Very interesting, especially about the monks. Pity some of the stones have fallen into disrepair but glad you managed to avoid any ghosts! Another great video.

I’m glad that you enjoyed it. Yeah, it’s a location that is often overlooked, but filled with history. Yeah, I certainly didn’t want to bump into anything supernatural, and I didn’t want to ring it home.

The Southern Necropolis looks really creepy. Those kids were braver than me for going in there at night.

Yeah, I wouldn't have gone in there after dark. There is definitely an atmosphere about the place. I think that adds to why the Southern Necropolis is so interesting.

I remember that - I lived in Caledonia road corner of Crown street. My great Grandparents and gggranparents on my grandmother's side are buried there.

It is a really interesting place, especially when you have a family connection to it. I hope that I brought back some happy memories.

@@AScottishOdyssey I used to play in there now and again although it was nearer Oatlands than Crown street. Back then i didn't know my rellies were buries there and I only discovered my gggrandparents were buried there earlier this year. Wish I could find the records and i may need a visit as this fact may have come from a gravestone as it was pre. 1855. I lived nearer the Greek Thomson church which I passed every day when going to and from school. Lots of good pics of the church on Facebook including one with the new housing.

It's always lovely to hear when someone has such a connection to a site. Unfortunately, the Greek Thompson church is nothing more than a shell now. Thompson's grave is in the Necropolis as well. I only found it earlier this year, when I revisited.

@@AScottishOdyssey - I got my grandson to go back to Troon via the Gorbals after we dropped my other grandson off at B'oness this morning where he is a volunteer. I had limited time so just got a few pics of where i Used to live with the church in the background. We passed the Necropolis after this but will visit soon as the B'oness trips take place every Sunday. 🙂

It would be worth it. When you do visit, keep an eye out for the mural on the bridge near the mosque.

This looks like a really interesting place to visit. It does look creepy, but I don't know if that's because of the story of the Gorbals Vampire. It still looks like somewhere I would love to visit.
