you get your photos to look so crisp! Special paper or is the printer quality really important?
Spooky will forever be the vibe! Especially if it's campy and not too scary 😆 I actually have both inkjet and a laser printer for design proofing! I printed most of these out on my laser jet (Canon), but I will say that some brighter colors do not show up well, so I resort to my inket printer (Epson EcoTank) for pastel/bright color prints. Laser all the way if you specifically love black or darker images!
Loving that you’re journaling about things that make you happy!!! Having kids is a chaotic life for sure….but if your life isn’t chaotic like that, observing and expressing the things that spark you joy is beautiful and brings a lot of richness into your daily life. It’s healing, it’s a break from other daily life grinds…I love that you are indulging…the true luxuries of life 💗💟
Thank you for the the great idea(s) for using your Hobonichi. I love the idea of journaling/memory keeping/etc., but have struggled finding any momentum. Also, I'm in my 50's, my adult children have their own lives, but no grandkids yet, so my life can feel somewhat "boring". I'm trying to find a format that is not only fun for me, but is more than just a retelling of my daily tasks. This really gets me thinking about ideas that are more "outside the box"!
Wish Upon A Star was my FAVORITE Disney channel original movie! Hardly anyone remembers it and it breaks my heart because the outfits truly WERE iconic 😭 Alexia's silvery lipstick!?? I loved her makeup so muchhh
I was shocked when I realized it was a Disney channel original movie lol But I guess that's why it wasn't very well known? I feel crazy when other 90s kids have never even heard of this movie!
I actually really, really needed this. I use the A6, not the Cousin... but my style of journaling tends to be non-dated and more common-placey (lol). Using the calendar as the index is genius!
I love how you use your hobonichi cousin ❤ such a fab idea! I have a journal prompt journal and use the prompts to answer in my journal but this is good how you use the monthly section as a contents page. I am a 90s baby and love everything 90s! And i am a girly girl but also love spooky things and lovvveeee halloween alot! I get excited more than my kids to go trick n treat 😂 all the vibesss ❤❤
I love how full this is 😮 im still looking for ideas for my journals to do a jump back into it and this was definitely super helpful. Hope we stay connected
awesome! this is what i had in mind for my hobonich cousin next year, but i think the day free will be ideal since i will not be journaling in exact dates :)
I like this A LOT! May I ask, what plastic cover are you using? I have the Midori's one (the regular, not the codex) and it's a bit tight 😅. I definitely can't put a paper inside to cover the cover (lol) with a nice pattern, or just a black cardstock...
oh the black is because it’s a hobonichi hon! not a regular cousin. But I got the cover from etsy! It actually doesn’t fit perfectly since it’s supposed to be for the regular cousin, so it’s actually a bit too big.
I have a Canon Imageclass laserjet printer so it doesn't really use much ink! I bought my printer back in 2022 and it came with a beginner pack of ink and tbh it has still not run out lol
you say "archiving" but essentially this is a media log. this is mostly how i use my Hobonichi too. journal + media log so i know what my year was like
i wanted to do this but my mom wouldnt even let me get a hobonochi and she made me go to 5 below to pick out a notebook and im just so mad because its not the same but like good for you to use a good journal like this wish you wouldnt rub it in my face
@@johnnyminer9386 Look on ebay! Some people sell their barely used ones or even new ones for half the price! Also you shouldn’t need to feel like you have to get an expensive notebook. I’m guessing you’re young. I’m in my 30s lol but when I was younger I never would buy a notebook over $5 and I didn’t start doing this until I was in my 30s. So don’t let it discourage you. I grew up homeless lmao so don’t compare yourself to what you see online. Any notebook works for something like this!

Spooky content is coming 👻 and I definitely need less pressure on journaling or I’ll never use up the notebooks 🤣
This is how I’ve been using my hobonichi too. Like a combo of commonplace and journal.

You had me subbed at 90s kid man we had some great shows and movies back then. One of my favorites is Don’t look under the Bed 😊

What a great way to use a planner type book! I'll try my hand in creating something like this. Thanks for sharing!

I use my hobonichi cousin like this. It’s mostly about things I love and answer to prompts. I have two other journals to put my things in.
I also have songs that make me feel a certain way and I write how they make me feel. That’s crazy you do that too!!!
The 90's were the last best generation for sure. Im 110% a 90's girl. I only read and watch horror. Im a total fan.
thank you for the inspo
