OMG - Chris - you got the Turner thing sooooo wrong. Rich's correction was spot on. Coming back from a road series, ending with poor play against the Marlins, the fans connected and Instead of booing Trey, (like Philly is always accused of by the media) he was given a standing O with sincerity and positive reinforcement when he was announced, every at bat and every play in the field. Trey was so moved by the support that he took out billboard signs thanking the city and fans. Coincidentally, from that point on trey went on a tear starting Aug and continuing into OCT

Note that the only fan base to throw trash on the field mid game this series was, in fact, not the Philly fans. If it was Philly, we’d never hear the end of it.

Yeah its crazy Chris was still trying to claim we dont know if it was said. Also tried to shut down Eisen bringing up Jordan being ultra competitive and making up things to get him going just b/c Harper isnt quite Michael Jordan level. And somehow got the Turner applause thing so wrong. Guy is super salty.

@@pokeroots2Honestly I disagree... was a 1 run game in the 9th and the only way he loses the game there is by the defender making a great play (which they did) but if he doesn't make a great play Harper has a great shot at tying the game in the 9th. I'm okay with him being aggressive.

    OK, on Harper on Turner.
Harper came in motivated because a fan called in who BELIEVED in him and he said, “I need to do it FOR this guy!”
Turner’s billboard was in response to a radio caller (and then host) who advocated giving him a standing ovation for his at bats…and fans did.
Philly’s a great place to play if you want to win.

I grew up watching Mike Schmidt and Charles Barkley as my favorite sport's figures in Philly. Harper has surpassed Michael Jack already for me and he might soon become my all-time favorite Philly athlete. I f-ing love his attitude and fire with the ability to back it up on the field in the most clutch scenarios. I'm so jacked up for game 4 tonight and can't wait to see our fans at the end of the game doing the Braves war chant chop. Go Fightin's!!!

Fans were booing & heckling Trea every game. After a lose against the Marlins in Miami, we heard he was taking BP until he was made to leave at midnight. The next game he blew the game with an error. It was his interview where fans saw how deflated he looked. He took responsibility but it was a really sad & depressed Trea.

And whoever among you said "He's not Michael Jordan", you're right--he may not be arguably the best player ever in his sport, but he sure is one of today's top players. He just keeps adding to the legend. They may never win a championship with him, but it doesn't even matter. The fact they even get to the WS and playoffs is almost entirely his fault in the first place. They are consistently a 75-80 win team that gets to 85-90 wins because his clutch hitting and drive get them there. And that difference with him is just enough to get them into the playoffs to do what they are doing.
Then in the playoffs, you see the results: so many clutch hits, so many times on base to get driven in, so much value.
in 2021, they missed the playoffs, BUT his MVP season and especially his insane 2nd half of the year, nearly drug that mediocre team into the playoffs. Everyone knew he was that guy then. But last year on onward cemented it.

They shouldn’t talk about WIP if they’ve never listened before. It is rare for the radio hosts to criticize Harper because there’s so little to criticize besides him being over aggressive at times. Harper probably doesn’t listen to WIP for motivation from negativity but how much callers say they genuinely love this team and all of the individual players on it

What’s Rich saying in pointing out that Harper listens to sports radio in Philly and that makes him perfect for the city? Is there something wrong with that? Hey Rich, reminder that you are part of that same sports media industry. If people stop caring then there’s no industry and you, Harper, and Deion are all out of a job. You all work for us big guy.
Edit: I may have commented too soon. I heard Rich clarify later in the clip. I think he’s actually saying he’s impressed that Bryce is tuned in and willing to absorb criticism for motivation. “Bless him” he said.

In 2021 -- Bryce Harper --- look at that MVP season. See how many of his doubles and HR's came with his team down or tied on the scoreboard. Like half of his extra base hits drove in lead changing RBI's. That is an MVP personified. It's how he could be rightly granted the award , despite lower numbers. 37 HR and 85 RBI don't look too impressive until you throw on the tape , and see that 20 HR and 40 RBI out of that total were responsible for lead changes in 20+ games. That is an MVP. That team was so mediocre, that there was hardly anyone on base for Harper to drive in all season. Then when he finally does, it changes the lead!
This carried over to the post seasons the last 2 years too. He's the same wrecking ball against Atlanta in the playoffs, that he is in the regular season. And San Diego is wishing they had walked him every time up now.

Passion, brotherhood, recognition of history and love of the game. That's how talented teams win. Chris, your regular-season Braves are a a delight. Relish that feeling. Because after game 162, you will always be crestfallen; questioning your devotion to a team of individual achievers. No fire in Atlanta since 1864. So many division championships, so few parades. Your team continues to fail when the lights are bright. And the transient Braves fans are weak. Truist Park is not the hell-house that Citizens Bank Park is. In October, opposing teams come to Philadelphia to die. Anyway, you have the Falcons to follow now. Enjoy that.

No, it's definitely the truth; Philly might be The "toughest sports town in America"_ but the flip side of this is we act the way we do cuz WE CARE THAT MUCH; It's the ultimate "family" relationship and they know it!! We demonstrate this in wins as well as losses, but our love/support elevates to a whole different level when we're close to reaching the finish line...!! That's why our teams play for us the way they do; they know how much we care and they don't want to let us down; Granted, we know/understand that losses happen, but as long as we know our teams left EVERYTHING they had on their respected fields after every game, we can live with the results..👏👏🤝🤝👍👍💪🦅🦅
