In daily life, we think of refrigerators as being very heavy machines that are difficult to move. Yet - since they have to be airtight, and they contain a lot of air inside them - they will float on the surface of water. That's why there's a bizarre shot of a floating refrigerator at 1:47 being flipped over repeatedly by the strong wind, floating on the storm surge. And this is why refrigerators can end up far away from where they originally were, after a strong hurricane.

For Those Who Think It's A Cat 4 So The NOAA Upgraded Hurricane Ian Into A Category 5 Hurricane So The Max Recorded Winds Were 155 Mph The Biggest Diffrence Is That The Noaa Give The Winds 160 mph or 260 Killiometers Whats Confusing Is That In The Noaa Historical Hurricane Tracks Office Center If You Search Ian In Storms It Says That The Caterogy Was 5 But The Max Winds Were 155 So This Proves That Hurricane Ian Had Confusing Winds So I Don't Know What To Say So Bye

Other than some business which use landlines to connect their credit card machines to banking networks. No one uses a phone anymore that requires a wire to the home. The telephone manholes are now used only for fiber optic cables which are only 1 inch in diameter. All the cables in the telephone vaults are pressurized and waterproof. Fiber optic cables use only 3% of the space in the telephone cable vault's conduits.

As a direct victim of hurricane Ida last year, I certainly feel for the people in west FL right now. We didn't get the water level like Ian. I hate to say it, but the devastating storms are getting more frequent in the Gulf. With the rise in sea level and global warming together, respect for these storms need to increase along with the threat.

*Paragraph 3 of 5.* *Build and anchor these floating cities for the homeless ON LAND that has already been flooded and will be flooded in the future.* *The company believes a floating city project would address both dire housing shortages and threats from rising sea levels.* The structures themselves would be designed to withstand all sorts of natural disasters, including floods, tsunamis, and Category 5 hurricanes. Silicon Valley's largest city wants to house the homeless in floating apartments. The concept, known as _Oceanix City,_ was designed by renowned architect Bjarke Ingels in collaboration with Oceanix. Here's what the city might look like if it comes to life. The city would essentially be a collection of hexagonal platforms that can each hold around 300 residents. Hexagons are widely considered one of the most efficient architectural shapes. By designing each platform as a hexagon, the builders hope to minimize their use of materials. The designers consider a group of six platforms to be a "village." The entire city would contain six villages, for a total of around 10,000 residents. Ingels said 10,000 is the ideal number of residents, since it would allow the island to achieve "full autonomy" by producing its own power, fresh water, and heat. But he told Business Insider that designing an entire city gives him room to expand his vision. "At the city scale you can achieve more," Ingels said. X3
