Guys this footage was lost for quite awhile. It’s still 82 degrees here. This was last winter. We have been working every day since Walden job. Thank you all for everything you do. Don’t forget to subscribe and let us know what else you guys want to see.
Just want to first compliment you on being a good family man, taking care of your loved ones is most important. Having all that 'footage' is a big loss, but your TH-cam family, I think, will understand, computers die, batteries go dead, etc. are a fact of life. Welding is your job; teaching and inspiring, comes in as a bonus. Knowing that when your 'welding certs' were pulled, you didn't mope around, get drunk, quit, heck no, you dug your heels in and got after it. That right there is a valuable to anyone. Take care. Be Blessed
That bed looks great!! I’m so glad you put videos up like this because I’m putting my truck together and building my own bed and these videos help me so much!! I appreciate it so much sir
Great video man been waiting to see how one of these welding beds is made and how much work actually goes into something like this soo thank u for the education very cool to see how it's all done and how it all comes together
Just wanted to say thanks, you guys inspired me to take my 1inch 7018 3g/4g structural test, and nailed it. Schofield welding is a blessing to a lot of folk out here thanks for your videos broham
Good to see you young guys building a nice deck.Up here in Alberta they made us stand up our 0xygen bottles.l enjoy your vids.Good luck with the line.Peace out. Reg Mair.
A light tubing and screen headache rack on the front of the flat deck would protect the back of the cab when the welding skid is of. And can mount lights.
Lol!! The snow had me! The new bed looks great! And I like the two piece concept. Can't wait for the next video showing how you tied the two together. 👍👍
Wow.. youre getting snow already! Thats crazy. Its in the 90's here in Alabama. Stay safe keep on keepin on. An please put some different music in the next bed build video please...lol.. the first song made me feel like i was at a funeral. The rest.. well.. jus get some good rock music! Stay warm n safe hope u get put on a job soon. An best to the baby and momma..
Can you do a video on how y'all do family health insurance as contractors, insurance on your rig/equipment, and where can I get an 8" ring to make my rollout wheel?
I'm just a home gamer welder, I just had a question, Instead of fenders why not just extend the bed to cover the tires, would that give you more room ? I think it looks awesome. Thanks my 13 year old loves these videos too. He's burning me out of rod and wire, but it's worth it.
Get you a sait or evolution blade for that metal saw trust me that diablo blade is too thick and puts alot of strain on that saw. Btw bed looks really good man. Good video 👍🏼👍🏼
the older guy in the maroon hoodie in the video looks like he might have burnt a rod or three in his life!!! and he has for sure been around the metal fab industry!!! cause hes slick;) you need to give him a BIG THANK YOU for his help & if he enjoys cold adult beverages a case of those also!!! LOL you aint bad but he is better!!!
Oh yeah I’ve met plenty who have their equipment on a trailer I’ve also had to use a trailer from time to time but I definitely prefer to work out a truck
Wait though so does moving your 5th wheel back affect suspension and stuff more then? Rather than being farther up in the bed like stock? Might sound stupid I just don’t know
@@JacobSchofield I apologize for my English, Google translator. How much does a gas cylinder weigh? How much does the whole product (body) weigh? What thickness of metal is used for the product?
@@JacobSchofield good deal thank you sir I've been been trying to find a 40" fender to clear 35s I like that rolled edge but it seems the dont exist lol
They are oxygen bottles and its perfectly fine. acytelene has to be stood up. the rack is not quite built in this video yet so the two bottles you see are oxygen. if its wrong thn 90% of rig welders are doing it wrong.

You wear a quite special personal protective equipment ;)
Bed looks good brother. Where are y’all at this moment? Colorado? I got jealous when I saw the snowfall, we are still roasting down here in Texas.
Can't wate to see it done
Looks good bud
Hey Brother !!! Great job great video!! Great help you have out there!!
Thanks for sharing!!
How much money do you have invested in material so far? Never priced it out but was curious. Thanks
Hola desde Argentina 👍
Love the bed post some plans mate
I need to draw them up for you guys.
Awesome video man, hopping to build a bed in a year or two and get on the pipeline
Can we see what the bed looks like on the truck? Do you have another video?

yes sir it would give you more room for sure. it this point its all about looks. hahah your a good dad for letting him burn through all that.
Love the build! Anyone ever tell you that you sound like lieutenant Aldo from inglorious bastards (Brad Pitt)?
Time Travel!!!!
Get you a sait or evolution blade for that metal saw trust me that diablo blade is too thick and puts alot of strain on that saw. Btw bed looks really good man. Good video 👍🏼👍🏼
Dude I bought Evolution Saw and that thing is amazing great tip!!
@@JacobSchofield glad to hear bro. Yeah it even lasts longer saving you on the long run.
Not sure how cold it was there but did you have to heat up the metal before welding?
Where is a good place to search for job openings if you're not tied in with a lot of pipeliners but want to get into it?
Damnt man this video got me motivated!
Looks awesome brother. My only question is how much does it all weigh? How much does the flatbed part weigh and how much does the second deck weigh?
Did you make a print first, before you started? Would like to see that if you have it

Wait it’s already snowing in places wow it’s raining here in Texas and it’s still 90 degrees
Hey can we please get an update on the truck bed build ???
Is this from last year? It hasn't even started cooking off down here in Mexico. I'm still running the AC on my motorhome.
cool
Have you done a video on basics of mig welding?
You already have snowfall???????? I'm in central Minnesota with still summer like conditions!!!!! Where are you?
Great job and that looks like a lot of work. Question: Are there any welders out there using a trailer setup instead of a truck setup?
Oh yeah I’ve met plenty who have their equipment on a trailer I’ve also had to use a trailer from time to time but I definitely prefer to work out a truck
Wait though so does moving your 5th wheel back affect suspension and stuff more then? Rather than being farther up in the bed like stock? Might sound stupid I just don’t know
Its defentely heavier on the springs but as far as the way it pulls and handles it is awesome and handles beautifully.
What do you use for the fenders
Isn’t acetylene supposed to be upright?
Yes
Unless you want a cool missile
Jim Alley missed that
Cool to see someone in wyoming, are you in Cheyenne?
What's the average cost of getting a bed build
Where do you get the metal that matches body lines?
How do you figure out the wheel wells and get them made
Measure from your cab to where the center of your axel is minus the clearance for the cab so usually like 3/4 to 1.5”
How wide is your frame rails
What size angle did you use on the box and lid to make a seal ?
What thinness metal do u use ?
How much is the entire gas bottle in the video, in kilograms? What thickness of sheet metal do you use to make the body?
I have no clue. cost they are about 250-300.00
@@JacobSchofield I apologize for my English, Google translator. How much does a gas cylinder weigh? How much does the whole product (body) weigh? What thickness of metal is used for the product?
Do you sell those orange hoodies? I’d definitely buy one.
Your father in law looks like dave Erickson
I thought that was Austin for a sec
Saw this comment when his back was towards the camera and I was like yep
What are the detentions ok you big front box that you keep your oxygen in
Wyatt I will get it all drawn up and then let you guys know.
Alrighty sir👍👍
What thickness metal for the tool boxes? 1/8?
Yes sir
When he hits the tacks what does that do?
Hammering down the metal around the tack while it's still hot just helps keep it flat and from warping.
What are you using for fenders? For a 35" tire
Thats just a rolled piece of plate.
@@JacobSchofield good deal thank you sir I've been been trying to find a 40" fender to clear 35s I like that rolled edge but it seems the dont exist lol
Where is the print for this bed
Why did they pull ur certs
Are you going paint the bed ?
im already thinking bout cutting the fron of it up and refabricating something else. So no not right now
👍👍👍👍

Lets talk about it!! shoot me an email at schofieldwelding@gmail.com I know Dan is looking right now.
Neighbors complaining about the welding??
Your shirt is spelled wrong the man is spell weldor that the man welder That's the machine
I hope u know that it’s not safe to lay or bottles down like that
