- I explored mixed media with IOD paint inlays and using them up to four times over for different effects.
Inspired by the beautiful artists of Somerset Studio, Laly Mille, Ivy Newport, Jeanne Oliver and Maremi Small Art
SUPPLIES I USED:
Vintage wallpaper, book pages, magazine clippings, assorted marked papers. Acrylic gel/decoupage medium, watercolor paper, assorted word clippings and stickers, assorted brushes and mark making tools, inks, markers for doodling.

Beautiful! For years I subscribed to Country Living magazine. I loved reading it from cover to cover and I also saved mine. I also saved Flea Market Style. Downsizing to a much smaller house was the motivation I needed to get rid of all of my magazine stash.
I love this beautiful project! All the pretty things in one place to enjoy🥰

I can relate to saving magazines! I have 10 years of Romantic Homes and Victoria in my stash...I was trying to work up the courage and go thru them to just keep the images I really love because I so love a good mix media project😊

It's funny I used to keep every Country Living magazine.. saved them..forever. lol! Waiting with baited breath🤪. Love the video/tutorial. You’ve convinces me to buy the Inlays. I have lots of somerset studio mags. Had over my100 Victoria mags at one time but after so many moves I gave them all away😭. My sons we sick of hauling them for me. Only kept about 25 Country Livings. TFS ONCE AGAIN. Really do like watching and gleaning from your wealth of knowledge and your artist’s heart.
We’re speaking the same language 😂 I didn’t happen to mention the Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens, and all the Knitting magazines 😂 . You will love the inlays. Next week I’m sharing a dresser video using them 😊

Ok, I want to go on a retreat and learn how to create mixed media with you and your dis-organized in an organized way brain. The part of your creative brain that lets you cover a beautiful freshly created square of art with another layer of art which only enhances the first square once it’s melded into a new art block… follow me ?? It’s a matter of loosening that part of me to create the next layer, then the next layer, until you (I) have created a piece of art that speaks to the heart. I have a piece of plywood…… 😘😝. Well I think I would love to create with you! I’ve been where you are…. Frozen under my own fear of not being able to create something wonderful. But all of those layers.., even though they are covered up, they represent something. They are hidden, but important. Not hidden because they don’t work. Each layer says something. And trust me… Cheryl, you have much to say ! You can reveal ( or not) all of your layers and each of them means something beautiful. 💓
I am not a fan of the whole shabby chic thing, but this project was amazing! You are such a gifted artist and wonderful inspiration! Now I have to go shabby chic something. :)

Oh my, I LOVE everything about this piece of art. So heartfelt. Gives me all the feels. My emotions are all over the place this week. We are building a Barndominium and downsizing on top of that. Trying to figure out what to keep and not to keep. It is so hard. Love your work.

I’m not sure… maybe 18 x 24? 1/2” You can really use any size you want
