    OK, I'll bite. The Soviet officer's cap is called a "pilotka". Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

    Always appreciate the history conversations! This infantry set is a reaaaal pain. Trying to match up arms and weapons and make them look right is frustrating

    Kaiser's extreme boredom as he says "ryyyte" in response to hearing the gun shield is "orky" made me laugh like a hyena

    Also just to be fair about the padded outfits being sold as part of the summer sprue. "Summer" in Warlord Eastern Front terms means "not winter", and altho the mud means spring and autumn were quiet, they weren't silent and they're none too warm.

    Great review. I loved putting together my troops, and found little problems doing so. A little trim here and there make for easier building. There is one helmet with different style, a pip that was a earlier model up to 1942. The only wee snag, is the thin rifle an bayonet, looks great but easily broken.

      For sure, some people will definitely prefer the modularity of the separate arms and weapons; all depends how much the modelling is the hobby part you enjoy.

    Another great unboxing guide,guys,always find your videos very informative about what you get in the box,and whether their good value.
    Keep up the good work,any chance of more bolt action,cruel seas and blood red skies battle reports?

      True, more and more history it seems; one day I might have to reel it in, but for now I think the viewership likes it.

    Giving out an automatic pin, is just like the Suppression keyword is Star Wars Legion, in that you declare your target,, roll to hit, the target gets and automatic suppression token for being shot at and then gets another one if any hits are rolled. I think it's good idea for Bolt Action as MMG teams should be something commonly used.

    Old Soviet sculpts and no mortar team makes this set decidedly average... I have my eye on the new French Army Started set due out soon.... Or the British commandos which is outstanding.

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, it is what it is, if you want an early War Soviet army and don't already have one, it will do the job.

  • @chitzkoi
    @chitzkoi ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Oh, also, the infantry sheet has a guide to the arm combos! There are definitely rifle arms and SMG arms and without that guide it's a shitshow.

    The two main reasons for moving away for the one piece turret hatch were it massively increased the silhoutte when open, and it was really heavy and made it hard for the crew to bail out in the event of a fire.

    Bit late to watching this - seems OK, but the old sculpts are a bit of a turn off for me personally. I do have a purchased but completely unstarted Soviet late war project made up from bits of Warlord and other manufacturers (shocking I know), but my group burned out on Bolt Action before I started it (I mean, I already have late war Brits, Paras, US, US Airborne, Germans - it's not like I was lacking variety!) so it's stayed in the pile. Maybe we'll get back to it in the future - it's still a really fun game, I just don't have much opportunity to play it.

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว

      What are you playing now then?

    • @Kevin.Mitchell

      @@ModellingforAdvantage I've been in sci-fi mode for a while now - lots of Battletech Alpha Strike, 5 Parsecs from Home, Firefight and Xenos Rampant. I still enjoy seeing historical (and fantasy) stuff, it's just I keep accidentally buying and painting cool sci-fi things!

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kevin.MitchellI have literally played none of those games - really should try them.

    • @Kevin.Mitchell
      @Kevin.Mitchell ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModellingforAdvantage Ha! Well I can recommend all of them! All pretty easy to pick up and are all small to large skirmish sized games that are quick to play.
      With the exception of Battletech, if you have 40K armies you can pretty much play the rest without needing to buy anything else. Other than the rule books of course!

    You wore the uniform you got, I guess. If you got a quilted jacket, you wore it through the summer, 'cause if you took it off, you weren't getting another one when Winter rolled around.
