This was a big step up for me as we in the PAL region were stuck on 50hz haha. The jump to 1080p/60fps was so satisfying and I feel is the best way to play these games.
just to let you know: r&c 2 and 3 did have dev commentary and concept art in the secret insomniac museum

Jak and daxter trilogy are not remastered on PS4....just ports from PS2....they were remastered only for PS3 native 1080p 60fps

I had them all on the PS2 when I was little, but now, I only have the third one (How I lost them is a mystery).

Ugh, the floating helmet on Ratchets head takes me out of the second and third games story. I just can’t not notice it. It’s why I recommend the ps2 versions more. Along with a few audio glitches in the hd collection

@@Grimnoire These *are* the graphics of a PS2 game just with a HD filter slapped on and stretched out, so made worse. Besides a lot of PS2 games do a lot with limited hardware.
I dunno I find it a bit funny
It's pretty sad that Ratchet & Clank has taken back seat too now. On PS4 there's only that remake game which was bit lame. Really hoping that Insomniac games would get back into Ratchet & Clank with fresh story and planets, weapons etc. And if possible get David Bergeaud back to do soundtrack, because Ratchet & Clank isn't same without his music.

Dude, those were my favorite games on the PS2.
you were doing so well until you mentioned that the reimaginign was "tremendous." That's a solid hell no, it's a garbage excuse of ruining the original story to tailor to the story of their failure of a movie
korrok why? It was visually amazing (shocker, next gen graphics will do that) but they destroyed the story and made ratchet look like a total loser. Too kid friendly and not the stubborn, selfish ratchet from the first game that we watched mature and develop. Crash and Spyro are examples of the remaster we want for ratchet and clank, not the garbage we got in 2016.
No way you can 100% all 3 games in 30 hours unless you're a speed runner or beat the games many times already.
I have recently watched the developer commentary of RC2 and 3 and they were firstly streaming the ps2 version. Man, this remastered sucks.
There are so many visual and sound effect that have been cut.
Plus, there are a lot of new visual bugs, i really don't understand why they didn't realesed rhe remastered how it should be.
Maybe it wasn't impossible to fix some bugs or to not cut some visual effects without getting the game crashed, but man if it is annoyng. Some times it feels playing another game, we all know that details matters even if sometimes you don't even notice them
Getting a refund for an amazon return in a few days and was wondering if should pick this up. Based on your review, I think it’s a safe bet that I’ll buy it.

Ratchet and Clank is my childhood. My favorite video games ever. These Ps3 remasters are great. Hopefully they come for Ps4 or Ps5 as well. That would be nice.

Imo the remasters look better, but play worse than originals, hell I got a glitch on Ratchet 2 remastered that prevented me from completing the game and messed up my weapons all because I went to insomniac museum

Hell yeah my dude, I’ve played the crap out of these games ever since I was a kid, and I still do now once in a while. My favorite game out of this whole collection is Going Commando by the way.
I own all the Ratchet and Clank PS2 games and the PS3 HD versions and I hold absolutely no regret because I love these games to death!
Do you recommend the remastered version for PS3? Or is better to keep the ones for PS2? 😸
@@assilemorum8700 if you already have the ps2 versions, there's really no point unless you want them in a better resolution and you want trophies
The glitches are barely noticeable and dont really affect anything so it's a good remaster
I grew up with the PlayStation and PS2, and Ratchet and Clank was one of my favourite games on the latte, particularly the second game. As great as they were then, I honestly believe that the experience is even better on the PS3, and that it's worth every penny. I've never noticed any technical problems when playing the PS3 remaster. Even the Vita port was worth playing, in my own humble opinion. Though not as great as the PS3 port in terms of technical performance, it's still a great means of nostalgic entertainment when you're gaming on the go
Fun fact: these games are also available to play on PS4 and PS5 with PlayStation Now.
Why is there no trilogy for ps4?

Out of the three, I only have Tools of Destruction, and it's amazing. I definitely want to review the PS3 series as well, just don't have all the games yet...
Your use of cutscenes from the games to create a dialogue with yourself was absolutely brilliant!
I went an ordered a PS3 with the ratchet and clank collection to experience my childhood again. Looking forward to playing the PS3 titles afterwards as I only experienced the PS2 titles back in the day

Would had probably been a "quadrilogy" rather than a "tetralogy".
As someone with a Greek name, how could you suggest such a thing? Quadrilogy is not a real word anyway.
It's worth mentioning that the Vita version is buggier but fine overall. Most annoying was that Ratchet & Clank 2 crashed every time I got to a Giant Clank section, but I found a workaround in saving the game beforehand
Great games, I bought the collection on sale during the summer on the PSN for around $6
Man this game was my childhood ! I used to play the third one all day everyday.
Even though the servers are shut down it still supports Co-op play so that's a good enough for me

The thing that bothered me was the Going Command's missing subtitles, like didn't Idolmind not consider patching them in later?
Yeah I forget if they removed them or it's a go to the options to change them in game not main menu (like some games do and you miss the subtitles for the first Cutscene in some PS2 or even PS3 games).
Or its a new game+ thing. As stupid as that is.
I need to check the PS2 version more as used to the PS3/Vita versions and always got confused what they did with the subtitles on PS3 version. Maybe they intended on updating them but didn't? Or menu access or something. I don't know.
I forget if Vita port was the same with subtitles or not and a port of the collection or PS2 ones again as a base as it has it's own bugs.
@@suntannedduck2388 I heard there was issues with the upscaling of the subtitles, with the PS Vita version having them in specific regions. Still I would of thought they would get patched in later.
As for glitches you forgot to mention ratchets gigantic oversized helmet in cutscenes and the green lizard guy in the gadgetron store window floating in black space with his bottom half missing.
Devs interviews, epilogue and more are in all 3 games. 2&3 museums in levels Boldan or Metropolis or PS2/3 clock setting. In Goodies in RAC1 challenge mode. Or RAC2&3 Special menu. Always the last option. XD There is also the helmet and the yes Gadgetron or weapon menu with ratchet using them animations box are too small.
PS+/Now access. Only in certain regions. Otherwise PS2/3/Vita versions digital or cheap physical if possible.
Cheats for the originals still work. The Weapon discounts still work with a save/check option.
Multiplayer servers are down but local split screen works.

I only got to play the original R&C on PS2. I bought a 360 instead of a PS3. Now that I have a PS3, I'm looking forward to playing all of R&C games that I missed out on

I imagine Deadlocked/Gladiator isn't in there because it was a massive departure from the established format and, in my opinion, a massive drop in quality compared to the first 3.

2:48 Actually there is a GOOD REASON WHY IT WAS FORGOTTEN. There was a Deadlocked port on PS3, but.... It was A DUMPSTERFIRE. It's one of the worst PS2 to ps3 ports. 6:02, as someone who played Ratchet and Clank on Vita and PS3... PS3 Has the slowdown, the vita has the 30fps cap, but if I had to take one.... PSVita's cap and being portable makes it a tad better. I am not a PAL user, infact had it for the NTSC region. By the way, the vita version was better than PS3, it has similar problems, but was more polished due to... A well liked porting company did the job and justice I would say. It took a 60FPS to 30FPS, has the cutscene problems.

I know 5 years old but just encase. Yes split screen multiplayer still works. The servers may be down but offline split screen multiplayer still works fine.
Do you still get the ability to get the extra stuff in up your arsenal when you have saves of the previous games??

I know 5 years later. Yes like the save files on PS2 a PS3 save file and the check for the discount works. Would have to be a PS3 save file and those weapons purchased though to change the prices and then check with the vendor check option and it will update once you have those weapons. Like getting the Tesla Claw is expensive but once you get it after 1 Ratchet 1 save file never again full price even if Ratchet 2 bolts are better value then Ratchet 1.

Have to say, these look truly awful on PS3. The asking price is a lot higher than getting them on PS2, so I think just playing the original copies makes the most sense.

I have the original ratchet and clank, sly and jak games for ps2 but because of trophies I had to get them all on ps3
i 100%'d the first game on this collection, then found out that the second game was buggy

I just ordered this collection. I played them back on the ps2 and loved them but never played any of the PS3 entries in the future series. I do not have my original copies anymore as I have them to my buddy so he could play them. I just got the itch to re play these then finally play the future titles on PS3 for the first time

Well it was originally a psp game
The Ratchet and Clank Games were always running at 60fps there’s no point saying 1080p60fps
In PAL regions it was 50fps

You forgot to mention trophies. There are people that do buy games only for them and this trilogy on sale is a good catch for trophies
