How NOT to put in test balls

This video shows me installing test balls for my first time. I tightened them all way too much. It says to only make them HAND tight. This will make the pipe explode when you inflate the test balls.

Won't work anyway because it looks like you have a threaded fitting, a stub of pipe and then a tee. These test balls are meant to be placed directly into a threaded test tee.

so i have a 2" test plug that i'm pumping to 45 psi but the water still slowly leaks thru around the plug itself. are the rest of u having the same problem and if so, what psi did u increase it to in order to prevent this?

lol common sense is not one of your strong suits, is it? If you just take a second and think about what the purpose of the test ball is and how it functions, you should realize why you don't need to dope them or crank them down tight. Water will never reach the connection once the ball is inflated. It's just a temporary test ball. In your case, the test ball would basically just act as a cap as the ball is not going to reach the tee where it needs to be to block the water. They're designed to be threaded into a test tee. The mess you have going there looks to just be a cleanout where the test ball would achieve absolutely nothing as it wouldn't reach the tee. I'm sure you've figured this out by now since this video is 5 years old but man, I'd take this video down out of sheer embarrassment if it were me.
