One of the greatest songs ever written, by one of the greatest voices that ever roared, and sung here almost off the cuff in tone.... But.... Listen to the whoops sink into stunned quiet as the crowd suddenly has the breath knocked out of them by that wild howl. The driving chords of the guitar like a thumping terrified heart and her voice shrieking like the lonelyangryabandonedgrieving but still unbroken ghost she becomes.... If anyone ever sang like one possessed it would be her, immersed entirely in the voice of whoever or whatever speaks from any song. If you can hear this song without chills on your spine and tears choking the back of your throat, you either speak no English at all, or you died and never noticed. The only singer in the last fifty years, (at least in what we are forced to call "Pop Music") who shares her league is Freddie Mercury, and where Mercury often disguised his emotional power behind camp, her heart is wide open in every track I have ever heard. Beyond good, beyond talent, beyond skill, Sinead O'Connor is one of the closest things to magic left in this world. And not romantic or cute magic dumbed down by Disney. This is Faerie Queen and Banshees, elven royalty with poisoned blades, the fair folk wild as they should be and god help you after dark if you did one wrong. She deserves to be remembered among the greatest of our age, but political and religious intolerance has ensured most dismiss her (if they think of her at all) as some nutcase who used to sing. A goddamned crime against music, especially since the world needs music like this more than ever before.
@@BilliePosters hey buddy, might want to go have yourself checked out, since you seem to have misplaced your fucking soul. I realize that in the modern world filled with the majesty that is K-pop and also, of course, the fifth totally original wave of the same old classic rock cover tunes, its hard to appreciate a brilliant and powerful voice singing about real issues that are slightly more important than whether or not some millennial can get his dick wet. Also, if your critical faculties and capacity for artistic impression are so atrophied, then I suggest you might want to pick up some children literature as obviously the sophisticated world inhabited by us cultured adults will be remaining forever out of your grasp. In closing, 'Billie' is an acceptable first name only if your other names are either 'holliday' or 'Jean King'. Do something about that please, as I won't be able to hide the derisive mockery all that much longer. Now, Go away.
Just watch the mic control she has: her hand bouncing up and down to change the volume as she soars and drops her voice, yet keeping the level right. If there's a compressor on her vocal the engineer is keeping it very subtle. Magnificent talent.
I've read an interview with a producer of one her albums that she HATED compression. That and she used in-ears often only on one ear, but liked having the wedges, too.
I love this version. I saw her live 28 years ago on her first tour. AMAZING woman with incredible stage presence. Obviously nothing has changed in that regard!
She was a raw force. RIP Sinead . Thank you for sharing your spirit, soul and talent with the world. May you find the peace that seemed to elude you in life 🌹

Magnificent talent.
I almost think she doesn't need a microphone it that small venue. She had amazing vocal power.
